After fighting a valiant fight, but losing to Amendment One, which imposed a constitutional ban against gays and lesbians and their freedom to marry in North Carolina.
Equality North Carolina is now going on the offensive. Gone are the insipid and uninspiring “hearts and minds” strategy type commercials that have dragged this battle out for so long and in its stead North Carolina gays and lesbians are fighting back.
They’re mad as hell and aren’t going to take it anymore.
Bravo to Equality North Carolina for standing up and fighting back.
(And to the national organization “Freedom to Marry” (ONLY in the states they deem fit) we have not forgotten that you turned your back on North Carolina when they needed you most.
God love you Freedom to Marry but just what the hell were you thinking today?
First to debate Brian Brown on Fox where a “fair and balanced” debate begins and ends with Brian Brown. But to have Marc Solomon, who I am sure is a nice guy and does great work for the organization but is as milquetoast, monotone and invisible as they come and shows absolutely no passion at all on the subject.
Whoever at Freedom to Marry put Solomon in the position to do the debate with Brown was either drunk, stupid or a Fox News operative.
NEVER put him on television again. You and Gay Inc (HRC, GLAAD, ect.) do more harm than good not using a strong speakers who will push back. Stop with the professional “boardroom gays” already.
Prous North Carolinian, philanthropist and straight ally Todd Stiefel has pledged to match every dollar up to $100,000 that will be donated to Protect All NC Families’ campaign to defeat Amendment One, which would constitutionally ban same-sex marriage, civil unions, and domestic partnerships.
My name is Todd Stiefel. My wife, Diana, and I have a passionate belief that our country would be better off if we put people above politics. Families in North Carolina matter far more than a divisive constitutional amendment such as Amendment One, and that is why we are now offering a $1 for $1 match up to $100,000 to the campaign.
The campaign to defeat the amendment only has three more weeks to get out the word about the harms that North Carolina would face if Amendment One passes on May 8. That is why we are stepping up now to give to the campaign. We hope that you can join us.
The momentum against Amendment One has grown substantially in recent weeks. Former GOP Gubernatorial nominee Richard Vinroot, Justice Bob Orr, John Hood and other conservatives have advocated against it in recent weeks. Governor Bev Perdue came out passionately against it last week in a powerful video, and the next morning Duke Energy CEO Jim Rogers condemned the amendment as well.
A great man to speak up, stand up and give to help protect the rights of others.
We need more straight allies like this. (That’s a hint Obama)
