Former Made Men rapper and Love & Hip Hop star Raymond “Benzino” Scott took to Twitter to denounce anyone who flirts with him who doesn’t identify as a heterosexual woman telling gay men in not so many words to “step off.”
The former Love & Hip Hop star posted to Twitter:
“Attention to all in the LGBTQ, abcd!!!” Benzino began in the since-deleted series of tweets. “I respect y’all’s movement and your decision to be who you want to be BUT STOP THE WEIRD SHIT WITH THE COMMENTS AND FLIRTING. I’M NOT FUCKING FLATTERED BECAUSE I’M NOT GAY!! RESPECT THAT SHIT AS I RESPECT WHO YOU ARE!!”
After some pushback on Twitter Benzino doubled down:
“Fuck y’all mad at me for?? Cause I ain’t wit that shit?” he asked. “I know it ain’t all gays & not all gay men are disrespectful but it’s a lot who are, it’s been going on for awhile. I don’t wanna see that on my timeline. Just respect that. I’m straight, and idgaf about none y’all comments.”
This isn’t the first homophobic outburst Benzino has had.
In 2021 Benzino also blasted openly gay rapper Lil Nas X. The “Rock the Party” rapper took issue with Lil Nas kissing another man on stage at the televised BET Awards.
“I just feel like sometimes things can be forced, and they don’t have to be. I think Lil Nas X was trying to show he’s gay and gay’s here, but we already knew that. You don’t have to push the envelope so much. Gay people are here. The movement’s here,. I think the LGBT community – a lot of them are great people – but then you got some who just want to bully their lifestyle on people. I don’t think that’s fair. I think in this instance I’ve seen LGBT [people] speak and actually agree with what I’m saying.”
