Yesterday legendary Hollywood star and two-time Oscar winner Olivia de Havilland announced she is suing FX and producer Ryan Murphy over the unauthorized use of her identity in “Feud: Bette and Joan,”
De Havilland, who resides in France filed the lawsuit in Los Angeles Superior Court against FX Networks, LLC and Ryan Murphy Productions “based on the unauthorized commercial use of Dame Olivia’s name and identity in the FX hit series,” according to her attorneys, Suzelle M. Smith and Don Howarth of Howarth & Smith, noting that all the other real-life major players who are featured in the series are dead.
“Miss de Havilland was not asked by FX for permission to use her name and identity and was not compensated for such use,” her attorneys said in a statement to The Times. “Further, the FX series puts words in the mouth of Miss de Havilland which are inaccurate and contrary to the reputation she has built over an 80-year professional life, specifically refusing to engage in gossip mongering about other actors in order to generate media attention for herself.”
The suit accuses FX and its partners of appropriating de Havilland’s name and identity and placing her in “a false light to sensationalize the series and to promote their own businesses” while ignoring her interests entirely.
“A living celebrity has the right to protect her name and identity from unauthorized, false, commercial exploitation under both common law and the specific ‘right to publicity’ statute in California,” Smith said, asserting that, “FX was wrong to ignore Miss de Havilland and proceed without her permission for its own profit.”
Her legal team plans to file a motion seeking an expedited trial date because of Ms. de Havilland’s age.
Season four of the FX anthology will be set in Jupiter, Fla., in 1950 and will again star Jessica Lange. This time, the Emmy winner will portray a German ex-Pat managing one of the last remaining freak shows in the country.

They’ll play performers that Lange’s character has rescued. Denis O’Hare and Emma Roberts are also in talks to return for season four of the series, which reboots itself every season with a completely new story and often features largely the same cast of repertory players. Michael Chiklis (The Shield, Fantastic Four) will be making his AHS debut
Chiklis will be playing the father to Peters’ character and ex-husband to Bates’ character. Showrunner Ryan Murphy also revealed that everyone on the PaleyFest stage would be returning in season four in “some capacity” including Gabourey Sidibe and Jamie Brewer. Other panelists Friday included Paulson, Roberts, Peters, Bassett, Conroy, O’Hare and Bates as well as producers Murphy,Brad Falchuk, Tim Minear and Dante DiLoreto. In response to an opinion piece written by right wing extremist media watchdog Bent Bozell last week, Kurt Sutter the creator of the FX hit series the Sons of Anarchy ripped Bozell and his organization the Parents Television Council (PTC) a new one in an open letter, calling him a “pathetic fucking douchebag” and deeming PTC a “hate group” with “no real interest in the betterment of children.”
Yes, I often make a fool of myself, that’s the risk one takes for being outspoken and passionate about one’s creative freedom. And no, I don’t think everyone I meet is an idiot, that wouldn’t make sense. I do however think you are an idiot and your not-for-progress organization, idiotic.
Anyone with half-a-cup of brain cells can filter out the noise of your conservative bellowing and hear the truth – it’s all about your own political agenda. You are desperately trying to create a lobby that matters. But you cannot. And it fucking kills you that after all these years, you and your hate club are still flaccid and impotent. And the reasons, sir, are quite obvious. You are not very bright, your message is archaic and loving parents can innately sense that the PTC has no heart and no real interest in the betterment of children.
You reek of McCarthyism and holy water. And right-minded folks can smell you coming a mile away.
So keep holding your non-attended press conferences and writing your little Fox blogs. Because with every post you solidify your true message: I’m just an angry white guy with an exclusionary plan, using fear and god to spread a gospel of ignorance.
And just so you have something to quote from this, to work up the four other members, tell them that the tattoo-covered, liberal freak who writes that baby-killing, urine dunking show, said this: “You’re a pathetic fucking douchebag and I bet your own kids fucking hate you.”
Now THAT is the way you deal with a Right Wing loon.
Bravo Kurt Sutter! Now if only other people would take the the direct way and really speak whats on their minds about these right wing “pathetic fucking douchebags”.

The pair told the star that he is “an advocate for Satan” and that he encourages his audience to cut their lives short by promoting and encouraging sinful behavior. Joking on the different use of the word ‘fag’ on different sides of the Atlantic. Brand quipped that he didn’t know what the problem was, pointing out that a fag is a cigarette. The members of the extremist church said that Madonna and Tom Hanks would end up in hell because of their support for equality, where they would be joined by the Indian peaceful revolutionary Mahatma Gandhi. Brand also introduced the pair of homophobes to his gay friends, who they labelled as “filthy perverts”. Ending the interview, Brand sat between the pair stroking their backs and asking for a kiss.
Watch the video below its brilliant just…freakin…brilliant!
On last nights Season 5 premiere of FX’s Son’s of Anarchy the show created by Kurt Sutter about the lives of a close-knit outlaw motorcycle club hit a series low by using an offensive stereotype “transgender” character stereotype for comic relief.
Okay I just can’t contain myself anymore. The BEST part of this episode was the surprise appearance of Justified’s Walton Goggins, who appears as a partially transexual hooker named Venus Van Dam. He/She is all woman from the waist up, and all man from the waist down. Venus is hired by the Sons to setup a local insurance agent who holds the political clout to make or break Jacob Hale’s dream project, Charming Heights. Jax drugs the agent and brings Venus in to stage some compromising pictures.
Now I’m usually pretty laid back about “characterizations” on television but this is just the straw that breaks the camels back.
Besides the fact that Walter Groggin’s isn’t even a good-looking man to begin with. The character was such a grossly over blown caricature and a negative depiction of a transgender individual, not to mention that the whole “blackmail him because he’s with a transsexual” storyline which is nothing more than throwback to the 60’s “blackmail him because he’s gay and its disgusting” meme that quite frankly I find it I bad taste, highly offensive and it really pisses me off.
Year after year we get told that there are more LGBT characters on television but so many of them are stereotypes used for a cheap laughs and comic relief at the expense of our community and its time for that to stop.
Theres a real need for this type of LGBT exploitation to be kicked to the curb. It’s not a win for us to have characters like Venus Van Damn and Micheal Urie’s character from “Partner’s” on television without any other serious LGBT character representation of our community on television to counter it. And I for one am quiet frankly sick of being uses as a laughline.
Son’s of Anarchy did nothing less than throw a very vulnerable section of the LGBT community under the bus for a cheap laugh. They should be ashamed of themselves. And we should be saying something about it.
Excuse the quality of the clips below. It’s all that’s available at the moment.
