The good died young and it seems that Anita Bryant will live forever.
Marie Osmond the mother of a lesbian daughter and a a professed equality ally posed for a picture of famed anti-gay spokesbitch Anita Bryant after a recent concert. Bryant is the original singer of the song “paper Roses” which Marie made famous and destroyed the countless lives of gay men and lesbians in the 1970’s with her crusade of hate.
Now I like Marie Osmond. But to those of you who say “Cut her some slack. It was a professional courtesy what was she supposed to do?”
Back in the day when some stars had integrity. Charlie Chaplin was at a party at the beginning of World War II with a famous German director who was a loyalist of Adolph Hitler. When the famous director offered to shake Chaplin s hand Chaplin refused and said “I don’t shake hands with Nazis.” and walked away.
Now THAT was a celebrity!
Bryant by the way has never apologized for her anti-gay crusade.
Coming right on the heels of her families hateful anti-gay “Celebration of Marriage” rally in Salt Lake City, UT this past week Marie Osmond talked with Diane Sawyer and let her know that she believes in marriage equality.
“The God that I believe in is a god of love, not fear. I don’t tell my children if you’re not good you’re going to Hell. I tell my children that God will be there for them when they struggle. That’s the God I believe in…I believe in [my lesbian daughter’s] civil rights, as a mother. I think my daughter deserves everything that she desires in life. She’s a good girl. She’s a wonderful child. I don’t think God made one color flower. I think he made many…”
It is nice to see Marie Osmond finally standing against her anti-gay family and the Mormon church and speaking out for the civil rights of gays and lesbians and supporting her lesbian daughter.

“Marie Osmond’s poor gay son killed himself because he had been told how wrong and how sick he was every day of his life by his church and the people in it. Calling that ‘depression’ is a lie! Yet the Osmonds still talk lovingly about their church, saying nothing about its extremely anti-gay Crusade. Marie also has a gay daughter! Hey, I want her and all the gay kids in the world to know that they are just fine being gay and that they deserve love and respect instead of insults and rebuke! I have gay people in my family and my circle of friends and I am kicking bigot ass and taking names! … Yet, even though the people they say they love the most in all of their public displays and speeches (THEIR KIDS AND FAMILY!!) are gay,– their own children, for crying out loud- these people cannot find the christian decency and compassion within themselves to stop their hypocritical gay bashing!! Every parent, grandparent, uncle, aunt, and family member of gay children needs to stop giving money to their church. Mormon, Catholic, Baptist, ect….
NEVER FORGET. It was a Mormon who tied Matthew Shepard to the fence while a Baptist that beat him to the point oif death.
