Singer Vanessa Carlton Announces ‘I Am A Proud Bisexual Woman’ At Nashville Pride

Songwriter and Singer Vanessa Carlton joined the “Anna Paquin Club” and came out as bisexual while headlining Nashville Pride on Saturday.

Carlton told the audience: “I’ve never said this before, but I am a proud bisexual woman.”

Carlton is a Grammy-nominated vocalist  for her hit singles “A Thousand Miles” and “Ordinary Day.” The 29-year-old singer from Pennsylvania has been romantically linked to Third Eye Blind frontman Stephan Jenkins, but the pair split a few years ago. Carlton has dedicated her song “Who’s to Say?” off her second album to her gay fans. The lyrics are a story of forbidden love, including: “And who’s to say that we’re not good enough? / And who’s to say that this is not our love?” She also included a gay male couple in her music video for “Pretty Baby.

Congrats to Vanessa for standing up and being counted.

Take note Queen Latifah, Johnny Weir, and yes even my fantasy husband James Franco.  This is how its done.
