Beyoncé and Anti-Gay Lyric Writing Husband JAY-Z To Receive 2019 GLAAD Media Award

Beyoncé and Anti-Gay Lyric Writing Husband JAY-Z To Receive 2019 GLAAD Media Award

GLAAD has just announced that their Vanguard Media Award at the upcoming 30th annual GLAAD will be presented to Beyoncéand JAY-Z.

The Vangard Media Award is presented to “allies who have made a significant difference in promoting acceptance of LGBTQ people.”

Now we all know that Beyonce is a tireless LGBT advocate and has stood up numerous times over issues that affect the LGBT community. (SNORT)  And JAY-Z has written some of the most pro-LGBT rap lyrics and music to date. Including some of these most memorable lines.

In his 2001 song “Heart of the City (Ain’t No Love),” the GLAAD recognized pro-gay singer raps:

Young faggots spittin’ at me, young rappers gettin’ at me
My nigga Big predicted this s**t exactly
“Mo’ Money, Mo’ Problems” – gotta move carefully
‘Cause faggots hate when you gettin’ money like athletes

Jay-Z also took a stand for ‘equality’ in a toe-tapper called, “La-La-La (Excuse Me Miss Again),” in which he sings:

Now I ain’t down with who like me or who like you
That’s gay, I ain’t into liking dudes no way

He also bravely took a stand for the gay community in his tune, “22 Two’s,” :

Too many faggot niggas clockin’ my spendin’
Exercisin’ your gay-like minds like Richard Simmons

GLAAD president and CEO Sarah Kate Ellis had the audacity yo call Beyonce and Jay-Z  “global icons and passionate defenders of human rights and acceptance for all people,” in a press statement, adding, “When Beyoncé and JAY-Z speak, the world becomes inspired and when it comes to LGBTQ people, their voices of acceptance have been heard loud and clear.”

Sarah Kate Ellis should hang her head in shame and resign or have her over-paid ass kicked to the street.

Poor Vito Russo is rolling in his grave over what has happened to the once noble organization that he founded.

Beyonce Speaks Out For Same-Sex Marriage: “We all should be able to put a ring on it”

Over the past week during the initial Supreme Court hearings regarding the Prop 8 and DOMA cases calling into the question of banning same sex marriage is unconstitutional, many celebrities voiced their support. We knew we have always had the support of some that spoke up like  music icon Madonna and NFL star from the Baltimore Ravens Brendon Ayanbadejo.

But with others that are given high social status we are not always so sure until recently, as is the case with Beyonce, who finally spoke up in support for same sex marriage. The multifaceted musician, actress, and business mogul took the opportunity to let her fans know that it is time for us as a society to ensure that we all have the right to love whomever we want:

This does come as a big relief to many of her fans that are LGBT and have wondered for so long why she chose to not vocally state what her opinion was on the issue. Coupled with the fact that her husband, Jay-Z has expressed numerous times his support of marriage equality, alongside President Obama last year, Beyonce’s silence did make some wonder if she did not share the same view.

Some believed it was out of fear of how some of her fanbase would react to her supporting same sex marriage. But that would be problematic as a sizable portion of her fans are gay men. Yet Beyonce has never been an artist to give too much credence to the opinion of others, no matter how respect and appreciation she may have for their support so it’s reasonable to believe that this latest gesture is genuine. .

But in typical, methodically honed timing, the triple threat decided to vocalize her opinion in her own way and own time. And that is why we love her. As it should be for anyone, they should be able to express how they feel in whatever way they see fit. Can’t help but respect that.

Rapper A$AP Rocky Says Hip Hop Culture Evolving On Gay Movement

It’s no secret that the Hip Hop music, widely associated with the African American community has been slated as one of the more homophobic (which I do not agree with at all). But from statisticians to casual observers believe that this confounded belief has seen a decrease as more affluent members of the African American community evolve in their assessment of gay rights, more have been vocal about it. Rapper A$AP Rocky is also in agreement of this noting how legends in the HipHop community are welcoming LGBT fans and musicians. Here’s more:

Harlem native A$AP Rocky recently sounded off on “the gay thing” in hip hop during an interview with Alexander Wang for Interview Magazine. The “Goldie” rapper says he wants to use his platform as an artist to let people know how he feels about the hot button topic.

“So now that I’m here and I’ve got a microphone in my hand and about 6,000 people watching me, I need to tell them how I feel,” he said. “For instance, one big issue in hip hop is the gay thing. It’s 2013, and it’s a shame that, to this day, that topic still gets people all excited. It’s crazy. And it makes me upset that this topic even matters when it comes to hip hop, because it makes it seem like everybody in hip hop is small-minded or stupid — and that’s not the case.”

Rocky said that he treats everybody equal and he wants his listeners and followers to do the same. “We’ve got people like Jay-Z. We’ve got people like Kanye. We’ve got people like me. We’re all prime examples of people who don’t think like that. I treat everybody equal, and so I want to be sure that my listeners and my followers do the same if they’re gonna represent me. And if I’m gonna represent them, then I also want to do it in a good way.”

So with this wave that’s taken over the country as far as acceptance, does this mean that we will see more artists and musicians emerge from the Hip Hop community that are members of the LGBT community? It certainly appears that it’s more plausible.
