Baylor University, a private Baptist school in Texas, who in the past has offered such unchristiancourses as Homosexuality As A Gateway Drug. Has now taken their anti-gay rhetoric one step further by changing the words “homosexual acts”to “deviant behavior” in its students conduct code.
The Student Senate passed the Sexual Misconduct Code Non-Discrimination Act, a proposal to reword Baylor’s Sexual Misconduct Code, in the Student Senate meeting Thursday. The act proposed to remove the phrase “homosexual acts” from the code and replace it with the phrase “non-marital consensual deviate sexual intercourse.” The most recent version of the Sexual Misconduct Code was established on Jan. 15, 2007. It reads, “In all disciplinary procedures, Baylor University will seek to be redemptive in the lives of the individuals involved and to witness to the high moral standards of the Christian faith. Baylor will be guided by the understanding that sexuality is a gift from the creator God and that the purposes of this gift include (1) the procreation of human life and (2) the uniting and strengthening of the marital bond in self-giving love. These purposed are to be achieved through heterosexual relationships within marriage. Missuses of God’s gift will be understood to include but not limit to, sexual abuse, sexual harassment, sexual assault, incest, adultery, fornication, and homosexual acts.”
“To witness to the high moral standards of the Christian faith.” Newsflash for Baylor: YOUR so-called “Christian faith” has no moral standards.
And by the way “Deviate” is a VERB;“deviant” is an ADJECTIVE you homophobic morons.
Among Baylor’s “noted” alumni are Rand Paul and Louie Gohmert. Is anyone surprised?
After the above ad image appeared on the Dr. Pepper’s Facebook page on Thursday which copies on the iconic evolution diagram “March of Progress,” Christian fundamentalist, and creationist are literally going apeshit over the image and are engaging in a flame war with the “Peppers” and calling for a boycott (ho-hum) of the popular soft drink. “I ain’t no freaking chimp.” one commenter posted. (REALLY?)
Although there’s been no “official” call for a boycott from any far right religious group as of yet. Start the countdown. It should be here by late Monday. (They are all busy packing up at the FRC’s Value Voters Summit.)
I personally don’t know why the creationist are so upset. It’s not like they actually drink Dr. Pepper. After all they drink Mr. Pibb, Mountain Dew, and Moonshine to wet their whistle.
Speeches woven with spiritual references, family values, small government, abortion, and traditional marriage was what was on the menu last night at the Iowa Faith and Freedom GOP Presidential Forum as over 1000 right wing “christian activist” gathered to listen to 6 of the 8 Republican presidential candidates vying for the hearts of “so called” social conservatives
Rick Perry took a shot at Herman Cain, in which Cain said that families should be able to abort a pregnancy in instances of incest and rape. “It is a liberal canard to say, ‘I am personally pro-life, but government should stay out of that decision,’ ” Perry said. “That is not pro-life. That is pro-having-your-cake-and-eating-it-too.” (What a douche)
Ron Paul went so far to say that he would see Roe v. Wade repealed and that he would remove the Federal Government from the equation entirely and would stand on “States rights” to make the decisions.
Paul stumped using Bible as his text (How cliche’). Saying that we must return to those basic principals and get the Federal Government and taxes out of people lives and to stop giving entitlements.
But it might have been better if Ron Paul actually read the Bible first because my bible doesn’t support multi-national capitalist companies. Rather it says greed is a sin (1 Corinthians 6:10). The Bible doesn’t even say we should oppose taxes. Christ told his followers to pay them (Mark 12:17).
Also the first church was pure Communism. In Acts 2:44-45 we read “All who believed were together and had all things in common; and they sold their possessions and goods and distributed them to all, as any had need.” Sounds a lot like Karl Marx’s famous statement about Communism when he wrote that it would take “from each according to his ability to each according to his need.”
