GOP's First House Bill "The Old Glory Act" Bans Pride Flags

GOP’s First House Bill “The Old Glory Act” Bans Pride Flags

The “Old Glory Only Act,” sponsored by Rep. Jeff Duncan (R-S.C.) is one of the Republican majority’s first legislative priorities in the U.S. House of Representatives and would prohibit flags other than the American flag from being flown over U.S. diplomatic and consular posts. Meaning the rainbow PRIDE flag.

Republicans “claim” the Old Glory Only Act remedies the politicization of U.S. embassies during the Biden administration, which has allowed Pride and Black Lives Matter flags to be flown from U.S. embassies.

“Our beautiful flag, Old Glory, should be the only flag flying and representing our country over our diplomatic and consular posts worldwide,” Duncan said in a press release.  “It is important to ensure that Old Glory only is flown at American embassies to represent our ideals abroad.”

The GOP is responding to Obama administration when U.S. foreign officials allowed rainbow flags to fly over American embassies in Moscow, Belize, Israel, Jamaica, Macedonia and Iraqi Kurdistan, but if the Old Glory Act passes that won’t happen anymore. Furthermore the continues attacks of not only LGBT rights but LGBT Americans in general shows that anti-LGBT sentiment will be fueling the GOP’s 2024 elections campaign platform.

Woman Sprays Holy Water On Gay Couple to Stop The Spread of Immorality

A gay couple hugging in front of a church in Toluca, about 50 miles west of Mexico City M with what appeared to be “holy water” by a woman who accused them of spreading immorality to the country’s youth.

The incident which was caught on camera and shared by one of the men in a TikTok video that has since gone viral.

Leonardo Hernandez, who posted the video, can be heard telling the woman in Spanish, “It is bad to hate, lady.” While another bystander intervened to defend the couple, telling the woman, “They are not doing anything. They are just sitting here.”

The woman, who was not identified, put a bottle in her purse after spraying the couple and then called the authorities and took out her cellphone. She can be heard saying into the phone that the church is private property and that the couple is not welcome in the “lord’s house.” “They come from other depraved countries to teach immorality to the youth here.”

The police refused to intervene and informed the woman that she was guilty of discrimination before she walked away.

Same-sex marriage became legal in all of Mexico’s 32 states this past October. When the last state voted on legalization, the president of Mexico’s highest court, Arturo Zaldívar, welcomed the vote.

Over 100 Anti-LGBT Bills Introduced into State Legislatures So Far In 2023

Over 100 Anti-LGBT Bills Introduced into State Legislatures So Far In 2023

Over 100 bills targeting LGBT rights have been filed in 22 states for 2023 so far all in Republican controlled states.

Texas has taken the lead with 36 such bills, according to Equality Texas, Missouri is next with 26, then North Dakota with eight and Oklahoma with six.

A new slate of bills targeting drag performers has also emerged, likely in response to increasing protests in the past year against children attending drag brunches or Drag Story Hour, a national program started in 2015 in which drag performers read books to children at libraries, schools and bookstores

As right-wing politicians and media outlets have mainstreamed the use of increasingly inflammatory rhetoric against the LGBT+ community in the United States (New York Magazine, 8 April 2022Vox, 21 April 2022), anti-LGBT political violence has ramped up: with incidents of political violence targeting the LGBT+ community

New York Times Hires Anti-LGBT Columnist David French

New York Times Hires Anti-LGBT Columnist David French

The New York Times announced New it has brought on an anti-LGBTQ+ columnist, David French, Tuesday, calling him “an expert on the law, faith and politics.” despite the fact that French was once an attorney with the Alliance Defending Freedom anti-lgbt hate group.

Last year, French actually praised the Respect for Marriage Act, which wrote marriage equality into federal law while assuring that it won’t interfere with religious liberty. The act “doesn’t solve every issue in America’s culture war (much less every issue related to marriage), but it’s a bipartisan step in the right direction,” he wrote in The Atlantic. he also filed a friend-of-the-court brief in a case recently heard by the Supreme Court involving a web designer arguing that she has the right to refuse service to same-sex couples.

Remember this the next time the New York Times wants you to pay a subscription to get behind their paywall.

TWITTER and Elon Reinstates "Death to Gays" Pastor Greg Locke

TWITTER and Elon Reinstates “Death to Gays” Pastor Greg Locke

Just when you thought Elon Mush had opened the floodgates to every political MAGA ‘Lovin’ Trump Murican’ who Jack Dorsey and old Twitter had banned for breaking it’s TOS.. Now Elon has moved on to reinstating anti-LGBT extremists like “Death to Gays” Pastor Greg Locke.

In 2019, Locke helped lead and put on  Boston’s “Straight Pride Parade” which drew a small bunch of bigots— and far larger crowds of counter-protesters .

In 2020 Locke threatened a Dunkin’ Donuts employee for asking him to wear a mask in the store. Shortly afterwards it was reported that he had been cheating on his wife with the church secretary. He and his wife then divorced and he married his mistress.

Locke, a fake “Pastor” and longtime anti-LGBT extremist as recently as April 2022 that he had authorized the use of guns against members of the media who played “Democrat games” by trying to attend services.

Among Locke’s other greatest hits include: Sex Trafficking Tunnels Exist Under Capitol And WH, Biden, Oprah, Pope, Tom Hanks Are Pedophiles, and that Sleepy Joe,’ he’s a sex trafficking, demon-possessed mongrel.

And Elon let him back on and many that are worse.

TWITTER has become a toxic social media site that is now doing harm and every LGBT person, ally, Democrat, Progressive, and sane person should abandon the platform ASAP.

Back2Stonewall will be leaving TWITTER on Sunday December 12 ala Norma Desmond. Too bad Elon isn’t Joe Gillis.

Will you join me in deactivating your account on Sunday?

Virginia Restaurant Refuses To Serve "Christian" Hate Group

Virginia Restaurant Refuses To Serve “Christian” Hate Group

Via The Washington Post: A restaurant in Richmond last week canceled a reservation for a private event being held by a conservative Christian organization, citing the group’s opposition to same-sex marriage and abortion rights. “We have always refused service to anyone for making our staff uncomfortable or unsafe and this was the driving force behind our decision,” read an Instagram post from Metzger Bar and Butchery, a German-influenced restaurant in the Union Hill neighborhood whose kitchen is helmed by co-owner Brittanny Anderson, a veteran of TV cooking shows including “Top Chef” and “Chopped.”

The group in question the Family Foundation of Virginia Family describes itself as “socially conservative and Christian fundamentalist lobbying organization headquartered in the US city of Richmond, Virginia. It was focused originally on opposition to sex education. It has expanded to opposition to the Equal Rights Amendment, nondiscrimination policies, Family Foundation of Virginia is a Family Policy Council, meaning it is affiliated with Focus on the Family.

According to WRIC, Todd Gathje, Director of Government Relations for the Family Foundation had this to say — “We’ve had events at restaurants all over the city and never encountered a situation like this,” Gathje said. “It’s no secret that we are very much engaged in the public policy debate on a number of controversial issues. But we never expected that we would be denied service at a restaurant based on our religious values or political beliefs.” *snort*

Gathe and the Family Foundation have recently tried to revitalize a stalled effort in 2021 to remove an unenforceable provision of the Virginia Constitution — invalidated by the U.S. Supreme Court in 2015 — that defines marriage as between one man and one woman, saying that removing it would open the door to “polygamous, incestuous, kinship or even child marriages.”

OREGON: Armed Protestors Throw Rocks, Smoke Bombs at Drag Queen Story Hour

OREGON: Armed Protestors Throw Rocks, Smoke Bombs at Drag Queen Story Hour

Protests and fighting broke out in front of Old Nick’s Pub in Eugene on Sunday, with a crowd of people defending or attacking the pub for hosting a drag story time event with an 11-year-old performer.

Some 250 people lined the sidewalks next to the pub on Washington Street to support the pub and event. About 50 protesters were on the opposite sidewalk protesting it.

The event was packed where the 11-year-old drag performer Vanellope Macpherson Dupont was the show’s guest of honor instead of performing.

Via The Register Guard: The conflict began a week ago after online commenters and right-wing personalities caught wind of the drag show and accused the event of sexualizing children who perform in it. A protest was organized targeting the pub, and in response, community members planned a counterprotest titled “Eugene stands against hate.”

At one point, protestors threw rocks and smoke grenades at each other, and at least one person on both sides was hit in the face with pepper spray. there were no arrests.

The pub said Monday in a Facebook post that the event went on safely despite the protests, but the business expects to be “a target for violent extremists for a good while” and said it spent $2,000 on private security Sunday.

“We love you all so much, and we will not ever back down to hate,” the pub said in its Monday post. It added.

5 Tampa Bay Ray Players' REFUSE To Wear PRIDE Logo, Cite "Religious Beliefs"

5 Tampa Bay Ray Players’ REFUSE To Wear PRIDE Logo, Cite “Religious Beliefs”

5 Tampa Bay D’bags Rays players (all pitchers, no catchers.) refused to wear the Gay Pride logo on their uniforms this weekend — saying their religious beliefs wouldn’t allow it, but also saying they love and accept everyone.

Of course.

Via TMZ Sports:

Jason Adam, Jalen Beeks, Brooks Raley, Jeffrey Springs and Ryan Thompson. On Saturday, during the team’s Pride Night celebration, they reportedly ditched the custom jerseys/hats featuring rainbow-colored lettering and instead opted for standard unis. The reason … “faith-based” purposes. Adam explained … “So it’s a hard decision. Because ultimately we all said what we want is them to know that all are welcome and loved here. But when we put it on our bodies, I think a lot of guys decided that it’s just a lifestyle that maybe — not that they look down on anybody or think differently — it’s just that maybe we don’t want to encourage it if we believe in Jesus, who’s encouraged us to live a lifestyle that would abstain from that behavior, just like (Jesus) encourages me as a heterosexual male to abstain from sex outside of the confines of marriage. It’s no different.”

Unclear what fallout, if any, may come from this. It is Florida after all.

But as always we’ll keep you updated.

NYC’s Increasingly Problematic Mayor Appoints Anti-LGBT Politician to Top Position

Mayor-elect Eric Adams pledges to make NYC 'safer' and more 'business-friendly'

BitCoins, nepotism, telling NYC businesses to open all offices COVID be damned, harassment of the homeless these are just a FEW of New York City’s new Mayor Eric Adam most recent eyebrow raising antics. But now Adam’s has crossed the line by putting anti-LGBT far right wing DINO Rev. Erick Salgado.

In 2013 Salgado was endorsement from the antigay hate group National Organization for Marriage, a nonprofit formed for the sole purpose of opposing same-sex marriage.

During a candidate forum, Salgado criticized his opponents for marching in Pride parade, and sold himself as the “only one who did not march” and as “the only one who [is] willing to say in public that I only believe in traditional marriage.”

But of course it gets worse.

Salgado objected to the Parks Department erecting statues in the Sheepshead Bay Holocaust Memorial Park in honor of non-Jewish victims of the Nazis, including LGBTQ people, calling it “a betrayal of the community and even worse, disrespectful to the memory of those who perished in the Holocaust.”

Rumor has it that Adams is also considering appointing former New York City Councilman Fernando Cabrera to a “faith-based” position in the administration, after backing off a previous plan to appoint him as the city’s top mental health official after his anti-LGBTQ views came to light, including once expressing support for a Ugandan law that would have seen gay people executed.

Who voted for Adam’s exactly and why?

‘Don’t Say Gay’ Bill To Ban All LGBT Education Moves Forward in Florida

A Florida bill that would limit classroom discussions on sexual orientation and gender identity and encourage parents to sue schools or teachers that engage in these topics is speeding through the GOP controlled state House and Senate.

The aptly nicknamed “Don’t Say Gay” bill by LGBT fear that if this bill is signed into law, it could act as a complete ban on the lessons on LGBT oppression, history and discussions about LGBT identities.

The two bills in the state legislature, HB 1557 and SB 1834, state that a school district “may not encourage classroom discussion about sexual orientation or gender identity in primary grade levels or in a manner that is not age-appropriate or developmentally appropriate for students.” It also adds that parents who catch a violation of this rule can sue, seeking damages and reimbursement for attorney fees and court costs.

Florida GOP House Rep. Joe Harding, who is the sponsor of the legislation, hopes it will “reinforce the fundamental right of parents to make decisions regarding upbringing & control of their children,” according to the bill’s text.

The bill is particularly troubling in a state where there have been tragic hate crimes committed against those in the LGBT community, including the 2016 mass shooting at Pulse, a gay nightclub in Orlando  in which 49 people were killed and another 53 wounded.

2021 was a record-breaking year for anti-LGBTQ legislation. More than 250 of these bills were introduced and at least 17 were enacted into law. All of which introduced into GOP controlled states.
