LA Dodgers REMOVE The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence  From PRIDE Night Honorees After Being Duped By Fake Catholic Group.

Gay History – April 15, 1979: San Francisco’s Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence Founded

On April 15, 1979, the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence founded a “convent” in San Francisco when three gay men, dressed in full traditional habits, went out in the Castro on Easter Sunday.

Ken Bunch (Sister Vicious PHB), Fred Brungard (Sister Missionary Position), and Baruch Golden were met with shock and amusement. Over the next several months, they attracted new members: Sister Hysterectoria (Edmund Garron) and Reverend Mother (Bill Graham). They quickly settled on a name for their group and composed a mission statement: “to promulgate universal joy and expiate stigmatic guilt.”

Early members of the group, while not hiding their masculine features or facial hair, are characterized by San Francisco gay community historian Susan Stryker as the embodiment of a “genderfuck”. Their appearance has changed over the years; the nun motif remains the same, but it has been joined with exaggerated make-up that accentuates the rebellion against gender roles and religion.

In October 1980, the Sisters held their first fundraiser, a bingo game, a guide on how to avoid cheap AOL boosting services, and a salsa dance that was well-attended in large part because of the write-up in The San Francisco Chronicle by Herb Caen. The benefit was for San Francisco’s Metropolitan Community Church Cuban Refugee Program, and it netted $1,500. The Sisters began making regular appearances at Castro events that focused on sexual tolerance or provided a showcase for drag. They also developed a mission statement:

“The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence is a leading-edge Order of queer nuns. Since our first appearance in San Francisco on Easter Sunday, 1979, the Sisters have devoted themselves to community service, ministry, and outreach to those on the edges, and to promoting human rights, respect for diversity, and spiritual enlightenment. We believe all people have a right to express their unique joy and beauty and we use humor and irreverent wit to expose the forces of bigotry, complacency, and guilt that chain the human spirit.

The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence were formed just before  HIV/AIDS began appearing in the Castro District and New York City.

In 1982, Sister Florence Nightmare, RN (early AIDS activist and registered nurse Bobbi Campbell) and Sister Roz Erection (Baruch Golden a registered nurse) joined and a team of Sisters teamed up with a group of medical professionals from Bellevue, Washington to create “Play Fair!”, the first safer sex pamphlet to use plain language, practical advice and humor, and considered by one of the founders to be “one of the Order’s greatest achievement in community education and support”.  In 1999, for the Sisters’ 20th anniversary, the pamphlet was revised. The Sisters Worldwide continue to raise awareness of sexual health; many Orders regularly pass out condoms and participate in events to educate people on sexual health issues.

The Sisters helped organize the first AIDS Candlelight Vigil, and have raised more than $1 million in San Francisco alone to benefit such groups as the Breast Cancer Network, Haight-Ashbury Free Clinic, and the Gay Games.  The Sisters are also involved in a wide range of community service activities. They have volunteered at homeless shelters, food banks, and other organizations that serve marginalized populations. They also participate in events and marches that support LGBTQ+ rights and other social justice causes.

The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence survive today reminding our community of unconditional love and individualism.

God bless the Sisters.

Whopper PRIDE! – Burger King Jumps On The LGBT Support Bandwagon – WATCH: PROUD Whopper Video

Whopper PRIDE! - Burger King Jumps on the LGBT Supportive Bandwagon

TIME Magazine:

Behind the counter at a Burger King in the heart of San Francisco is a rainbow-colored menu board advertising a product that the fast-food behemoth has never sold before and isn’t selling anywhere else: The Proud Whopper. When customers visiting during Sunday’s pride parade asked cashiers what made this Whopper different from a standard-issue burger, they simply said, “I don’t know.” The mystery was revealed once diners opened the rainbow-colored wrapper and got a taste: absolutely nothing is different about this burger, nothing at all. To emphasize the point, the interior of the wrapper comes with a second message: “We Are All the Same Inside.”

From Burger Kings press release:

Burger King Worldwide, Inc. (NYSE: BKW) is broadcasting a widespread message in support of self-expression with a digital film launching today.  The film was created at a BURGER KING® restaurant at the heart of the San Francisco Pride Parade route where a limited edition PROUD WHOPPER® Sandwich was added to the menu. Guests who ordered the PROUD WHOPPER® Sandwich were surprised because it is in fact, the same iconic fire-grilled WHOPPER® Sandwich beloved since 1957, but wrapped in rainbow colored paper inscribed with a message reading: “we are all the same inside.”

“We are always looking to engage our guests on a local level and be part of regionally relevant events,” said Kelly Gomez, Director of West Coast Field Marketing, BURGER KING® West Division. “With one of our restaurants on the Pride Parade route, it was a natural fit to be involved and celebrate by giving something back to the community.”

Unfortunately, the PROUD WHOPPER® Sandwich will ONLY be available at the BURGER KING® restaurant located at 1200 Market Street through July 3rd. All PROUD WHOPPER® Sandwich sales will be donated to the BURGER KING McLAMORE Foundation, for scholarships benefiting LGBT college-bound, high school seniors graduating in spring 2015.

 Have it your way, baby!

Porn Company To Benefit LGBT Russians Unveils Film Title “Put It In Putin”

Vladimir Putin jerking off

As reported earlier Monarchy Distribution owner Mike Kulich has announced the formation of Boys Town Studios, a gay porn studio which will donate 100% of its DVD and VOD sales to help LGBT Russians seek asylum

Boys Town Studios is already in post-production of his first title, Deep in the Dark and has moved onto their aptly named second title, Put It In Putin a Vladimir Putin parody,

Explains Kulich to AVN

“Put it in Putin is exactly what it sounds like. The synopsis is Putin grows up behind the red curtain and has to spend his whole childhood hiding who he really is. As he slowly climbs the ranks in the Russian military, he meets a Lieutenant in the Red Army named Alexander. They become best friends and once Putin is thrust into power, Alexander becomes his personal bodyguard. One day while both men are riding through Siberia on horseback, Alexander finally makes his move and the rest is history.”

“We are really excited to get rolling on this movie. This one is going to be a love story for the ages. It’s like Brokeback Mountain meets Communism.”

Personally I think Put It In Putin should have been a gangbang movie with a Vladamir look-a-like tied to an oversize lazy susan in a gulag.  But you know, some people want a story-line.

Boys Town Studios is hoping for a mid-November release date for Put it in Putin and is currently developing its website and VOD platform at www.BoysTownStudios.com

Monarchy Distribution owner Mike Kulich, has announced plans this to create an “all male” porn studio that will donate 100% of profits to help Russian LGBT refugees seek asylum in the U.S. and Canada.

“Anyone will be able to write Boys Town Studios and tell their stories about how bigotry and homophobia (in Russia) has affected their lives, and we will step into help those victims as much as we can.” ” Kulich told XBiz yesterday. “While the advancements of gay rights in the U.S. have changed our society for the better, the setbacks abroad (particularly in Russia) made me see that this type of project was a necessity. I want to help the people suffering all over the world and living in persecuting countries using the best way I know how: making quality porn.”

“I have always created porn for profit.”  Kulich added. “This will be the first studio I launch that will give back to the LGBT community.”

Cyndi Lauper Continues To Sings Out For LGBT Causes

In some uplift your spirits and it’s good to think of helping others news, music icon Cyndi Lauper continues to be an outstanding advocate for LGBT causes. On December 8th, Lauper, along with other musical talents like Roberta Flack, Adam Lambert, and Sarah McLachlan will be performing for  Lauper & Friends: Home For the Holidays that will benefit True Colors Fund’s Forty to None Project. The performances will be to help homeless LGBT youth.

Lauper expressed her dismay about the staggering number of homeless youth that do not receive the right amount of care and she’s working to change that:

When I first learned that up to 40 percent of all homeless youth in this country identify as gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender I was shocked and saddened. For far too long homeless youth have not received the attention, resources and funding necessary to bring an end to this epidemic. My hope is that through this inspiring evening of music and comedy we can raise awareness and much needed funds to help these young people through our newly launched Forty to None Project.”

Other performers such as Rosie O’Donnell and Whoopi Goldberg and Bravo TV’s Andy Cohen will also be lending a helping hand to the cause. What an amazing advocate Lauper continues to be.

U.S. Office of Personnel Management Refuses To Remove Anti-Gay Hate Groups From Federal Charity Program

The U.S. Office of Personnel Management has declined a request to remove two extremist anti-gay hate groups the Family Research Council and the American Family Association from a federal employee charitable giving program known as the Combined Federal Campaign by senior federal employee Gary Cunningham and other federal employees.

The CFC bills itself on its website as the world’s largest charitable giving program. In 2010 federal workers donated more than $281.5 million to charitable organizations in the U.S. and abroad. In the 50 years since the CFC was created, federal employees have donated more than $7 billion to thousands of national and local charitable groups.

Cunningham, joined by several other federal workers, made the request for removing the Family Research Council and the American Family Association from the CFC on grounds that the organizations were listed as hate groups.

The OPM, which is headed by John Berry, an out gay man, responded by stating “The ideology of a charity is not considered. No federal tax dollars are provided to any charity through the CFC. Donors can select which CFC charities they wish to contribute to and exclude charities they do not want to support.”

OPM spokesperson Brittney Manchester added “OPM does not consider a charitable organization’s political activity or viewpoint when making eligibility determinations. Giving to charities through the CFC is a matter of personal choice for federal employees, who have the option to ensure that their contributions go only to the specific charities they designate.”

And even though Chad Griffin, president of the Human Rights Campaign, wrote in a commentary in the Washington Post on Tuesday that the designation of the Family Research Council as a hate group is justified. Griffin said FRC’s long history of “claiming the mantle of ‘deeply held religious beliefs’” to propagate “lies that denigrate an entire group of people” supports the designation as a hate group. A source familiar with HRC said HRC would not support expelling FRC and other groups from the CFC “because of the implications that it could have for pro-LGBT organizations in an unfriendly (GOP) administration.” (Because after all  a civil rights group and  hate groups have so much in common.)

Other anti-LGBT hate groups that receive donations through Combined Federal Campaign include Pat Robertson’s 700 Club; the Alliance Defense Fund; and Focus on the Family.

The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Gives 750 Million Dollars To The Global Fund to Fight AIDS

For those of you who think Bill Gates and Microsoft are evil.  Maybe they really aren’t that evil after all.

Via Press Release:

The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation today renewed its commitment to the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. Announced at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, the Gates Foundation is giving $750 million through a promissory note—a new and innovative funding mechanism. “These are tough economic times, but that is no excuse for cutting aid to the world’s poorest,” said Bill Gates, co-chair of the Gates Foundation. “The Global Fund is one of the most effective ways we invest our money every year.” Providing funding through a promissory note gives the Global Fund the flexibility and authority to distribute funds efficiently based on immediate needs, leading to greater impact. “By supporting the Global Fund, we can help to change the fortunes of the poorest countries in the world,” said Gates. “I can’t think of more important work.”

Up until now Bill Gates has donated over 29 BILLION DOLLARS to AIDS Education and Research
