FCC Votes To Dismantle Net Neutrality Rules In 3-2 Vote

The New York Times

The Federal Communications Commission voted on Thursday to dismantle landmark rules regulating the businesses that connect consumers to the internet, granting broadband companies power to potentially reshape Americans’ online experiences.

The agency scrapped so-called net neutrality regulations that prohibited broadband providers from blocking websites or charging for higher-quality service or certain content. The federal government will also no longer regulate high-speed internet delivery as if it were a utility, like phone services.

The action reversed the agency’s 2015 decision, during the Obama administration, to better protect Americans as they have migrated to the internet for most communications.

Ajit Pai, the chairman of the commission, said the rollback of the rules would eventually help consumers because broadband providers like AT&T and Comcast could offer people a wider variety of service options. Mr. Pai was joined in the 3-to-2 vote by his two fellow Republican commissioners.

Republicans are why we can’t have nice things.

HRC Takes Action With FCC Against Anti-Gay Spam Texts

Today the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) is responding to a series of spam texts that have been sent out to voters by filing for a complete investigation with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). The texts were suggestive in nature, stating that because of President Obama’s support of marriage equality, as well as being pro-choice is reason not to vote another term as president:

“Obama endorses the legality of same-sex marriage.  Say No to Obama at the polls on Nov 6.”

“Obama supports homosexuality and its radical social agenda. Say No to Obama on Nov 6!,”

“Obama denies protection to babies who survive abortions. Obama is just wrong,”

“Stop Obama from forcing gay marriage on the states. Your vote is your voice,”

“Seniors cant afford to have 4 more years of Obama budget cuts to Medicare.”

The source of the spam tweets were revealed be that of ccAdvertising, a firm that specializes in politics. The company has a history of doing this before. The violation is because customers pay for their phone/texting services and as a result shouldn’t have to receive these bothersome anti-equality hate messages, especially those that promote hate.  In a letter filed with the FCC, HRC asks that ccAdvertising be fined $10000 for each violation:

The consumers did not ask to receive these text messages and did not give their prior express consent to ccAdvertising to have text messages sent to their cell phones. Because ccAdvertising is a repeated violator of the TCPA, and for the reasons outlined below, we urge you to find that ccAdvertising knowingly and willfully violated the TCPA by sending these texts, and impose the maximum fine of $10,000 per violation.

Good job HRC for taking swift action against this shady company.

LAMBERTGATE – Adam Lambert And The FCC Complaints. – They Have To Be Seen To Be Believed.

Before I start I want to say soemthing to all those who filed FCC complaints.  (Even thought I doubt you are reaing this but I want to get it off my chest.)  I don’t give a flying fuck about what your child watchs on television.  It is no ones job but your own.  And what the hell were you doing letting your kid watch TV at 10:50pm on a school night anyway?

Now with that being said lets take a look at some of the complaints….

The “boy’s town” of Mexico or Bancock? Well I guess they’d know.
And I’m sure in Rainbow City you’ve had alot shoved down your throat.
Isn’t that nice they had a long talk about Adams dick……
I’m surprised this one could pull his knuckles off the floor
So head on over to The Smoking Gun and read the rest. They have twenty-eight of these morally righteous missives posted and they’re all pretty funny… until they get sorta depressing..
