Good Morning Britain host Susanna Reid asked Downton Abbey actor Dan Stevens in a recent interveiw if he had to “beat off a lot of American men” to get role as an American soilder in his upcoming movie thriller “The Guest”

What is the Robin Hood Tax?
Simply put, the big idea behind the Robin Hood Tax is to generate hundreds of billions of dollars. That money could provide funding for jobs to kickstart the economy and get America back on its feet. It could help save the social safety net here and around the world. And it will come from fairer taxation of the financial sector with banks, hedge funds and the rest of the financial sector should paying their fair share to clear up the mess they helped create.
This small tax of less than ½ of 1% on Wall Street transactions can generate hundreds of billions of dollars each year in the US alone.
Enough to protect American schools, housing, local governments and hospitals. Enough to pay for lifesaving AIDS medicines. Enough to support people and communities around the world – and deal with the climate challenges we’re facing.

In the UK and throughout the world, being ginger and male comes with many stigmas attached. Many are bullied at school and for some, even later in life.
As far as I can see, no one has focused (or noticed) the huge, polarized gap between the way our society perceives red headed women (often the ultimate woman – think Jessica Rabbit) and red headed males (often emasculated and de-sexualized in film and TV – no Hollywood heroes – no leading men).
No other hair color has this level of gender inequality in any society, and RED HOT holds a mirror up to the pre-conceived limitations we put on the red headed males.
“Guys with red hair don’t have the positive role models that girls do in our culture. A male with red hair is not seen as aspirational, culturally speaking, with very few leading men, heroes, action stars or heartthrobs played by men with red hair in Hollywood or on our TV screens. Also the more laddish culture of banter – that maybe is not so prevalent in female friendship circles – creates a fear of speaking out based on the concept of ‘it was just a joke’. While many people may argue calling someone a ‘ginga’ or any other ‘fun’ words for people with red hair is just witty banter, for some of those on the receiving end, the impact to their self esteem is felt much more deeply and can have lasting, detrimental effects at school and way into their adult life. I’ve never understood why there is appearance- based discrimination laws protecting other minority groups in the UK, but not for this, now a widely acceptable form of unclassified racism.”
