Last week we posted the true life coming out story of Sean Mayer who’s best  known for his role as Dr. Simon Tam in Joss Whedon’s  Firefly and was starring in this season’s new NBC drama The Playboy Club. 

Mayer played the role a closeted man who’s married to lesbian Playboy Bunny Alice (Leah Renee Cudmore) and is involved with launching the Chicago chapter of the Mattachine Society, the underground gay-rights group from the ’50s and ’60s.

 NBC has decided to cancel the show after after only 3 episodes due to low rating.  But thats not stoping rightwing nut Dan Issett, and his Parents Television Council, for jumping on and trying to get some free publicity by lying and  claiming credit for “boiling the bunny”

The show would still be on the air if people hadn’t stood up and spoken out to the sponsors of the show and the advertisers on the show,” Issett suggests. “So there’s a lot of credit that needs to be given to people around the country who made the simple step of just letting their opinion be known about this.” He says that was the bottom line to NBC’s decision to end the show that was designed “to promote the Playboy brand”. So Issett says that is what it will take in the future to get the point across to the entertainment industry. And he hopes that those making programming decisions in the future will more carefully consider whether the content of a show or movie violates public trust.
