Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.) said Thursday he’ll introduce a free-standing bill to repeal the military’s “Don’t ask, don’t tell” policy.
Lieberman said Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) agreed to bring legislation to the floor to do away with the military’s prohibition on openly gay and lesbian service members.
The Connecticut independent said he would introduce the legislation as soon as today with language that mirrors an amendment to the defense authorization bill.
Oh this is RICH! I’m sure Mitch McConnell is going to let Susan Collins help pass a free standing pro-LGBT bill. And do they really expect us to believe that amendments and time won’t matter to to Collins and the ReTHUGS the time?
Will Collins bring any other ReTHUGlicans along? She didn’t today now did she.
And not to mention the fact that even if the bill were to be introduced and passed, it would have to go to the House for passage where Ike Skelton is the chair of the House Armed Services Committee and is a proud homophobe. Pelosi may have a way around him, but this feels like more and more drama, forced by Obama’s refusal to allow the finding of DADT as unconstitutional to stand
This is a bad joke at our expense. Just something to quell the immediate outrage.
One can only imagine what White House and HRC strategy on this one. (Probably like the last time NO STRATEGY!)
Fuck us once shame on us. Fuck us as many times and continually as you have and if we don’t do anything and stand up we are nothing but abusive loving sluts.
DON’T FALL FOR THIS HYPE AND LIES AGAIN!! This is like an abusive husband bringing flowers. “I’m sorry, lets try again. I promise I’ll be better.”
Well it won’t be and we shouldn’t fall for it again.
