MIAMI School Board Votes Against Recognizing LGBT History Month

Via Politico:

“The Miami Dade School Board on Wednesday night struck down a proposal that would have recognized October as “LGBTQ history month” out of concern that it would violate the state’s Parental Rights in Education law, known by opponents as “Don’t Say Gay.” Miami school board members passed a similar resolution acknowledging LGBTQ history month in 2021 by a 7-1 vote but found themselves in a different situation this fall under the Parental Rights in Education law. Although the board’s own attorney said the recognition was on a solid legal footing, board members voted 1-8 against the idea after dozens of parents and community members raised their opposition at a marathon meeting. “I do believe this is in direct violation of our parental rights bill,” said board member Christi Fraga, who voted against the measure.”

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic Attempts To Cancels EuroPride 2022 in Belgrade After Protests

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic Attempts To Cancels EuroPride 2022 in Belgrade After Protests

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has said that September’s EuroPride parade in Belgrade will not go ahead would be “postponed or cancelled. Vucic’s announcement comes after thousands of marched in protest organized by the Serbian orthodox church against the event earlier this month.

Vucic in s statement blamed the cancellation on “recent tensions with its former province Kosovo”, as well as issues around energy and food. “Simply, at some point, you can’t handle everything,” he said. “In an another time, a happier one [the event could take place].”

EuroPride 2022 organizer Marko Mihailovic said “the state cannot cancel EuroPride” and any attempt to do so would be a “clear breach of the constitution”.

Far-right parties have condemned the event, and Bishop of Banat, Nikanor, from the Serbian Orthodox Church, said he would “curse all those who organize and participate in something like that”.

Event organizers said Serbia’s role as a host of EuroPride was “an important step along the path toward achieving equality for the LGBTI+ community in the Western Balkans”.

Kathy Griffin Testifies Over Viral Video Lawsuit Of Adult Harassing Teen In Prom Dress

In April 2021, a 59-second video of Sam Johnson was posted online. In the clip, the businessman is seen standing next to an 18-year-old teenage boy named Dalton Stevens who wore a dress to his prom and bothers and berates him..

“I chose what I want to wear, so you can f— off,” the teen told Johnson. The businessman then said, “you look like an idiot.

Kathy Griffin retweet the video with the message, “If this is Sam Johnson in Nashville, Tennessee, the CEO of @VisuWell , healthcare-tech-growth strategist, married to Jill Johnson where they may reside in Franklin, Tennessee, it seems like he’s dying to be online famous.”

Johnson said Griffin’s tweet led to VisuWell firing him as CEO and removing him from the board. Days after the comedian fired off the message, the company released a statement distancing itself saying it, “unequivocally condemns the behavior exhibited by Sam Johnson.” So of course child abusing adult homophobe Johnson is suing Griffin for “doxxing” him.

In the lawsuit, Johnson’s lawyer wrote, “Ms. Griffin is a malign internet provocateur and is notorious for her disturbing posts on various social media platforms, especially Twitter. Her preferred method of online harassment is to “dox” private citizens.” and said the video was “incomplete, edited, and out-of-context.” His lawyer wrote, “The Video Clip only showed one minute of an incident that had been developing for over one hour. The implication created by the Video Clip—that Mr. Johnson instigated a confrontation to bully two LGBTQIA+ teenagers at a hotel—was deeply misleading.”

In her response, Griffin said, “This case tests a core feature of our democracy: the ability to participate in debate on a public issue without fear of punishment and involves a widely publicized incident in which [Samuel Johnson], a local health care executive berated a gay high school student who was taking prom pictures at the Harpeth Hotel in Franklin, Tennessee, early on a Saturday evening.”

Man Sentenced to 30 Years In Prison for Threatening To Blow Up The Stonewall Inn

Man Sentenced to 30 MONTHS In Prison for Threatening To Blow Up The Stonewall Inn

A 74-year-old retired schoolteacher from a New York City was sentenced to 30 months in prison Wednesday for mailing dozens of violent threats to LGBT affiliated individuals, groups and businesses over several years. Including a threat to blow up the historic Stonewall Inn.

Via FOX News: Fehring pleaded guilty in February to mailing threatening communications through the postal service. “We are disappointed in the length of the sentence, but Mr. Fehring is happy to be putting this nightmare behind him,” his attorney, Glenn Obedin, said in an email. “He is deeply remorseful for what occurred, and looks forward to living quietly with his family once he has served his sentence.”

Fehring also threatened to place explosives at 2021 New York City Pride march that would “make the 2016 Orlando Pulse Nightclub shooting look like a cakewalk,” referring to the 2016 attack in which 49 people were killed and dozens wounded at Pulse, a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida.

“Robert Fehring made heinous threats against members of the LGBTQ community in locations throughout New York, including Suffolk County, for nearly eight years,” Suffolk County Police Commissioner Rodney Harrison said in a statement. “Thanks to the tireless efforts of our department’s Hate Crimes Unit detectives and the diligent work of our law enforcement partners, Fehring is being held accountable for his crimes.”

An FBI search of Fehring’s home last November in Long Island, yielded two loaded shotguns and hundreds of rounds of ammunition in addition to copies of letters containing threats. Investigators also found a stamped envelope addressed to an LGBT-affiliated attorney containing the remains of a dead bird, according to the U.S. attorney’s office for the Eastern District of New York.

Gay Rugby Stud Keegan Hirst Comes Out Of Retirement to Combat Homophobia.

Keegan Hirst, who became the first British professional rugby league footballer to come out as gay in 2015, and retired in 2020 has announced he will return to the sport, joining the Batley Bulldogs to increase visibility of gay players and also to combat homophobia in the sport.

COVID, added to my own personal circumstances, made me lost tough with some of the things I hold dearest to me – friends and rugby league, After the recent thinly-veiled homophobia over a rainbow shirt I thought: ‘How can I help with visibility and inclusion?’ By lacing up my boots, putting on a playing shirt and getting back out there, that’s how. I still have plenty of games in me and am looking forward to help Batley continue their incredible season as they ready for their playoff campaign.” – via Pink News

Thanks Keegan.

Oh and by the way it’s alright by us if you leave your “playing shirt” off.

GOP Rep. Lauren Boebert: Same Sex Marriage “Undermines Masculinity”.

Via Newsweek:

Colorado Rep. Lauren Boebert has said the same-sex marriage bill that passed the House last week “undermined masculinity.” Boebert made the remarks on Charlie Kirk’s podcast that was recorded during Turning Point USA’s Student Action Summit over the weekend. Boebert slammed the legislation as an “assault on America’s traditional values” on Kirk’s podcast. “I think the federal government should not be involved in marriage,” she said. My marriage between my husband is really between me and God, not between me and the government. But this was absolutely unnecessary. They have attacked our institutions. They have weakened the nuclear family and undermined masculinity and even femininity.”

Blah….blah…. blah…. …whereas my [non-consensual] dick-exposing husband is the very essence of manly-man. Hubba hubba!”

Lauren Boebert undermines human intelligence.

Gay History – July 21, 1958: New Orleans Launches Raids Against French Quarter Gay Bars

The City of New Orleans, Louisiana might be known as he Big Easy today but as in many cities throughout the country during the 1950s, members of the homosexual community in New Orleans were often victims of violence and were often arrested because of their sexuality.  The “Laissez les bons temps rouler” (“Let the good times roll.”) mindset didn’t extend to the city’s gay citizens, and much like other major cities across the nation, anti-gay campaigns often heated up ahead of local elections.

In n 1958, city councilmen complained that the police were sitting on their hands while the French Quarter was being invaded by roving bands of homosexuals, allegedly from other cities since, apparently, such a thing was unheard of there, the city’s storied tolerance for sexual eccentrics in music, literature and the arts notwithstanding. One councilman complained of “men with blondined hair and awful looking people all day and all night in the French Quarter,” and wondered why police had only made 86 arrests in two years on charges of lewd behavior or wearing women’s clothing. Police Supt. Provosty A. Dayries responded, “You can’t just point to someone and say he or she is a deviate — that is one of the frustrating things about the problem.”

Amid complaints about lax police enforcement and courts that insisted that those arrested should be charged with something specific and based on real evidence, Mayor Morrison appointed his half-brother, Jacob Morrison to head a citizen’s committee to look into the problem. With pressure increasing across all sectors of city government, Supt. Dayries launched a raid against known “deviate bars,” arresting eighteen people (mostly bar employees) on charges of vagrancy, disturbing the peace, and “no visible means of support.” Thirty others were warned to stay away. While most of the charges were dropped the next day the city’s principal newspaper, the Times Picayune, would publish (their) names and address…under the heading, ‘Crimes Against Nature.

Two months later in September  three Tulane undergrads wanted to  partake of “time honored tradition, for fraternities” called “rolling a queer.”  Fernando Rios a Mexico City-based tour guide was thier chosen victim. He was beaten and robbed in an alleyway, left unconscious on the sidewalk, and died later that day. During January of 1959, his assailants were charged but acquitted under the “gay panic” defense, and the courtroom cheered.

Russia Proposes Extending "Gay Propaganda Law" To All Adults

Russia Proposes Extending “Gay Propaganda Law” To All Adults

Russian lawmakers have proposed extending a ban on the promotion of “non-traditional” sexual relationships to minors to include adults as well, a senior legislator said on Monday.

Under the proposed changes, ANY event or act regarded as an attempt to “promote homosexuality” could incur a fine or jail time.

“We propose to generally extend the ban on such propaganda regardless of the age of the audience (offline, in the media, on the internet, social networks and online cinemas),” the head of the State Duma’s information committee, Alexander Khinshtein, said on his Telegram social media channel.

Homosexuality was a criminal offence in Russia until 1993 and classed as a mental illness until 1999. But homosexuality is still disapproved of by most Russians thanks to the Russian Orthodox Church, and same-sex couples and households headed by same-sex couples are ineligible for the legal protections available to opposite-sex couples and are subject to harassment and violence.

Russia’s laws have received international condemnation from human rights campaigners, and media outlets that even display of LGBT symbols, such as the rainbow flag, have resulted in arrests, and incited homophobic violence, like is documented in the Channel 4 documentary Hunted which followed anti-gay groups as they lured young gay men into traps where they were humiliated, with the footage later posted online.

Missouri Man Shoots Gay Teen 8 Times

Missouri Man Shoots Gay Teen 8 Times

A Kansas City, Missouri man has pleaded guilty to federal hate crimes charges after shooting a teenage boy 8 times because he was gay.

Malachi Robinson, 26, admitted this week to shooting the teen on May 29, 2019. After the boy approached him and asked to connect via Facebook. The two then began a conversation over Facebook Messenger in which M.S. asked about Robinson’s sexual orientation and suggested the meet in the library’s bathroom. Robinson told him that he was not gay but agreed to meet outside the library to engage in oral sex in exchange for $5.

All the while Robinson was sending screenshots of the chat to his girlfriend.

Robinson then left the library and followed the teen to a wooded area nearby,. That’s when Robinson shot the teen approximately eight times, hitting him three times in the chest, three times in his right arm, once in his left buttocks, and once in his right hand, almost detaching his finger.

On a June 2, 2019 Facebook message, he wrote, “I shot a ni**a. He was being gay af and following me like a mf.”

“This attempted murder is a reminder that hate crimes against the LGBTQI+ community are real and must be confronted,” Assistant Attorney General Kristen Clarke of the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division said in a July 7 statement. “Violent acts targeting people based on their sexual orientation are heinous crimes that have no place in our country.”

The unidentified teen miraculously survived and spent two weeks in the hospital before being released.

UDISNEY Extends CEO's Contract Who Threw LGBT's Under Florida's "Don't Say Gay" Bus

DISNEY Extends CEO’s Contract Who Threw LGBT’s Under Florida’s “Don’t Say Gay” Bus.

On June 27 Disney’s board unanimously voted to extend CEO Bob Chapek’s contract by another three years until 2025. “The board has full confidence in him and his leadership team,” Disney’s board announced on Wednesday. (Despite the fact that he/they helped set gay rights back in Florida 40 years.

For those of you who aren’t in the know Disney’s CEO Bob Chapek and Disney remained silent during the weeks and months leading up to the passage of Florida’s “Don’t Say Gay” Law. Disney and Chapek would not take a public stance on the bill that harkens back to the era of Anita Bryant when homophobia and hate ran rampant in Florida. And to make matters worse, it was discovered that Disney had also donated to many of the Florida Republican politicians responsible for the heinous law. “Bob is the right leader at the right time for The Walt Disney Company, and the board has full confidence in him and his leadership team,” board chair Susan Arnold said of the vote.

Some hypothesized that Chapek gets to remain simply because there’s no immediate alternative while a lengthy hunt would also hurt the company. Others think it’s because of metrics like subscriptions and park attendance are likely superseding everything else. And that is what’s pushing Disney to extend his contract despite the massive harm caused to and blowback from the LGBT community.
