Former Superman himself Brandon Routh is going to play another character from DC Comics mythology – The Atom as a main recurring guest star in the upcoming third season of The CW’s “Arrow”.
Routh will play Ray Palmer, a scientist, inventor and the new owner of Queen Consolidated. The deal spans fourteen episodes, with the character also serving as a love interest for fan favorite Felicity Smoak.
In the comics, Palmer becomes The Atom, a character that can shrink down to subatomic size. Whether the show will follow through with that we’ll have to wait and see. It’s likely though as the character matches a leaked casting description the other week of one of the new key characters.
Routh joins other announced newcomers this season including Karl Yune, Peter Stormare, Devon Aoki and returning champ John Barrowman (who held my hand once and I had the honor of grabbing his ass) who has been upped to a series regular.
Also rumors abound that Oded Fehr from the Resident Evil and Mummy franchise will apprear as Ra’s Al Ghul and Steven R. McQueen as Nightwing.
