LGBT Donors Begin To Hold Back Money From Dems Until They Stand Up and Do What’s Right

Not One Gay Cent!

Many LGBT Democratic supporters have had it.  Fed up with everything from being thrown under the bus with the removal of LGBT protections in immigration reform to President Obama’s stubborn and stupid refusal to sign an Executive Order barring LGBT workplace discrimination for companies who hold government contracts LGBT donors are beginning to hold back money and support over the fact that the Obama administration and the Democratic party in general is proving itself to be all talk and no action.

One of the growing many of the the disenchanted includes prominent gay Democratic Party donor Jonathan Lewis  who provides fund LGBT groups such as Freedom to Work and gave the maximum amount of $30,800 to the Democratic National Committee and the maximum amount of $2,500 to President Obama’s re-election campaign in the last election cycle.

Said Lewis:

During the immigration reform debate Senate Democrats had the opportunity to reverse some of the harm caused by DOMA and they buckled under pressure, essentially taking LGBT families for granted.  With the president failing to deliver on his promised federal contractor executive order and with Senate Democrats caving to Republican threats, now is the time to stop investing in Democratic cowardice and stand proud by withholding donations until we see our friends’ actions and deeds align with their rhetoric — I will be withholding my donation and asking all of my friends and family members to do the same until such time.”

Steve Ralls, a spokesperson for Immigration Equality, said he’s heard from Democratic donors that they’re “rethinking the political contributions and priorities” following the exclusion of the amendment for gay couples from immigration reform.  “I can assure you that in private conversations, significant Democratic donors have had with our executive director and with other people working on this said they were very disappointed in what happened last week, and they’re looking at where they invest their donations moving forward,” Ralls said.
Its well  past time to flex some muscle, not only withhold not only contributions, but also to shame them and  let them know that we won’t vote for them unless they keep their promises.
No more support on “sweet words and promises”.  ENOUGH!
Support in both money and votes should only come AFTER the Democratic party actually does something substantial for us

“Pink Dollar” Shopping App Debuts In Japan – Gay Money To Gay Friendly Businesses

Paul Ramscar has created a mobile phone shopping “app” called the “Pink Dollar” for use in Japan that is a lot more than just another snippet of smart phone software: it is a social equality-changer that will help end discrimination against gays and lesbians.

It’s not just an app, there is a bigger cause here,” said the former investment banker who hails from Britain and moved to Hong Kong in 2007.

Ramscar believes the software — soon to be launched on Apple iPhones and eventually Android devices — will break down cultural barriers in a city while benefiting the community and LGBT friendly establishments.

“Having lived in Europe, the culture was very open. In London, for example, there is Soho which is a gay area. You can be open, be free; walking around holding hands, there are no problems,” Ramscar said. “In Hong Kong you can’t really do that.”

Users will rate businesses’ LGBT-friendliness with a scale from light to hot pink. A hot pink rating is the friendliest. Those that receive bad reviews will be known and lose LGBT business.

Evan Steer, who has listed a restaurant and a bar with the app, believes it will make a difference.

“At the end of the day, money talks and where money flows, it can influence policy,” he said.

The LGBT market worth is estimated to be that of around $2-3 trillion globally a year.

LGBT Buying Power Equals Over $790 Billion A Year, And We Still Can’t Buy Equality

Witeck Communications which has worked since 1993 on counseling and marketing Fortune 500 companies in the LGBT community has released a report stating that the total buying power of the U.S. lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender adult population for 2012 is projected to be over $790 billion dollars.

Buying power, in the research, is another term for “disposable personal income,” or DPI, which economists define as the total after-tax income available to an individual to spend on personal consumption, personal interest payments or savings.

Buying power is  not the same as affluence or wealth and there is no hint that same-sex households are more affluent than others, which is little more than a stereotype. Bob Witeck of Witeck Communications states “We have seen research from economic research that strongly suggests that gay men may earn slightly less than their heterosexual counterparts, for instance.”

$790 billion dollars a year?  Surely we could buy our Equality for 10 times over for that price./

Perhaps we are just giving to the wrong organizations.  *cough* HRC *cough*

***Speaking of LGBT Money and Donations.  If anyone would like to donate any of thier $790 Billion to a worthy Independent Blog  PLEASE feel free to use the Donation Button on the right hand side of the screen to help us raise funds to attend Netroots Nation 2012 to be held in Providence R.I. in June.

The "Ole Razzle Dazzle" – White House Launches "’Winning the Future’ Website on LGBT Rights

Ahhhhh, smells like re-election time is nearing as The White House has launched a website solely dedicated to highlighting President Obama’s accomplishments related to the LGBT community over the past 4 years and what he “promises for the future” (if elected that is.)

According to Brian Bond, Deputy Director in the White House Office of Public Engagement, who only deals with gay fluff and not substance::

In honor of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender (LGBT) History Month, The White House launched our first ever LGBT specific constituency webpage: http://wh.gov/lgbt . This webpage is designed to keep you updated on how the President and the Administration are Winning the Future for LGBT Americans.

Please take a look at our Winning the Future for LGBT Americans factsheet http://www.whitehouse.gov/sites/default/files/rss_viewer/factsheet_lgbt.pdf and sign up for our e-mail updates http://www.whitehouse.gov/webform/sign-updates-issues-impacting-lgbt-community that will keep you up to speed with what is going on in the Administration. We encourage you to spread the word about this site to your friends, families, and the communities you work with.

Never mind that the list of accomplishments are rather puny as compared to the promises that Obama made us to help him get elected in 2008  Or the fact that when Obama HAD the window of opportunity to push Congress and do substantial LGBT Equality work between 2008 and 2010 he didn’t and pushed the LGBT community to the back of the bus.  Then we have the DADT repeal became a long and drawn out clusterfuck, and not to mention the fact that Obama and the Department of Justice decided not to defend DOMA only AFTER the GOP broke the Democratic stronghold on both houses and the GOP could still defend it.

This is really nothing more than more smoke, mirrors, and the ole razzle dazzle to try to get the LGBT Community back behind him, to open those “gAy ATM’s” once again, and get him re-elected.

The really pathetic thing is.  We don’t have much of a choice

Original Village People Policeman Victor Willis Sues For 1.5 Million in Royalties – BONUS "Go West" Video!

The original policeman from The Village People, Victor Willis is suing the seminal disco band which still tours American claims for $1.5 million in royalties claiming that he recieved none after he left the band in 1979.

Willis claims in a federal lawsuit filed last week he wrote some of  the band’s biggest hits — including “Y.M.C.A.,” “Macho Man,” “In the Navy,” and “Go West” —  and in a federal lawsuit filed last week. Willis is suing Can’t Stop Productions, which handles the rights to the band’s songs.

The group was the brainchild of Jacques Morali, a prolific French music producer. Morali picked Willis, a former Broadway star, to shimmy center stage and write the rhythms.

Willis was inspired to write “Y.M.C.A.” after a clueless Morali asked him about why people went to the Y. The lyrical licks described “what it was like going into a new town and not having a lot of money and needing a place to stay,” he said.

Stewart Levy, a lawyer for Can’t Stop Productions, called Willis’ lawsuit “without merit.

Hawaii Caves To Pressure From So-Called "Christian Groups" Postpones Gay Civil Unions Indefinately – Gays Should Postpone Hawaii Indefinitely

Hawaii House of Representatives which approved a civil unions bill last year, yesterday they voted to postpone a new vote indefinitely caving to enormous pressure from so-called “Christian” groups after the Hawaii Senate approved the bill by a veto-proof majority last week.

Some in the state are concerned about the effect this image may have on gay tourism.  AND WELL THEY SHOULD BE BECAUSE ITS TIME FOR US TO GET SERIOUS!
It’s just as easy to spend money in states that promote civil rights. Where there may not be many States those in New England (Except Maine)and Iowa which both support Gay Marriage and Gay Rights should be supported by our GAY MONEY and those who don’t support us should not get any.
It’s time to spend our money ONLY at gay/gay friendly businesses and to vacation and spend money in gay/gay friendly States.  If anti-gay states and businesses hates queers, they must also hate our queer money.

It’s time to hit the haters where it hurts.  Gay Money at Gay/Gay Friendly Businesses and in Gay Friendly States ONLY!
