Trump Impeachment Lawyer Jay Sekulow Supports Criminalizing Homosexuality

Trump Impeachment Lawyer Jay Sekulow Supports Criminalizing Homosexuality and Scammed Millions from the Poor

Right Wing Watch reports that in the 1990’s anti-gay Christian crypt keeper Pat Robertson of the Christian Broadcasting Network placed Donald Trump impeachment team lawyer Jay Sekulow to run Robertson’s newly founded American Center for Law and Justice.

Robertson created the ACLJ as an anti-ACLU type group. Sekulow and the ACLJ opposed to laws protecting the rights of LGBT people in the U.S. and abroad. The ACLJ argued on behalf of state laws criminalizing gay sex that were overturned by the Supreme Court in 2003. Sekulow has said that the state has a “compelling interest to ban the act of homosexuality.”

In Africa, ACLJ worked to shape constitutional language in Zimbabwe, where it has fought to maintain criminalization of homosexuality.

Mother Jones report:

Sekulow and his son Jordan opened affiliated offices of the ACLJ in Africa to lobby politicians to “take the Christian’s views into consideration as they draft legislation and policies,” according to ACLJ’s website. ACLJ’s Zimbabwe office has pushed an agenda that backs outlawing same-sex marriage and making sure that homosexuality “remain[s] a criminal activity.” (Zimbabwe had outlawed homosexuality in 2006.)

Zimbabwean president Robert Mugabe is among the most ruthless dictators in the world—but in 2010 ACLJ-Zimbabwe’s chairman, pastor Alex Chisango, led Mugabe and others in prayer to kick off Zimbabwe’s constitutional reform drive. ACLJ wanted to ensure that, whatever else changed in the country’s constitution, homosexuality remained illegal and same-sex marriage was banned.

Sekulow also has a long history of grifting money from the poor in the name of God as reported by the Guardian:

Documents obtained by the Guardian show Sekulow approved plans to push poor and jobless people to donate money to his Christian nonprofit, which since 2000 has steered more than $60 million to Sekulow, his family and their businesses.

Telemarketers for the nonprofit, Christian Advocates Serving Evangelism (Case), were instructed in contracts signed by Sekulow to urge people who pleaded poverty or said they were out of work to dig deep for a “sacrificial gift”.

“I can certainly understand how that would make it difficult for you to share a gift like that right now,” they told retirees who said they were on fixed incomes and had “no extra money” – before asking if they could spare “even $20 within the next three weeks”.

Other scripts that Sekulow contact representatives used to raise money siad that money was needed for Case’s “massive campaign to repeal and replace Obamacare” and that the “Christian” US was under siege from both Muslim terrorists and a liberal political elite led by President Obama supposedly desperate to increase the national abortion rate.

Tulsi Gabbard’s Anti-Gay History Surfaces After 2020 Presidential Announcement

Tulsi Gabbard’s Anti-Gay History Surfaces After 2020 Presidential Announcement

Only one day after Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-Hawaii) announced that she was running for president in the 2020 election her past anti-gay comments are coming back to haunt her.

In February 2004, Gabbard, at the time a 22-year-old state representative, was testifying against a bill aimed at legalizing same-sex civil unions.“To try to act as if there is a difference between ‘civil unions’ and same-sex marriage is dishonest, cowardly and extremely disrespectful to the people of Hawaii,” she said. “As Democrats, we should be representing the views of the people, not a small number of homosexual extremists.”

Later that same year Gabbard while replying to an email originally sent to her father, Mike Gabbard, who was a Republican city councilman in Honolulu running for Congress about her father;s ties to the Hare Krishna movement in Hawaii, wrote:

“It’s clear to me that you’re acting as a conduit for The Honolulu Weekly and other homosexual extremist supporters of Ed Case [Mike Gabbard’s opponent].

Since her switching parties from Republican to Democrat Gabbard may back legislation that supports the LGBT community, but it’s unclear if her personal views have evolved

A 2016 profile of the combat veteran published in Ozy suggests otherwise: “She tells me that, no, her personal views haven’t changed, but she doesn’t figure it’s her job to do as the Iraqis did and force her own beliefs on others,” noted reporter Sanjena Sathian.

Jake Tapper Nukes Donald Trump On Real Time With Bill Maher: ‘I’ve Never Seen This Level Of Falsehood’

CNN news anchor Jake Tapper appeared on Friday’s “Real Time with Bill Maher” saying about Donald Trump that that the problem of politicians lying “wasn’t invented on January 20” following Trump’s inauguration but that in all his years of reporting on politics, he’d “never really seen this level of falsehood, just quantitatively.” It’s not just ‘If  you like your doctor you can keep your doctor,’ it’s conspiracy theories based on nothing that have members of his own party distancing themselves from him.” Maher asked how Tapper’s work had changed since the inauguration, and pointed to his trend in “speaking truth to crazy.”

Tapper also criticized Trump for waging war on the media. “We’re all ‘fake news,’” he said. “All of us except for ‘Fox & Friends.”

Politifact and Lawyers Agree North Carolina Gov Pat McCrory’s Claims About Anti-LGBT Law HB2 Are LIES.

Politifact and Lawyers Agree North Carolina Gov Pat McCrory's Claims About Anti-LGBT Law HB2 Are LIES.

North Carolina Governor Pat McCrory for the past week has accused civil rights groups and LGBT activists of  “distorting the truth,” and “smearing our state in an inaccurate way” against his anti-LGBT bill, HB2.

“I hope the media starts putting out more accurate information on the facts between a basic common sense bill which allows businesses to determine their own restroom and shower and locker room facilities, not government.

I frankly think some of the media has failed miserably in communicating the clear facts, especially the national media with the New York Times and the Washington Post and the Huffington Post and we’re trying to clarify that [sic] facts. I hope you put out the accurate information about the true facts of a common sense ordinance.”

McCrory also claimed HB2 has “not taken away any rights that currently existed in any city in North Carolina.” and that “every city and every corporation has the exact same discrimination policy this week as they had two weeks ago.”

Well the good folks at Politifact, the non-partisan Pulitzer Prize winning arm of the Tampa Bay Times and a few lauyers have taken took Gov. McCrory to task over his comments. And as it turns out. McCrory is not only a homophobic bigot. But also a blatant liar.

Politifact fact-checkers reported  on Wednesday that Pat McCrory is wrong and lying when he says North Carolina’s new LGBT law doesn’t take away existing rights.

“HB2 specifically says that local governments do not have the right to put [nondiscrimination] requirements on contractors,” Politifact says, adding, “it also took away a right that had previously been available to residents of any and every city in the state – the ability to file a state lawsuit over discriminatory firing.”

Discrimination attorney, Laura Noble, said, “I won’t refer to this as a ‘bathroom bill’ because that’s really not what it’s about.” Noble sais proving that North Carolina’s politicians played on peoples uneducated fears of the transgender community to disguise its true intentions and that the law is “about the elimination of discrimination protections” for the emtire LGBT community.

“This is a seismic issue,” Eric Doggett, a Raleigh, NC employment discrimination lawyer told Politifact. “It’s huge. It’s a massive loss of rights, and it happened with almost no debate.”

Politifact concludes HB2 “took away the rights of cities to put certain anti-discrimination requirements on private contractors, and it nullified existing policies like in Carrboro and Raleigh.

HB2 “takes away the right of everyone in North Carolina to file a state-level lawsuit alleging a discriminatory firing, according to attorneys who represent both employers and employees in those cases.

Politifact has proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that Pat McCrory is a liar and that HB2 is a Trojan horse designed to take away civil rights from all LGBT North Carolinians.

That is the “accurate information on the facts “.

Anti-Gay Day Students At Pennsylvania High School EXPOSED! Do You Know These Bigots In Training?

Anti-Day day revealed

McGuffey High School in Claysville, Pennsylvania made headlines over the weekend when a group of students organized an “Anti-Gay Day’ in direct retaliation to the LGBT youth-supportive National Day of Silence (NDOS) on Friday.

Via GPhilly:

A student named Ashley, wrote to G Philly saying that organizers of the anti-gay movement asked students to wear flannel shirts and write “anti-gay” on their hands if they opposed the LGBT community. “Stickers and flyers are also being placed around the school and on queer kids’ lockers that read ‘ANTI-GAY,’ she wrote. “This movement is a retaliation of the Day Of Silence that was set in place to remember people whose lives have ended due to LQBTIA bullying. The ‘Anti-Gay’ club, to begin with, is an obvious sign of bullying and discrimination.

All across the internet this weekend a picture of the male students who organized the hatefest  was published with their faces digitized out.

We at Back2Stonewall think that these not-so-brave homophobic miscreants should get the full attention that they deserve, so we have decided to publish the un-doctored photo’s of the boys for all the world to see.

Their parents must be so proud.

BUSTED!: NOM’s Brian Brown Caught Telling Anti-Gay Activist To Use The “Christian Victim” Angle (Audio)

Brian Brown

National Organization for Marriage hate group President Brian Brownshirt has been exposed pushing the fake “Christian victim” agenda on audio tape telling other anti-gay groups to do the same thing.

Right Wing Watch reports that on a conference call in February about Arizona’s proposed “right to discriminate” bill, Brown counseled fellow anti-gay activists to turn accusations of bigotry and persecution around and accuse gay rights activists of “anti-religious” and “anti-Christian bigotry.”

Whether it’s being forced to photograph a ceremony that you don’t agree with, forced to create a same-sex marriage wedding cake that you don’t agree with, whatever it is, that’s a very different thing than saying this is somehow Jim Crow all over again. In fact, it’s the reverse. What proponents of same-sex marriage are attempting to do is to coerce Americans to leave their faith at the door when they enter the public square, leave their faith at the door if they own a business.

So, when they bring up discrimination, we need to turn it on its head and say, this is about anti-religious, specifically in some cases, anti-Christian religious bigotry, and there’s no place for this in this country. The discrimination is there, but right now what’s happening is the discrimination is coming from those that want to punish, repress and marginalize individuals and organizations that stand up for their religious beliefs.

And what they’re trying to do is to constrain religious liberty to a new term: freedom of worship. Well, our founders didn’t die and come here for freedom of worship, they came here for religious liberty, to practice in the public square, not only within their houses of worship what they believed, but to go out into the community and act on it. And this is one of the important points when we debate this, is to not accept this new language of quote-unquote ‘freedom of worship.’ We believe in religious liberty, we believe in freedom of conscience. We don’t accept the idea that people should be punished in the public square for trying to live out the Gospel call.

Judge That Struck Down Michigan’s Same Sex Marriage Ban Calls Mark Regnerus A Hack

Mark Regnerus

U.S. District Judge Bernard Friedman (appointed to the federal bench in 1988 by Republican demon President Ronald Reagan) who this weekend  struck down the state of Michigan’s marriage discrimination amendment as unconstitutional had some choice words for “expert witness” Mark Regnerus

Friedman slams Regnerus in his ruling going so far as to use quotation marks around the word “study” when referring to Regnerus’s right-wing-funded, discredited New Family Structures Study that claimed same-sex couples make inferior parents:

The court finds Regnerus’s testimony entirely unbelievable and not worthy of serious consideration. The evidence adduced at trial demonstrated that his 2012 ‘study’ was hastily concocted at the behest of a third-party funder, which found it ‘essential that the necessary data be gathered to settle the question in the forum of public debate about what kinds of family arrangement are best for society’ and which ‘was confident that the traditional understanding of marriage will be vindicated by this study.'”…

While Regnerus maintained that the funding source did not affect his impartiality as a researcher, the Court finds this testimony unbelievable. The funder clearly wanted a certain result, and Regnerus obliged.

Whatever Regnerus may have found in this ‘study,’ he certainly cannot purport to have undertaken a scholarly research effort to compare the outcomes of children raised by same-sex couples with those of children raised by heterosexual couples. It is no wonder that the NFSS has been widely and severely criticized by other scholars, and that Regnerus’s own sociology department at the University of Texas has distanced itself from the NFSS in particular and Dr. Regnerus’s views in general.” – U.S. District Judge Bernard Friedman

That sound you hear is the final “flush” of any further “expert testimony” and any possible legitimate research career for Mark Regnerus

EXPOSED: Eric Cantor Rigged The House Rules Weeks Ago So The Government Stays Shut Down

Eric Cantor

New details have come to light that not only has the Republican Party been  planning to shut down the Government for months but also that Majority Leader Eric Cantor quietly on Sept. 30 helped change the House of Representatives rules to guarantee that Republicans could keep the government closed regardless if a bipartisan majority found a way to re-open the government.

According to Chris Van Hollen (D-MD), the ranking member of the House Budget Committee, “What people don’t know is that they rigged the rules of the House to keep the government shut down. This is a blatant effort to make sure that the Senate bill did not come up for a vote” and a near certainty the government will stay shut down until Republicans deem the public has suffered enough damage. Apparently that was part of the conservative’s plan all along according to the right’s talking heads who exposed the Republican ploy to make federal employees suffer.

According to regular House rules, if there is an impasse on a bill or resolution between the House and Senate, a motion to dispose of any amendment shall be privileged that simply means “any motion from any member should be allowed to proceed to end the gridlock.” However, Republicans changed the rule by adding that “any motion may be offered only by the Majority Leader or his designee” that guaranteed even though the Democratic Senate caved and met House Republican budget demands, only Eric Cantor had the power to stop the shutdown by allowing a vote to end the closure after it began.

John Boehner has continually lied that he did not want a government shutdown and continued his lies when Republicans offered to raise the debt limit for 6 weeks, but only if they can keep the government closed.

This has been a set up from the start by the entire Republican Party.  Don’t be fooled.

To quote LBJ: “You can tell a caucus from a cactus because, with a cactus, all the pricks are on the outside.”

20-year-old Student Accuses Bradlee Dean Ministries of Being A Cult

Bradlee Dean culkt leader

A 20-year-old Iowa college student who worked for Bradlee Dean’s “You Can Run But You Cannot Hide” ministry until late last month, has gone public with allegations that “the ministry”  is actually a cult and that Dean is a crook after he was hired for a job and instead Dean took all his money, mentally abused him and kept him alienated from the world.

Dean is best know for being Michelle Bachmann’s boy toy, kicked out of WalMart parking lots for fake “Christian”  ministry begging, and who also  filed a $50 million defamation lawsuit against Rachel Maddow which he lost and now refuses to pay the court ordered legal fees.

Dagel’s press release reads:

FORMER EMPLOYEE OF BRADLEE DEAN’S MINISTRY SAYS MINISTRY IS A CULT

***Former employee of You Can Run But Can Not Hide International says ministry is a cult and donations are being abused***

Jake Dagel, a former employee of Bradlee Dean’s Minnesota based ministry, You Can Run But Can Not Hide International, is publicly coming forward today to share his experiences while working with the ministry. Dagel believes the ministry is a cult who manipulates and controls the minds of its employees. Dagel has also found through investigation that the ministry has abused donation money.

Dagel, a 20 year old student from Iowa first came into contact with Dean’s ministry when he invited him to speak at his community college in Iowa. Two weeks after the presentation Dagel became an employee of the ministry and joined the street evangelism team. While on the team Dagel traveled the country with the ministry to share the gospel in public locations.

Dagel reports that while working with the street evangelism team he was belittled and told he knew little about how Christianity worked, there was little for him back at home, was forced to tithe to the ministry, and that not talking to his family was normal. Dagel was also not allowed to watch television and was told to not pay attention to any media.

While traveling back from Florida on Saturday, June 29th the evangelism team made a stop around 3:00 AM in Pulawski, Tennessee to get gas. Dagel was told it was his turn to pay for gas but did not have the money to do so. Dagel was then instructed to either pay for gas or grab his belonging and get out of the vehicle. Because Dagel was without money to pay for the gas he got out of the vehicle while members of the ministry drove off to their destination.

Upon further investigation Dagel has found that according to You Can Run International’s 2011 IRS Form 990, President Bradlee Dean was paid $80,261 in compensation and $41,860 in housing allowance in 2011 for a total of $122,121. This is an increase of a $24,931 from the 2009 IRS Form 990. Secretary Jacob MacAulay was paid $55,604 in compensation and $25,678 in housing allowance for a total of $81,282 in 2011. This is an increase of $14,385 from the 2009 IRS Form 990.

“This so called ministry is clearly a cult due to the way it manipulates and controls its employees,” said Dagel. “It is also clear that the ministry abuses donation money by its administrators taking large housing allowances when many of its employees struggle to pay their own bills. I am making this information public in hopes that others will reconsider being employed by the ministry and giving them any money in donation.”

An investigation in 2011 and reported here at Back2Stonewall also shows that Bradlee Dean is not an ordained minister of any mainstream domination and bought his  “ministry credentials” in 2004 to sever himself from the Government.

Mike Signorile: Grassroots Activists And NOT Gay Inc. Got Us To The Supreme Court – TESTIFY!

Bitchslap

“Whether it was ACT UP organizing civil disobedience at the height of the government ignorance of the AIDS epidemic in the late ’80s, or Get Equal members chaining themselves to the White House fence to push the president on ‘don’t ask, don’t tell,’ it took brave people who put their reputations, their privacy, their futures, their jobs, their families and sometimes literally their own bodies on the line to push things forward. They withstood attack not just from antigay zealots, the police and the media, but from the gay establishment, telling them to just be good little boys and girls.

“Sometimes these champions weren’t even gay themselves but were allies of gay rights as well: When San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom began marrying couples in San Francisco in 2004, the Democratic establishment, and the gay establishment which is very much a part of it, went ballistic. It affected Newsom’s political career, but there’s no doubt Newsom is a hero of marriage equality whose action was pivotal.

“If not for grass-roots activists pressuring President Obama, gay leaders seemed likely to have given him a pass on ‘don’t ask, don’t tell’ repeal in his first term and on defending DOMA in court, let alone moving forward on marriage equality. So let’s not forget these brave people as we watch all the talk shows and read the media interviews which highlight the very gay leaders who were often opposed to the exact strategy they’re now embracing.” – Michelangelo Signorile

Remember way back when in May 2009, when AMFER (who as led by Chad Griffin before he sold out to HRC  lined up Ted Olson and David Boies to argue the  shit out of Prop 8′s unconstitutionality, America and California’s Gay Inc.  groups were furious.

HRC joined Freedom to Marry, ACLU, Lamda Legal, GLAAD,  Log Cabin Republicans, and PFLAG in  denouncing the Perry v. Schwarzenegger lawsuit, saying in an open  letter, “Rather than filing premature lawsuits, we need to talk to our friends,  family and neighbors, and help them understand why denial of the freedom to  marry is wrong.”

They bitched and moaned and wanted no part of it.  UNTIL it looked like it might actually win and then they made a 360 and started taking credit for it.

These Gay Inc. groups proved that while they remain sometimes SLIGHTLY useful, they  are not necessary to securing LGBT rights.

That has been proven,  And that is the way it should be.
