After years of rumors Ian Thorpe, the 5 time gold medal winning Australian Olympic swimmer is beginning to get annoyed at the fact that people think he’s gays.
In a recent television interview with Australia’s, ABC1. Thorpe talked about his bouts of depression after the Olympic games and addressed rumours around his sexuality by coming out as “Straight”
“I was down,” he said.
“I call it the dark times.”
And he said he was at a loss at what to do next after his failed bid for Olympic selection.
“It’s tough to comprehend. I worked so hard to do this, I haven’t really thought about what to do now,” he said.
When asked about his sexual preference he says: “Women”.
However he says that he realised as young as 15 years old that gay men found him attractive.
“Being asked about (being gay) gets annoying,” he says.
“I think people feel threatened by me because they can’t define exactly what I am.”
Thorpe who is currently trying for a comeback in the swimming world has been brutally hounded by the press and tabloids in the past over his sexuality.
