Jon Ferguson an openly gay Oklahoma man was nearly killed on Saturday night after his car was vandalized and the firebombed behind his home.
It happened the morning of Saturday, July 21, in an alley behind his home on N.W. 140th Street near Western and Memorial in Oklahoma City. Jon Ferguson says his car alarm woke him up and when he walked outside, a couple of people were vandalizing his car. As Ferguson approached them, one of the suspects threw something in his Camaro that caused an explosion and fire. Ferguson rushed inside his home and called 911. He also jumped in the shower and attempted to peel parts of his melted shirt off body. One of his roommates took a photo of the burning car while waiting for fire and police crews to arrive. Ferguson was rushed to the hospital in an ambulance with first and second degree burns to his face, arms and torso. He was treated and released. On Sunday, the 25 year old returned home for the first time since the fire. He’s frustrated because he has no idea who did this; but to make matters worse, the vandals spray painted a three-letter homophobic slur on his car. Ferguson is an openly gay man now doubting his decision to come out.
The fire department has classified the attack as arson and local police, who say they have no suspects, have not yet called it a hate crime.
Gee, Oklahoma City Police he had the word “fag” spray painted on the car before it was firebombed and you’ve not labeled it a “hate crime”.
Oh yeah that’s right I forgot.
In Oklahoma, and of course it would not be called a “hate crime” since Oklahoma is a “christian” state and they “never hate” anyone. And besides those God-fearing “Christians” were simply exercising their First Amendment right to inform him of their distaste for his immoral lifestyle choice and if you call it a “hate crime,” you’re violating their free speech!

After picketing the funeral of a McAlester, Oklahoma soldier this weekend the cazies of The Westboro Baptist Church returned to thier van to find two of its tires slashed. And every auto and tire repair shop in town refused to make any repairs.
As their minivan slowly hobbled away on two flat tires, with a McAlester police car following behind, the protesters were unable to find anyone in town who would repair their vehicle, according to police. The minivan finally pulled over several blocks away in a shopping center parking lot, where AAA was called. A flatbed service truck arrived and loaded up the minivan. Assistant Police Chief Darrell Miller said the minivan was taken to Walmart for repairs. Even before the protesters discovered their damaged tires, they faced off with a massive crowd of jeering and taunting counterprotesters at Third Street and Washington Avenue, two blocks from the First Baptist Church, where the soldier’s funeral was held. Miller estimated that crowd to number nearly 1,000 people, and they not only drowned out the Westboro protesters with jeers, but with raucous chants of “USA, USA.” A few motorcyclists interspersed among the crowd also revved up their engines to muffle the protests.
Can we please get the names and addresses of all the businesses that denied them service?
Because everyone of them should get a little hand written “Thank You” note!
OMG….and I mean that!
Members of a suburban Oklahoma City Catholic church are swelling in anger over a seemingly extremely Jesus!
Critics of the crucifix take issue with what appears to be a large penis covering Jesus’ abdominal area. Seeton said the portion of the crucifix in question is meant to be Jesus’ abdomen “showing distension” — not a penis. Seeton said, “I’ve had people who have vocally said that that’s what they see there. I’ve had people who have been just as vocal who said that’s not what they’re seeing there.” Janet Jaime, a local iconography artist who designed the crucifix, had no comment. “I think it was painted according to the certain specific rules of iconography and church art,” Seeton said of the crucifix. The crucifix is about 10 feet tall. It has been hanging above the altar since Feb. 21.
But you know the tumescent Jesus – that is, with a big old hard-on – was a recurring image in medieval iconography. It signified his earthly power. Clement Greenberg wrote a definitive essay on it.
This gives a whole new meaning to Jesus loves you
24-year-old Phillip Nelson has been abused beaten and tormented
for the last month. His apartment was broken in to and his belongings were tossed everywhere. He was even punched in the face while taking out the trash. The motive, he says, is because he’s gay,
‘They were saying that I should die – because I’m gay. They were yelling the FAG. They also carved the slur word into the wall inside his apartment and on the front cover of a Bible left at his doorstep. ‘The first thing I thought when I seen that was like, ‘Who would do that to a Bible?’ I was like, ‘Really?’ Because it’s supposed to be the sacred book.
But because the
OklaHOMO Oklahoma Senate recently passed a bill, introduced by Rep. Steve Russell, that would exempt it from having to abide by the recently-passed federal hate crimes law, Claremore Police are investigating, but because of the bill will not cite sexual orientation as a basis for a hate crime they’re looking at it as a case of breaking and entering.”
What’s the point of the Federal Hate Crimes law if the federal government isn’t going to follow up on crimes such as this one? I thought that that was the point of it, that the Federal Government would investigate if the states reneged on their obligations of investigation and prosecution? The states can’t and don’t turn a blind eye to the other protected classes. . .why are they being allowed to blatantly ignore ours. . .after all, it’s the law, isn’t it?
Oklahoma is NOT OK.
Oklahoma State Senator Steve Russell
Homophobic Oklahoma State Senator Steve Russell who once compared homosexuality to necrophelia was uposet last November that the Matthew Sheperd Hate Crimes bill was attached to the Department of Defense bill introduced an admendment in the Oklahoma Senate yesterday that would exempt the State (in its eyes) from obeying the law. And it passed 36 -6.
“Under the new provisions of Senate Bill 1965, reports that were collected during investigations of possible hate crime that did not end in a conviction would be destroyed or kept by the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation. Russell said the bill is meant to prevent the federal law enforcement officials from taking over a case and applying different standards when local law enforcement has already investigated a case. Only a few senators questioned Russell about the contents of his proposed amendment. The measure passed 39-6 and now heads to the House for consideration. Russell said his bill is meant to protect speech of all kinds.”
OKlahomophobia! Where men are men and sheep are nervous.
