Following two shootings inside its stores, Walmart is removing violent video game displays and signs from stores while still keeping displays for free games win real money, the retailer confirmed Thursday. Stores were sent a memo that called for “immediate action” to remove signing and displays that “contain violent themes or aggressive behavior.” The memo circulated on Twitter and Reddit, and Walmart officials confirmed its authenticity to USA TODAY.
“We’ve taken this action out of respect for the incidents of the past week, and this action does not reflect a long-term change in our video game assortment,” said Tara House, a Walmart spokeswoman, in a statement. On Saturday, 22 people were killed at a Walmart store in El Paso, Texas, days after two Walmart managers were killed by a gunman described as a disgruntled worker in a store in Southaven, Mississippi.
Employees were also were asked to shut off hunting season videos in the sporting goods department where guns are sold. “Remove from the sales floor or turn off these items immediately,” the memo said.
But they will still sell guns and allow open carry of guns in their stores.
The National Rifle Association filed a federal lawsuit this afternoon against the state to block a law that had just been signed by Gov. Rick Scott that prohibits gun sales to anyone between the ages of 18 and 21.
“We filed a lawsuit against the state for violating the constitutional rights of 18 to 21 year olds,” said Marion Hammer, lobbyist for the NRA in Florida. NRA lawyers in Tallahassee and Washington D.C. were working on the complaint this afternoon, and filed the complaint moments before the court’s deadline.
It was also filed more than an hour after Scott signed the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Public Safety Act into law. The lawsuit names Attorney General Pam Bondi and Rick Swearingen of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. On related blog about law, checkout florida car accident attorney
The last thing someone posting as Rusty Houser posted on Facebook was in 2013, when he linked to an article called “A woman’s place in the church and the weak church elder.” He wrote, “The bible doesn’t ask me to like what it says, only to obey it. Death comes soon to the financially failing filth farm called the US.” He only had two things liked on Facebook, among them “I hate liberals!” In addition, a John Russell Houser from Phenix City, Alabama, is listed as a member of a group called the Tea Party Nation. However, KATC could not confirm if this John Russell Houser is one in the same with the shooter.
Local police are calling Houser a “drifter from Alabama” who had been living in a nearby hotel since early this month and is reported to have an “old” criminal history.
So why is Houser being referred to as a “troubled” gunman and not a terrorist?
Because he is a white American. And no doubt a republican heterosexual Christian at that.
Zombie Industries, which produces “life-sized tactical mannequin” gun targets that “bleed”
when shot displayed their wares over the weekend at the National Rifle Association Conference in Houston Texas and displayed a zombie mannequin target named Rocky that looked like President Barack Obama.
Asked by Buzzfeed if the resemblance was intentional.
“Let’s just say I gave my Republican father one for Christmas,” one worker replied.
The Ba-“Rocky“mannequins are being sold at Zombie Industries’ website for $89.95 each. The product description states that “Rocky is HIGHLY dangerous due to his quick wit and strength… he was last seen screaming something like, ‘Zombie Industries believes in America!’ And that we do.”
The NRA did ask the vendor to remove the mannequin but it’s not quite clear if they did it on their own or because of the Press on the floor. Regardless, “Rocky” was still available for purchase at the booth but was hidden from sight, leaving a gap among the targets on display which ranged from Osama bin Laden to a Nazi soldier.
A false fire alarm, 45-minute waits to get into the Capitol complex, even the heckling of a bereaved parent of a Newtown shooting victim marked Monday’s day-long legislative hearing on gun control. “The Second Amendment!” was shouted by several gun enthusiasts in the meeting room as Neil Heslin, holding a photo of his 6-year-old son, Jesse Lewis, asked why Bushmaster assault-style weapons are allowed to be sold in the state. “There are a lot of things that should be changed to prevent what happened,” said Heslin, who grew up using guns and seemed undisturbed by the interruption of his testimony.

“We know that the national debate over gun control is one of the most divisive issues in the land, and while Americans are entitled to have strong opinions, there is also language that is inappropriate and offensive in any such discussion. The idea that supporters of gun control are doing something akin to what Hitler’s Germany did to strip citizens of guns in the run-up to the Second World War is historically inaccurate and offensive, especially to Holocaust survivors and their families.” – Anti-Defamation League president Abraham Foxman,
*The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) is an international non-governmental organization that descibes itself as “the nation’s premier civil rights/human relations agency”, the ADL states that it “fights anti-Semitism and all forms of bigotry, defends democratic ideals and protects civil rights for all,” doing so through “information, education, legislation, and advocacy.”
Gun Appreciation Day, a prominent effort backed by conservative media outlets and activists to oppose new gun laws, has accepted the sponsorship of a white nationalist organization to promote and mobilize supporters for its January 19 event. Gun Appreciation Day (GAD) is partnering with American Third Position (A3P), a political group that describes itself as representing “the unique political interests of white Americans.” According to a party official, the organization is composed of “white nationalists.” GAD’s organizers ask supporters to visit “gun stores, gun counters, gun shows, and gun ranges to protest the Obama administration’s post Sandy Hook assault on gun rights.” The event has received significant media coverage and promotion in recent days.
An A3P platform guide urges to: “Return to Americans their traditional right of freedom of association, including voluntary racial separation; the abolishment of all forms of government-mandated and corporate-mandated racial discrimination, such as affirmative action, quotas, and all forms of ‘racial sensitivity training.'”
TOTALwingnut and gun advocate Larry Ward the founder of Gun Appreciation Day appeared on CNN Friday to defend the nationwide gun rally, which is scheduled for Jan. 19 — just two days before Martin Luther King Jr. Day, and insisted that it “honors the legacy of Dr. King.”
“I believe that Gun Appreciation Day honors the legacy of Dr. King. The truth is, I think Martin Luther King would agree with me if he were alive today that if African Americans had been given the right to keep and bear arms from day one of the country’s founding, perhaps slavery might not have been a chapter in our history. And I believe wholeheartedly that’s essential to liberty.”
Gun Appreciation Day, backed by a coalition of crazy right-wing conservative groups, not only coincides with MLK Day, but also Obama’s second inauguration.

There maybe a little integrity and sensitivity left on television after all as the Discovery Channel says it has not renewed “American Guns,” won’t air reruns from its past two seasons and will no longer feature Tea Party lunatic and gun advocate Ted Nugent and has kicked his crazy ass to the curb.
E! News reported that the network did not say whether the decision to cancel the show was directly connected to last week’s mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn but “American Guns” who wrapped its second season Sept. 5. The ratings hit for Discovery.
Raw Story website reported Tuesday a Discovery Channel representative confirmed Nugent will not be featured in future programs.
After Friday’s devastating massacre at the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, the spokesperson said that Nugent would definitely not be returning to the Discovery Channel.
Nugent and his allies at the National Rifle Association (NRA) repeatedly claimed that his hour-long Discovery Channel special was actually a planned “series.” The Detroit native and tea party lunatic told Armed America Radio listeners in October to “expect that there will be at least a dozen shows a year.” The channel’s spokesperson confirmed that this was never actually in the works.
Last April Nugent went on record stating: I’ll tell you this right now, if Barack Obama becomes the president in November again, I will either be dead or in jail by this time next year,”
Little did he know it was actually the unemployment line he was talking about. Which are “entitlements” of course and as a card-carrying Tea Party member he doesn’t believe in. But will be the first in line when it comes to applying and getting them.
