Warner Bros. Studios Defends Cutting Gay Dialogue from Fantastic Beasts in China

J.K. Rowling aside.

Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore again looks at the early life of the Harry Potter character, Albus Dumbledore (played by Jude Law). The lines of dialogue axed from China run for six seconds, according to Variety. They allude to a previous relationship between Dumbledore and Grindelwald (played by Mads Mikkelsen). (Honestly if you blink you miss it.)

The specific lines are “because I was in love with you” and “the summer Gellert and I fell in love”. The cuts were made at the request of authorities in China. and WB quickly obliged and has defended the edit.

“As a studio, we’re committed to safeguarding the integrity of every film we release, and that extends to circumstances that necessitate making nuanced cuts in order to respond sensitively to a variety of in-market factors. Our hope is to release our features worldwide as released by their creators but historically we have faced small edits made in local markets. In the case of ‘Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore,’ a six-second cut was requested and Warner Bros. accepted those changes to comply with local requirements but the spirit of the film remains intact. We want audiences everywhere in the world to see and enjoy this film, and it’s important to us that Chinese audiences have the opportunity to experience it as well, even with these minor edits.”

The movie will not get a release in Russia because of the war in Ukraine. But expect similar cuts as those made in China to also be wielded for many parts of the Middle East.

So, now this begs the bigger question: If your representation was so paper-thin that all it took was cutting six seconds to make the text back into subtext, is that representation?

Social Justice Warriors Attack J.K. Rowling On Twitter Over Saying Sirius Black Is Not Gay - Stupificus!

J.K. Rowling has upset a blizzardful of Special Snowflake, SJW, (Social Justice Warriors) Potterheads over the weekend when she confirmed that Sirius Black, one of the main characters in her Harry Potter series, is not gay.

It appears that many of them had decided that the prisoner of Azkaban and driving force in the fight against Voldemort was also a pioneering LGBT wizard. But when a Twitter user got the chance to ask Rowling about Black’s sexual orientation, she confirmed that he’s definitely a cis-wizard heterosexual.

The announcement left the Snowflakess crushed, they started a hashtag, “#JKRowlingIsOverParty, where they commiserated about their favorite author’s lack of interest in gay characters and went so far into histrionics (once again) to call her a traitor to the LGBT cause and, occasionally a “homophobe”—all because, as the author of the Harry Potter works, she had a different vision from her fans about the sexuality of a fictional character that she created.

Despite the fact Rowling herself is also a vocal advocate for LGBT rights, most recently standing up to anti-gay bullies intent on harassing British Olympic diver Tom Daley after he failed to qualify for medal contention SJW’s continue to bash Rowlings and do what they do best. Pick on our allies because fighting the real enemies is just too hard and actually takes effort.

Fans Accuse JK Rowling of Queerbaiting Characters In Harry Potter and the Cursed Child

Today in our “Sensitive Gay Potterheads With Too Much Time On Their Hands” section we bring to you the story of  some Harry Potter fans who are accusing J.K. Rowling of “queerbaiting” the characters of sons of Harry Potter and Draco Malfoy: Scorpius Malfoy and Albus Potter in the new Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.

In the case of Harry Potter and the Possible Example of Queerbaiting, the accusation stems from the play’s portrayal of the boys rather close friendship. Albus and Scorpius become very close friends from the beginning of their first year at Hogwarts. Both shy and shunned and neither much like their famous fathers, their friendship becomes critical. Albus and Scorpius make a fuss out of hugging each other (“We said we wouldn’t do that!”)

One scene reads: “Scorpius: You can’t what?

“Albus: Just — we’ll be better off without each other, okay?

“Scorpius is left looking up after him. Heartbroken.”

Another reads: “Albus: And it’s something I should have said a long time ago. In fact, you’re probably the best person I know. And you don’t — you couldn’t — hold me back. You make me stronger — and when Dad forced us apart — without you —.

Scorpius: I didn’t much like my life without you in it either.”

Some fans have affectionately (or defiantly?) dubbed the couple “Scorbus”, while a piece on Tor.com was rather more cautious: “I’m all for depictions of strong friendships that define people, but Albus and Scorpius don’t read like Harry and Ron,” wrote Emily Asher-Perrin. Daily Dot writer Gavia Baker-Whitelaw, rather more bluntly, tweeted an alternative title:

“The writers of the Cursed Child intentionally included this fan theory to draw us in, but decided to change it just enough so that they wouldn’t have to admit that they made two 11-year-olds gay,” Jameson Ortiz, an LGBTQ campaigner and Harry Potter fan, told me. “It’s queerbaiting because they knew exactly who they were reeling in and why, but still decided to leave out the main attraction for all the fans they hooked, choosing instead, like so many others, to set up the gay romance, hint at it constantly, make it believable and deep and perfect, and then force it out of the story.”

He did mention that the characters are only 11 years old.

Believe it. Or not.

Daniel Radcliffe Talks About Gay Character In Upcoming Film Role

Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe has been an  outspoken advocate for LGBT rights for several years now, including participating in the It Gets Better Campaign and joining gay-straight alliances. Radcliffe has always stated how we shouldn’t be treated any differently and feels we are much more complex actual human beings than the stereotypes that we are portrayed as in the media. He’s taking it a bit further by taking on an upcoming film that actually shows us in that spectrum, Here’s more:

In “Kill your Darlings,” slated for release later this year, Daniel Radcliffe plays Allen Ginsberg, who befriends writers William Burroughs and Jack Kerouac while in college. The “Harry Potter” veteran, 23, didn’t shy away from exploring his character’s bisexual side in the movie, which is based on a true story of a murder that entangles the three writers.

On next week’s episode of “The Graham Norton Show,” Radcliffe reveals how director John Krokidas gave him “step-by-step instructions,” including kissing critiques, before the controversial gay sex scenes were shot.

“I was doing a gay sex scene and the director was giving step-by-step instructions,” Radcliffe toward Norton, as quoted by Pink News. “And the favorite note I have ever had was when we were kissing and the director shouted, ‘Not like that. Crazy sex kissing!’”

“The Graham Norton Show” airs stateside on BBC America Thursdays at 10.

I’m sure that Radcliffe will do the role some justice. Can’t wait to see it.

Gay Porn Actor Dustin Michaels Dies After Being Tased During Drug Bust (Video)

Andrew Grande (aka Dustin Michaels) , a 23-year-old gay adult porn star)died after choking on bags of marijuana he had ingested during a police arrest in which he was tasered.

Police had responded to a domestic disturbance call at his home in Panama City, FL. While attempting to handcuff him, Michaels swallowed the baggie and began choking. The police tasered him before administering the Heimlich Maneuver. A camera crew from Tru TV happened to filming the incident for a COPS-style reality TV show.

The laid-back and handsome, the openly gay and self-described “country bumpkin'”  and worked with a variety of amateur sites like OnTheHunt  and CircleJerkBoys but is perhaps best known for his performances in Kink.com’s NakedKombat and Bound Gods sites.

A senseless loss of a human life over a godamn bag of pot and some asshole gungho police.
