One week after 19-year-old Nikolas Cruz went on a killing rampage at his former high school in Parkland, Florida with his legally purchased AR-15 rifle, the National Rifle Association’s (NRA) CEO and Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre will speak at the American Conservative Union’s CPAC (Conservative Political Action Conference). The NRA is a “presenting sponsor” of CPAC 2018.
Other speakers include Donald Trump, Mike Pence, and Senator Ted Cruz, among other Republican politicians who receive donations from the NRA. The CPAC will take place February 21-24 at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center at National Harbor, Maryland. All four men spoke at CPAC last year.
Also speaking will be anti-LGBT French fascist Marion Le Pen who will appear on the main stage immediately after Mike Pence. Marion’s grandfather, Jean-Marie Le Pen, the founder of the National Front, is perhaps Europe’s most notorious living fascist, having been convicted multiple times for inciting racial hatred and denying the Holocaust.
Reports are coming in via social media across America of a sharp rise in hate crimes and anti-Gay and Anti-llbt harassment by emboldened Trump supporters.
Skywrites took to the wild blue yonder today over Pasadena, CA and wrote out anti-Trump messages over the Rose Bowl Parade today. Among the messages were: “Trump Is A Fascist Dictator” and “Trump Loves To Hate Anybody.” Also: “Iowans Dump Trump” and “America Is Great, Trump Is Disgusting.
In a move reminiscent of Adolf Hitler, Russian President Vladimir Putin has abolished the official state news agency RIA Novosti. Novosti has been known for its very legitimate and balanced news reporting. A new news agency will be be created and headed by Putin supporter and rabid homophobic journalist Dmitry Kiselev
BBC News reports:
In a surprise decree published on the Kremlin’s website on Monday, Mr Putin announced it would be replaced by a news agency called Russia Today. The new agency will be headed by journalist and keen Kremlin supporter Dmitry Kiselev. The state-owned Voice of Russia radio station has also been closed. The decree was effective immediately. For many Kremlin critics in Russia, that phrase suggests this is a sinister move by President Putin, says the BBC’s Daniel Sandford in Moscow. During Mr Putin’s time as Russia’s leader, RIA Novosti has tried hard to produce balanced coverage for Russian and international audiences, our correspondent says. Although state-owned, it has reflected the views of the opposition and covered difficult topics for the Kremlin, our correspondent adds.
In the past Kiselev has been very outspoken about his “issues” with Russia’s LGBT community and has claimed that LGBT bashing victimsdeserve their fate and has said that any gay person is involved in a car accident should have “their hearts should burned” rather than used as organ donations.
Our [Russian] problem with homosexuals is that they behave in a provocative, victim-like way. They deliberately provoke situations, so that they become victims. Nobody prevents them from loving each other the way they want to. They are aggressively foisting minority’s values on the majority. It is likely that society would counteract this. Naturally, right? In various ways, including brutal ones. Since they are brutally foisting this [on others]. Wanna fight? Get it, then. So what?”
Say hello to Russia’s new Ministry of Propaganda. This is Nazi Germany all over again.
The Illinois-based World Congress of Families, which works to promote anti-gay and anti-choice legislation abroad, issued a press release today touting its participation in a worldwide network of conservative groups working to bolster Russia’s recent “gay propaganda” law. The group has joined five other American organizations in signing on to a joint statement [PDF] supporting the law and condemning the related international outrage. Also signing the statement were the Catholic Family and Human Rights Institute, whose president Austin Ruse has spoken out in support of the Russian law; Mission: America, the group led by conservative radio personality Linda Harvey; GrasstopsUSA, a group linked to World Congress of Families spokesman Don Feder; the anti-choice Population Research Institute; and a Christian group called His Servants that sells such books as “An Ounce of Prevention — Preventing the Homosexual Condition in Today’s Youth.”
Here’s the text of the statement:
Statement by worldwide organizations in support of the Russian Federal Law On Protection of Children from Information Harmful to their Health and Development
The signing entities below are highly concerned about the heavy attacks that the Russian Federation is facing due to its recent Federal Law of June 29, 2013 No. 135-FZ “On Amendments to Article 5 of the Federal Law On Protection of Children from Information Harmful to their Health and Development …” that protects innocence and moral formation of children by prohibiting propaganda of “non-traditional sexual relationships” among them.
We affirm that the natural family created through the marriage of a man and a woman is the foundation of any human society and is entitled to protection by society and the State as stated in the international Human Rights norms, including Universal Declaration of Human Rights (Art. 16 (3)). Any harmful initiative for the natural family is destructive for the society as a whole. We also affirm that the children need special protection due to their innocence and immaturity.
We acknowledge that the Russian law protects the innocence of children and the basic rights of their parents recognized in the international legislation and treaties. With its new law Russia is protecting genuine and universally recognized human rights against artificial and fabricated “values” aggressively imposed in many modern societies. We also note that the concepts of “sexual orientation” and “gender identity” are not outlined in the existing binding international treaties and agreements.
We thus call for respect of the sovereignty of the Russian people and we invite all organizations and people who feel responsible for the protection of the innocence of children and their rights, the natural family and parental rights to stand up for Russia, as well as for Ukraine and Moldova suffering the same pressure due to similar laws.
In what can only be describes as a medieval scene of violence a raging mob of thousands of anti-gay fascists led by orthodox priests in Tbilisi, Georgia descended upon a downtown rally designed to commemorate the May 17 International Day against Homophobia attacking LGBT participants and screaming. “Kill them! Tear them to pieces!” in the Georgian capital’s central Freedom Square.
The crowd consisting of mostly young men and orthodox priests — stormed through police barricades armed with stones, poles and other weapons,.
Tbilisi Police managed to get most of the LGBT activists into municipal buses, before angry protesters surrounded the vehicles threw stones and followed the buses as they pushed their way out of the square.
Some LGBT activist managed to seek asylum in a grocery store and police managed to fight off the mob that tried to break into the shop. While outside the square, a mob tried to storm a house, where several gay rights activists had sought refuge.
Few bystanders said or did anything to help the LGBT activists for fear of being targets but a few did speak out.
“Look at yourselves! You call yourselves Christians?” objected one elderly woman in tears, speaking from a balcony. “Go ahead, kill everyone you are told to hate in the name of God and national values.”
The anti-gay protesters had been spurred on by a statement issued by the head of the Georgian Orthodox church, Patriarch Ilia II, who compared homosexuality to a disease and called on the city mayor to ban the march..
Government officials from both the ruling Georgian Dream and President Mikheil Saakashvili’s minority National Movement condemned the violence and blamed each other’s policies for it.
Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili had promised protection for the anti-homophobia march,
“There are people who can’t accept this, but we will do everything to protect the rights of any minority. That is what is going to happen in this case,” he said.
Afterwards, he said that the perpetrators of violence would be dealt with, and defended the action taken by the police. He said more than 2,000 police had been deployed to prevent trouble, but they were “overwhelmed” by several thousand anti-gay demonstrators.
Aleko Tskitishvili, director of the Human Rights Centre in Tbilisi, told reporters that “All those who are to blame for this tragedy must be identified and punished. Neither the priest’s cassock, nor the king’s crown nor the presidential chair should guarantee impunity.”
At least 17 people including journalist ere injured.
