DC Dyke March Bans Jewish and Israeli Symbols on Pride Flags

DC Dyke March Bans Jewish and Israeli Symbols on Pride Flags

Israeli symbols and Pride flags with the Star of David, will be banned at the Washington, D.C. Dyke March which is set to take place on Friday

DC Dyke March organizers say that while Jewish symbols would be allowed in general, rainbow flags with a Star of David appearing in the center are banned because they are “almost entirely reminiscent” of the Israeli flag.

“We are asking people to not bring nationalist symbols because violent nationalism does not fit with our vision of queer liberation,” they wrote. “And because we need the march to be a space that is as welcoming to Palestinian Dykes as it is to Jewish Dykes. The ‘Jewish Pride Flag’ seemed to only rise in popularity after the Chicago Dyke March — it was never a flag that we felt directly connected to, and it does not represent all Jewish Dykes,” they continued, referencing controversy that erupted in 2017 when the Chicago Dyke March ejected participants who carried such flags.

The event, which will take place in the capital after a 12-year hiatus, is not affiliated with the annual Pride Parade, as it rejects “the corporate sponsorship of Pride.”

In an interview with the Washington Post, one of the march’s organizers Laila Makled said the ban is intended to help create a welcoming space.

“All people should have a space to celebrate themselves, but I feel like at this moment in D.C. there is definitely a demand for a more inclusive way to display pride and protest,” she said.

The Anti-Defamation League criticized the ban, calling it “outrageous” and saying: “Banning the Star of David in their parade is anti-Semitic, plain and simple.

If this is what “QUEER”really is. Perhaps those out there that call themselves and identify as “queer” might want to think twice about that.

SCAM ALERT: Chicago Dyke March Shamelessly Crowdfunds for a “Self Care Retreat” After Barring Jewish Lesbians

After asking three women to leave who were carrying Jewish Pride flags last weekend during the Chicago Dyke March, organizers of the event have started a crowfunding campaign for a “self-care retreat.” They are trying to raise  $5,000 they say to go towards taking “a much needed retreat to rest, re-energize & be in a space of pure love” after “organizers and supporters, mostly queer and trans folks of color, have received countless threats of violence and aggression.”

The story goes that last week three participants in the march were forced to leave because they were carrying rainbow flags emblazoned with the Star of David, a symbol of Judaism. Organizers “were telling me to leave because my flag was a trigger to people that they found offensive,” Laurel Grauer told Windy City Times. “Prior to this [march] I had never been harassed or asked to leave and I had always carried the flag with me.”

According to the organizers, however, they issued a statement saying Grauer and other women bearing the flags were expelled not because of the flags, but because they were “expressing Zionist views that go directly against the march’s anti-racist core values.” Zionism involves the support of a Jewish state in Israel, but some, including the march organizers, believe the Israeli government is oppressive of the nation’s Palestinian residents. “The group in question was heard disrupting chants, replacing the word ‘Palestine’ with ‘everywhere,’ saying: ‘From everywhere to Mexico, border walls have got to go,'” the statement continued.

The ” threats|, the Collective claim have not documented or presented and were most likely backlash on social media.

Many are not happy that the CDM is raising funds for a vacation off the back of last weeks events.

As a Chicagoan it’s really painful, especially,” said Celia Sax, an organizer for Planned Parenthood as well as various Pride and Jewish events. “It’s demoralizing.” Sax feels said campaign puts salt in the wound. “It’s an additional layer of dehumanization,” she said.

Sax also was critical that the campaign funded a retreat rather than activism. “They could raise money for human rights, for reproductive rights, etc., but they are wasting it on self-care rather than any cause,” she said. “That is beyond awful.”

Activist Ilana Cohen also deemed the call for funds distasteful. “I can’t even fundraise $1,400 for surgery on my service dog’s eyes, and they want a retreat for being anti-Semitic,” Cohen said.

Radical Nation of Islam Leader Louis Farrakah: Obama Chose Gay People And Jews Over Black Americans

Nation of Islam Leader Louis Farrakah: Obama Chose Gay People And Jews Over Black Americans

Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan, Sr. (formerly known as Louis X) tore into President Barack Obama over the weekend, saying that the President has favored Israel and the gay community while sidelining Black Americans.

In his Sunday sermon. Farrakhan said the president’s legacy is not with the Affordable Care Act, but is instead “in the street with your suffering people.  Farrakhan went on to say Obama “didn’t earn” a legacy with the black community, even though “we put you there. You fought for the rights of gay people; you fought for the rights of this people and that people,” he said. “You fight for Israel. Your people are suffering and dying in the streets.”

The Muslim leader urged Obama to “come on back to the hood” after leaving the White House and become a community organizer once again.

Farrakhan has not supported President since 2014 when he called him the”first Jewish president”, due to Obama’s support for the 2011 military intervention in Libya, which Farrakhan strongly opposed due to his own support for Muammar Gaddafi

In recent years, the embrace of Dianetics under Farrakhan has drawn much criticism that the Nation of Islam is becoming too close to the Church of Scientology and the ideas of its founder L. Ron Hubbard, whom Farrakhan has said he respects. Farrakhan has praised Hubbard, saying he was “exceedingly valuable to every Caucasian person on this Earth”. Of followers of Scientology, he stated “You can still be a Christian; you just won’t be a devil Christian. You’ll still be a Jew, but you won’t be a satanic Jew!”

The Nation of Islam has repeatedly denied charges of both Antisemitism and homophobia.

Family Research Council Exec Vice President Jerry Boykin: ‘The Jews are the problem’

FRC

Executive vice president Lt. Gen. Jerry Boykin (retired), of the conservative Family Research Council, was caught on a “hot mic” on Thursday saying that “the Jews are the problem” to an Israeli reporter and pitching his theory about President Barack Obama using “subliminal messages” to signal support for al-Qaeda and the Muslim Brotherhood, in audio posted by the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) on Friday.

Boykin is heard arguing that, as a result of the “messages,” Al-Qaeda and the Brotherhood saw that “that they have a president that identifies with them, that has been supportive of them inside the United States and is unwilling to go against them.”

“If you understand anything about Islam, there are subliminal messages,” Boykin can be heard saying. “His message, really, I believe was, ‘I understand you, and I support you.’”

“Al Qaeda, the Muslim Brotherhood and everybody else” are taking advantage of this support and the “opportunity that they see that they have a president that identifies with them, that has been supportive of them inside the United States and is unwilling to go against them.”

Boykin could be heard recommending that the reporter contact FRC’s head of media relations, J.P. Duffy.

Boykin was then approached by someone about doing an interview with Henry Schwartz, a reporter for Israel National News, described as a “right-wing” publication.

“The Jews are the problem,” Boykin can be heard saying. “The Jews are the cause of all the problems in the world.” An unidentified person responds, “I know, I know, that’s why we’re trying to fix everything.”

Boykin’s remarks were captured after an online broadcast of a panel at the National Security Action Summit hosted by Brietbart News. The event is held as a counter to the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), and features speakers like Boykin who are even too crazy to be invited to speak at CPAC.

I wonder if Boykin and Tony Perkins shop for their white sheets together?
