PBS Joins NPR Leaving Twitter After Being Labeled “Government Funded Media” by Elon Musk

A reminder to the world and Elon Musk: We survived without twitter before, we can do it again

Via Axios:

PBS has not tweeted from its main Twitter handle since April 8, following Elon Musk’s decision to label the outlet “government-funded news.” PBS joins NPR, another major editorially independent outlet that receives some government funding, in halting its Twitter activity in light of the new label. Twitter added a “government-funded” label to PBS’ main Twitter account last weekend, a spokesperson confirmed. “We did stop tweeting at that point as soon as we discovered it,” a PBS spokesperson confirmed. “We have no plans to resume tweeting.”

Now that PBS has stated they won’t tweet, Elon Musk and Marjorie Taylor Greene has called for a halt to all their Federal funding.

Which begs to call into question why Elon Musk’s companies have received billions in government subsidies over the last two decades?

That’s the Nazi Republican way for you.

NPR Gives Platform To FRC’s Peter Sprigg To Peddle Anti-Gay Lies and Propaganda On Radio Show

Peter Sprigg FRC Hate Group

On the December 10th. edition of National Public Radio’s The Diane Rehm Show, guest host Melissa Ross interviewed Peter Sprigg, at the Family Research Council (FRC) to discuss legal battles over parenting and adoption rights for same-sex couples.

PETER SPRIGG:  I think that certainly there is abundant reason to believe that children do best when raised by a married mother and father. And within the context of foster care the judge has an obligation to do what’s in the best interest of the child. And he exercised that discretion.

MELISSA ROSS: And what research does the Family Research Council cite to buttress the claim that a child is better off with a heterosexual couple?

SPRIGG: Well, there’s an abundance of research showing that children do better overall when raised by their own married biological father who are committed to one another in a life-long marriage. There are just reams of research showing that. Now this is a slightly different situation because of the fact that you’re dealing with a situation where they are being removed from their biological parents. But we think that there is evidence to suggest that children would do better with a mother and father even if it’s not their biological parents.

Sprigg cited a widely discredited Mark Regnerus paper to suggest that children raised by same-sex couples perform poorly, and resurrected the long debunked horror story that Catholic adoption agencies have been shut down for refusing to allow same-sex couples without guest host Melissa Ross pushing back on any of his bogus talking points or Ross mentioning that The Southern Poverty Law Center has listed the FRC as an anti-gay hate group since 2010 due to the organization’s exposed lies and falsehoods about LGBT people and their constant battle of LGBT equality in any form.

Ross the host and producer of Jacksonville, Florida’s WJCT (89.9 FM) call-in radio program “First Coast Connect.” sat their passively and gave Sprigg an open platform to spread his hate-groups propaganda without any pushback.  Luckily fellow guest Emily Hetch-McGowan, Director of Public Policy the Family Equality Council, called out FRC’s use of the much discredited research while Ross sat there doing nothing.

AUDIO – NPR Gives 16 Minute Open Platform To FRC Hate Group Associated Witherspoon Institute To Spread Anti-Gay Propaganda

Yesterday on NPR Neal Conan of “Talk of the Nation”  gave an unfettered 16+ minute platform to Matthew Franck, director of the William E. and Carol G. Simon Center on Religion and the Constitution at the Witherspoon Institute who in a anti-gay propaganda piece for The Washington Post Sunday which we posted about here defending anti-gay hate groups that “the charge of ‘hate’ is not a contribution to argument; it’s the recourse of people who would rather not have an argument at all.”

NPR and Neal Conan allowed Franck to play the victim card freely for these hate groups and didn’t bother to challenge he accuracy of any of Franck’s or do any research into Franck or the William E. and Carol G. Simon Center on Religion and the Constitution at the Witherspoon Institute.

If they did this is what NPR would have found out about the Witherspoon Institute

The Witherspoon Institute is a Christian Right propaganda group with ties to Opus Dei and the Family Research Council — the latter of which is one of the aforementioned hate groups. Surprise, surprise.

Luis E. Tellez, the President of Witherspoon Institute, is an Opus Dei cleric. Robert P. George, Senior Fellow of WI and a member of its Academic Committee, serves on the board of FRC. The Witherspoon Institute is thick as thieves with the FRC.

It amazes me that NPR gave Franck an open platform for his pitiful exercise in propaganda, which was to discredit the Southern Poverty Law Center.  Franck conveniently omits to mention the real reason those groups are listed as hate groups: “… based on their propagation of known falsehoods — claims about LGBT people that have been thoroughly discredited by scientific authorities — and repeated, groundless name-calling.” and has nothing to do with opposition to same-sex marriage.”

NPR and the Media in general seems to easily fall for the tactic that hate groups like FRC and AFA use of having multiple umbrella groups that seemingly are not connected but in reality are like one big hateful incestuous family.  And not only did NPR let Franck and his groups credentials go unchecked they gave him an open platform with the host so uninformed and no counterpoint to challenge the accuracy of many of Franck’s statements which were blatant lies. Not only is it extremely poor media journalism.  Its dangerous.

I ask the NPR, Talk of the Nation and any other media outlets interested to give me equal time to rebut Francks lies and also to expose the The Witherspoon Institute and other organizations who work under and with these anti-gay hate groups to spread propaganda and dehumanize and harm the LGBT Community.
