“The family is threatened by growing efforts on the part of some to redefine the very institution of marriage, by relativism, by the culture of the ephemeral, by a lack of openness to life,” the Pontiff told thousands at a Mass in Manila. “These realities are increasingly under attack from powerful forces, which threaten to disfigure God’s plan for creation.”
The 78-year old Argentinean also referred to the movement in many countries to accept same-sex marriage as an “ideological colonization that we have to be careful about that is trying to destroy the family.”
“Every threat to the family is a threat to society itself,” Francis also told the conservative Catholic nation. “The future of humanity, as Saint John Paul II often said, passes through the family.”
In his closing remarks Francis talked about how he was “very moved after the Mass today when I visited that shelter for children with no parents.”
Children that could possibly have more chance of being with a loving family if gay men and women could adopt in the Philippines and be married.
Smelling money the Human Rights Campaign is going to take its show on the road overseas to” further LGBT rights internationally”, reports NYT columnist Frank Bruni . And get this. They are going to do it with the the help of REPUBLICAN money from New York hedge-fund billionaire Republicans Paul Singer, who was a major Romney supporter in 2012, and Daniel Loeb.
“In this case, he was announcing a new project to be funded, at least at the outset, by him and other conservative donors but to be run by the Human Rights Campaign, an L.G.B.T. advocacy group in Washington, which is much more closely affiliated with Democrats. The initiative will be dedicated to fighting the victimization of gays and lesbians internationally. But it will also show that there are Republicans — not a majority, but an increasingly impassioned minority — who are intent on progress and justice for L.G.B.T. people. They won’t surrender that cause to Democrats, and they believe that Republicans who do so are resisting a future that’s both just and inevitable.“
So here we have the HRC who has trouble championing the rights of LGBT Americans working with Republicans to champion LGBT equality abroad? What are they going to do throw pretty parties at the U.S. Embassy in Moscow? Sell T-Shirts and mugs at an HRC store in Uganda? Release multiple press releases in Jamacia taking credit where none is due?
HRC is the same LGBT organization that has thrown sections of our community under the bus, wanted nothing to do with the lawsuit against Prop. 8 and the Edith Windsor case originally out of fear it would fail and is currently pushing for passage of the Employment Non-Discrimination Act which they took NO part in the writing of that has a gaping religious exemption that will allow religious organizations, schools, hospitals, and businesses to continue to discriminate freely and legally against us.
God help our international LGBT brothers and sisters.
Police clashed with hundreds of hooded anti-gay extremist in Montenegro on Wednesday as they tried to disrupt the first gay pride parade to be held in the conservative Balkan country that is in talks to join the European Union.
Several hundred extremists shouting “Kill the gays” attacked gay activists and clashed with police on Wednesday in a bid to disrupt the first ever pride event in staunchly conservative Montenegro, which is seeking to improve its human rights record as it bids to join the European Union.
Angry assailants threw rocks, bottles, glasses and various other objects — including chairs from local cafes — at several dozen flag-waving gay activists who shouted back “Kiss the gays.” A shower of stones and bottles also landed on special police securing the gathering in the coastal town of Budva.
Police then intervened to push the attackers away and allow the event to continue. The participants briefly marched by the sea before they stopped to hold speeches as extremists shouted insults from a distance. Later, police again clashed with smaller groups of extremists scattered throughout the town.
Montenegro, began EU accession talks last year, hoping to be the next in line for membership after Croatia but before joining, it must demonstrate readiness to protect human rights.
The proposal was put forth during a City Council meeting yesterday. Should the proposal pass it would effectively terminate all political and cultural relations between Reykjavík and Moscow.“In light of the developments that have taken place in recent years in matters of gay, bisexual, and transgender people in Russia, the Human Rights Office and the Mayor’s Office have entrusted the deputy mayor to propose amendments to the existing agreement between the two cities or terminate it all together following consultation with the Foreign Ministry,” read the minutes from the City Council meeting. In 2007 Reykjavík and Moscow became sister cities, an agreement that would see the municipalities exchanging information, and cooperate on policies regarding youth and family.

Brilliant! And a good reminder that everyone should visit Iceland – one of the most amazing, LGBT friendly and beautiful countries on the planet.
Tom Roes, whose website allows people to download the documents needed to leave the church, said traffic on ontdopen.nl – “de-baptise.nl” – had soared from about 10 visits a day to more than 10,000 after Pope Benedict’s latest denunciation of gay marriage this month. “Of course it’s not possible to be ‘de-baptized’ because a baptism is an event, but this way people can unsubscribe or de-register themselves as Catholics,” Roes told Reuters. He said he did not know how many visitors to the site actually go ahead and leave the church. About 28 percent of the population in the Netherlands is Catholic and 18 percent is Protestant, while a much larger proportion – roughly 44 percent – is not religious, according to official statistics. The country is famous for its liberal attitudes, for example to drugs and prostitution, and in April 2001 it was the first nation in the world to legalize same-sex marriages.
In case anyone in America is interested you can get your very own De-Baptismal certificate here: www.ffrf.org
In a recent interview the Dutch Foreign Affairs Minister Frans Timmermans wondered how the ex-Hitler Youth and current Pope Benedict XVI and the Vatican claim to respect everyone’s uniqueness while simultaneously spreading hatred against gays and lesbians.
In Moscow 20 activists from Russian LGBT network and Equality March gathered for a series of one-man pickets with banners “We are against article 6.13.1”, “For freedom of views and believes, against totalitarian law” and other. The pickets took place from 9:00 till 11:00 near the Russian State Duma building. And although at the same time the pickets of so called Orthodox activists took place nearby, there were no one arrested.
At 12:00 LGBT activists approached the Duma to hold a “Propaganda of love” protest act involving couples kissing in front of the Duma building (homosexual as well as heterosexual ones). In several minutes the Orthodox activists started to throw eggs at the LGBT activists, some of aggressive men attacked the couples. The police arrested 18 people around 12:30. Among them were 11 participants, 5 Orthodox activists and 2 journalists. All arrested were handed into a prison truck, where they were kept for more than two hours without being informed about the reason of their arrest. Now they are still in the police station.
Nikolai Alekseev of Gay Russia told Gay Star News: ‘There was about 15 people there. They were picketing the entrance to the Duma with placards and they decided to make this kissing protest in front of the entrance. There were about four or five couples, male and female, kissing. ‘Then this radical Orthodox activist attacked them physically and with eggs. It was quite violent. It was really like the Middle Ages I would say.’
The struggle for gay rights and actually all civil rights in Russia is losing ground as that country becomes a christian theocracy.
Take note America this is what the USA will become if the GOP and the christian extremist right have their way.
Proposals for a “special” Gay Pride Week in Denmark to honour Hans Christian Andersen, author of The Emperor’s New Clothes, The Ugly Duckling and Thumbelina among many others are causing deep divisions within Denmark
Trine Bramsen, the Social Democrat MP for Funen, the poet’s birthplace promtes the idea 100 percent saying that it would be a boost to the local economy.
“There is so much palaver about Hans Christian Andersen’s sexuality, and I think we should use it,” she said. “It should be a week where gays from all over the world can come to the island of Funen.”
She said participants in the festival would be able to marry in Funen’s many historic churches, after new laws come in guaranteeing gays the right to religious church weddings.
But some on the island of Funen disagree.
Finn Wagner, a pensioner described the proposal as ‘distasteful’.
“This great Dane has been enjoyed by millions of children and adults worldwide,” he wrote. “Denmark has not deserved this. Funen has not deserved this.”
Vivi Jelstrup, of the Danish Gay and Lesbian association, said that while she supported the idea of a gay week, she wasn’t certain that the great writer had actually been gay. “To my knowledge, Andersen was not homosexual, but bisexual. It appears from his diaries that he alternately fell in love with men and women,”
Participants chanted “discrimination get out!,” as they marched in downtown Taipei in an annual event which attracted people from Japan, Malaysia and South Korea.
“We have an even bigger crowd this year particularly after a number of incidents showing that discrimination against the gay community is still serious,” said organiser Hiro Liu.
Earlier in the year an incident of five patients receiving organs from an HIV positive donor, who was homosexual, due to a hospital’s mistake led to suggestions that homosexuals should be banned from donating blood and organs, which drew heated criticism from gay rights groups. Tainwan DOES NOT ban gay blood donors
“AIDS is an illness, not a crime but the society equates AIDS with homosexuals to discriminate and stigmatise gay people,” Liu said.
Gay groups were also offended when a senior politician demanded opposition presidential candidate Tsai Ing-wen to disclose her sexual orientation, as it will “affect her judgment call as a president,”
