A challenge has been filed in federal court in Tallahassee by the National Center for Lesbian Rights on behalf of Equality Florida and Family Equality alleges that Florida’s newly signed “Don’t Say Gay” law violates the First Amendment and other provisions of the U.S. Constitution.

A statement announcing the lawsuit says the law deliberately employs broad terms and invites arbitrary and discriminatory enforcement, empowering parents to be roving censors who can sue school boards for damages based on any perceived violation. The filing seeks to block the law from taking effect and also names Florida Education Commissioner Richard Corcoran and other education officials as defendants.

Andrew Spar, president of the Florida Education Association union, said the law is a politically motivated weapon against the LGBT community because elementary schools, especially in kindergarten through third grade, do not teach about these subjects and have state curriculum standards guiding classroom lessons.

DeSantis and other Republicans have repeatedly described the rules as reasonable, saying children should learn about sexual orientation and gender identity from their parents, not in schools.

“We will make sure that parents can send their kids to school to get an education, not an indoctrination,” the governor said when he signed it into law this week.

The Republican-controlled Texas State Board of Education rejected proposals in a series of votes Thursday and Friday to teach students in public school health classes that everyone, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity, deserves to be treated with dignity and respect.

Board member Ruben Cortez, D-Brownsville, proposed standards requiring students in Grades 7-8 and high school be able to define and differentiate between sexual orientation and gender identity. Two other proposals called for students to learn that everyone deserves to be treated with dignity and respect, regardless of their orientation or identity. Board Democrats and one Republican backed all four proposals, but nine Republicans voted them down.

“Imagine the tragic message state board members have sent by refusing to acknowledge that LGBT students even exist in our classrooms,” said Carisa Lopez, political director for the Texas Freedom Network., “The board had a chance to stand with young people who are looking to feel safe and respected in their schools. A majority of board members chose to abandon them and stand with the bullies instead.”

Mary Elizabeth Castle, policy advisor at the 501(c)(3) non-profit anti-LGBT hate group Texas Values countered: “Today, we are grateful that the State Board of Education voted to stick to education and teach children how to live a healthy and productive life as opposed to confusing them with controversial political ideologies. The statewide Health standards look nothing like Austin ISD’s radical sex education propaganda; and efforts to politicize Science failed.”

Middle School Bus Driver In Alabama Distributes Anti-Gay Literature To Students

Daphne Middle School anti-gay Literature

In Daphne, Alabama this week parents were shocked and appalled that some students at Daphne Middle School came home this week with anti-gay literature that was brought onto the bus and distributed by its driver.

The material, according to a Baldwin County School District spokesman, was photocopied out of a book speaking out against homosexuality. District spokesman Terry Wilhite said, in an email to AL.com, that administrators retrieved the copies, told the students the material was not sanctioned by the school nor the school system and that parents were notified. The bus driver, whose name was not released, was told the action was not acceptable, Wilhite said.

The matter was addressed by the school system’s human resources office, but Wilhite said there has not been a determination on what type of disciplinary action will take place.

The Hands On Children’s Museum of Jacksonville, Florida is on the defensive after getting caught telling Karen Lee-Duffell and her family that they have to pay extra after noticing  “Mom and Mom” on their membership form renewal:  “She said ‘oh wait no, you’re going to have pay an extra ten dollars to add this  other mom, you can’t have two moms’ and she points up at the sign, a family  membership consists of one mom and one dad,” said Lee-Duffell.

Well now after an outcry from the public the children’s museum is now playing the victim saying it is being slandered with false accusations and is overwhelmed with the  amount of online and over the phone complaints and add that it couldn’t possible  discriminate against anyone because its policies are not discriminatory:

“The  Jacksonville “Hands On” Children’s Museum has never discriminated  against  anyone. But in fact the “Hands On” Children’s Museum , it’s  employees, the  board members, the donators and sponsors, the director,  the directors family  and her husbands church are being discriminated  against, attacked and  threatened. The director was yelled at and  screamed at and feels the Hands On  Children’s Museum deserves an apology for how the museum is being treated. This  is a children’s museum.

Yeah, yeah.

‘This is a children’s museum.’  In the most bigoted cities in the country run by bigots.

Mitt Romney Had Every Child Born To Gay Parents Investigated While Governor of Massachusetts

To comply with the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court ruling that legalized gay marriage in 2003 in that state, the state MA Registry of Vital Records and Statistics said it needed to revise its birth certificate forms for babies born to same-sex couples.

Then Governor Mitt Romney, who opposed idea of children raised by gay couples, rejected the Registry of Vital Records plan and insisted that his top legal staff individually review the circumstances of every birth to same-sex parents despite a warnings from a Department of Public Health lawyer who said such a system placed the children of same-sex parents at an unfair disadvantage and wasting millions of dollars in Massachusetts tax payer dollars.

In remarks that Romney delivered before the Senate Judiciary Committee in Washington in which he decried the state Supreme Judicial Court’s ruling Romney said: “The children of America have the right to have a father and a mother. What should be the ideal for raising a child? Not a village, not ‘parent A’ and ‘parent B,’ but a mother and a father.’’

Romney also warned about impact of gay parents raising children. “Scientific studies of children raised by same-sex couples are almost nonexistent,’’ he said. “It may affect the development of children and thereby future society as a whole.’’

Romney’s legal staff individually reviewed and investigated every birth to same-sex parents until Romney was voted out of office.

Oh Sweet Cookie Jesus – Conservative Religious Groups Boycott Girl Scout Cookies Over Trans Inclusive Rule

World Net Daily (Which I won’t link to because I don’t want them to get extra traffic) and other conservative religious groups are running to the aid of a 14 year  Girl Scout who is upset that The Girl Scouts organization policy is allowing transgender girls to join and so she is calling for the BOYCOTT of Girl Scout cookies and the conservative religious organizations are supporting her.

After controversy arose over the potential admission of Colorado 7-year-old Bobby Montoya last month, The Girl Scouts of Colorado released a statement explaining, “We accept all girls in kindergarten through 12th grade as members. If a child identifies as a girl and the child’s family presents her as a girl, Girl Scouts of Colorado welcomes her as a Girl Scout.” Rachelle Trujillo, vice president for communications of the Colorado Girl Scouts, added, “If a child is living as a girl, that’s good enough for us. We don’t require any proof of gender.” According to a report in the Baptist Press, Trujillo also affirmed transgendered children are currently serving in Girl Scout troops across the U.S., though she declined to give details.

The 14 year old little bigot identified as Taylor from Ventura County, Calif. – but whose parents have asked her last name and troop number be withheld – made a YouTube video calling for the boycott after she was shocked to discover Girl Scouts USA, or GSUSA, has been admitting transgender boys who claim to be girls into scout troops

Gee isn’t Taylor lucky that she lives in a place where they don’t segregate girl scout troops to keep the blonde, blue-eyed girls protected from those with a darker skin?

As for the boycott….

Virginia Rules Adoption Agencies CAN Discriminate Against Gays & Lesbians

Yesterday The Virginia Board of Social Services in a  5-1 vote cleared the way for state-licensed adoption agencies to discriminate not only against gat and lesbian couples but also against couples whose , political beliefs, age, disability, gender, and family status are not to the adoption agency’s personal liking.

The Catholic church  urged the Social Services board to keep out protections against discrimination based on sexual orientation saying that it framed matter of religious freedom and no one has a “right” to adopt a child.

After Wednesday’s decision, Virginia Catholic Conference executive director Jeff Caruso said that the board “affirmed the work of faith-based agencies and the important right of religious freedom in the state of Virginia.

Catholics,  conservatives, and the state of Virginia  care more about their bigotry than they do about the well-being of children without homes.

Report – 2 Million Children Denied Basic Safeguards Because of Anti-LGBT Laws In The USA

A new report out from the Family Equality Council, Center for American Progress, the Movement Advancement Project, the National Association of Social Workers and the Child Welfare League of America has found that almost 2 million children suffer in America from receiving basic safeguards from the United States Government and private sectors because of anti-gay laws, bias, and stigma.

“There are myriad ways that our families are discounted by government at all levels, and children are hurt the most,” said Jennifer Chrisler of the Family Equality Council, one of the three groups authoring the report.

Among the barriers and inequities they face, as detailed in the report:

—Many government safety net programs use definitions of family tied to marital status which may exclude same-sex partners.

—Because of lack of legal recognition for their unions, gay and lesbian parents can face heavier tax burdens, higher costs for health insurance, and diminished financial protections in the event of death or disability.

—When same-sex parents separate, one parent may lose custody or visitation rights, even in cases where he or she had been a child’s primary caregiver

And to add insult to injury the children are invisible to the United States Goverment because the U.S. census does not attempt to count the number of children being raised by gays and lesbians.

Demographer Gary Gates of the UCLA School of Law’s Williams Institute, who has been a consultant to the Census Bureau, estimates the number at 1.2 million, while the new report uses the figure of 2 million, including children with bisexual and transgender parents.

This is unacceptable.  And the Federal Government must be held accountable.  Its bad enough that they deny us our basic human rights.  But when they hurt our children its proves its well past time to stand up and say enough is enough and demand recognition and equality for us all.

11 Year Old Ohio Boy Tyler Wilson Bullied And Has His Arm Broken Because He Joined The Cheerleading Squad (Video)

11 year old Tyler Wilson’s Mom is MAD AS HELL and for good reason.  Tyler who is in the 6th grade had his arm broken Aug. 31 by a footballer-playing classmate at Glenwood Middle School after he and another boy began fighting with Tyler and calling him a “sissy” because Tyler joined the cheerleading squad.  Kristy Wilson, Tyler’s mother wants her son’s assailants to be prosecuted. “I want the criminal charges because I want this kid to know it’s not okay.” And that’s just what’s happening; the assailants now face assault charges.

Now remember this is not about Tyyler being gay.  He’s only 11 years old and most probably isn’t  This is about him being stereotyped as being gay and being bullied for it.

Tyler says “It feels horrible that they can’t accept me for who I am. It’s my choice. If I want to be a cheerleader, I’m going to be a cheerleader. … I’m going to keep going. I want to make a lifestyle out of it.” And because Tyler is the coolest cat around: “I think it’s kind of sad because they won’t accept me for who I am. I think they’re jealous…that I get to hang around a bunch of girls.”

So they next time you run into some Tea bagging Republican who says that there’s no need for bullying laws just tell them about Tyyler.  If I had my way the assailants parents would be prosecuted along with their children on the same charges.  Make that a law and watch how quickly school bullying stops.
