Raquel Welch Passes Away at 82 – WATCH: Welch Discusses Myra Breckinridge with Dick Cavett and Janis Joplin

Actress and international sex symbol Raquel Welch has died after a brief illness according to her manager.

Welch a two-time Golden Globe nominee, winning the musical/comedy motion picture award in 1975 for her performance in “The Three Musketeers,” which starred Faye Dunaway and Charlton Heston.

Welch rose to fame in the 1966 sci-fi movie “Fantastic Voyage” where she portrayed a medical team member that worked to save an injured diplomat’s life and was named one of the “100 Sexiest Stars in Film History” by Empire magazine in 1995. Despite her sex symbol status, she viewed herself differently and was not afraid to take chances and was an ally of the gay community.

In 1970 Welch starred in Myra Breckinridge based on Gore Vidal‘s 1968 novel of the same name. The movie  the follows the exploits of Myra Breckinridge (née Myron), a transgender woman who has undergone a sex change operation. Claiming to be her own widow, she manipulates her uncle into giving her a position at his acting school, where she attempts to usurp Hollywood’s social order by introducing femdom into the curriculum.

The picture was controversial for its sexual explicitness, unlike the novel, received little to no critical praise and has been cited as one of the worst films ever made

Watch below as Raquel talks with Dick Cavett and Janis Joplin about Myra Breckinridge.

Former NBA Star Charles Barkley: “If you’re gay or transgender, I love you”

A video, originally posted to TikTok by user I. banana, taken earlier this month at Harvey’s Lake Tahoe, a casino located in Stateline, Nevada shows NBA legend Charles Barkley pledging his support for the LGBT community

The clip shows the 11-time NBA All Star onstage telling a crowd that, “If you’re gay or transgender, I love you. And if anyone gives you any shit, tell ’em Charles says f**k you!”

This is not the first time that Barley has stood up for the gay community.

In a 2013 interview on The Dan Patrick Show, he expressed support for out NBA player Jason Collins. “Everybody’s played with a gay teammate,” he said at the time. “As a Black man, I’m always inclusive.”

In 2016, Barkley also spoke out strongly against North Carolina’s infamous bathroom bill, which would have barred transgender people from using public restrooms that corresponded with their gender identity. He even went so far as to call for the NBA’s 2017 All-Star Game to be relocated from Charlotte, North Carolina.

“I think anytime you’re Black, you got to stand up for other people because you – Black people know what discrimination is like. And if you’re in a position of power, you got to always stand up against discrimination. And I’m blessed man, and… I’m never gonna sit back and let discrimination happen on my watch.” – Charles Barkley

Disney Exec Responsible For "Don't Say Gay" Original Response Quits After 3 Months

Disney Gave Florida GOP Over $190K Ahead Of “Don’t Say Gay” Law

Remember: Disney IS NOT innocent. For such a staunch LGBT “ally” they had no problem throwing us under the bus when they felt it would be to their benefit.

Via Politico:

“Weeks before The Walt Disney Co. took a stand against Florida’s contentious “Parental Rights in Education” law — which has been called the “Don’t Say Gay” bill by its critics — the theme park operator and entertainment conglomerate donated $190,000 to support Florida Republicans. The company gave $125,000 to the Republican Party of Florida and $65,000 to a committee that helps elect GOP state senators, led by incoming state Senate President Kathleen Passidomo. All the donations, which were disclosed in new campaign filings Monday, arrived as the state legislative session was getting underway in January.

Trust no one. Not even a mouse.

Or in this case a RAT.

CHER Says NYET To Performing at the 2014 Sochi Olympics In Russia

In an interview with Macleans, Cher lets it be known that she got an invitation to perform in Russia at the Sochi Games and turned it down FLAT:

I can’t name names but my friend called who is a big oligarch over there, and asked me if I’d like to be an ambassador for the Olympics and open the show. I immediately said no. I want to know why all of this gay hate just exploded over there. He said the Russian people don’t feel the way the government does.

YOU GO GURL!

Football Legend Joe Namath To Homophobic Bigots: ‘Get Over It’ – Video

Appearing on HuffPost Live Superbowl Champion and football legend Broadway Joe Namath told the interviewer that while he says he  doesn’t know which of his former teammates were gay, he did have a message for those who might be anti-gay:

“I have friends that are gay. I’ve worked in theater, I’ve been in art, you  know, for some time. We work shoulder to shoulder. There’s a lot of love from me  to them, too. That’s life, you know. And if you’ve got a hangup about it, I hope  you can get over it because it’s real.”

Well said Joe. Well said.

MN Viking’s Straight LGBT Ally Chris Kluwe On Gay Haters: “I say fuck those people!”

Chris Kluwe OMGFamily Equality Council’s awards honoree Chris Kluwe  of the NFL’s Minnesota Viking  has become one of the LGBT Communities strongest and most outspoken straight allies thanks to his masterful use of language,  well-reasoned sentimentally and passion for equal rights,.

Chris gave a heartfelt and rousing speech at the award event that not only brought the house down but laid his concern and passion for others all out on the table.

“‘The fight for gay rights is about the children, it’s about having access to the same laws, the same benefits, the same protections so these children can have every advantage and a chance to succeed at life.  It’s about not having to worry about being bullied on your way to school or while you’re walking down the street. It’s about living in a stable home with parents who love each other and who just so happen to be the same sex.’

That’s why I wrote my letter, that’s why I spoke out, that’s why I’ll continue speaking out against every single hypocritical jackass’ because ‘those people aren’t thinking about the children at all, they’re thinking about themselves.’

So I say fuck those people! … I say live your own life however you want to live it, I say love who you want – it’s nobody’s business but your own. I say treat others the way you like being treated with compassion, dignity and respect – the way human beings are supposed to act”

Now THIS is what you call a LGBT equality advocate.

Kudos to Chris Kluwe and on behalf of the LGBT Community I would like to say  THANK YOU so very much for your great and powerful words and your selfless work on our behalf.

YOU ROCK!

Amazing Straight GLBT Ally John Fugelsang: “Stop Calling It Bullying!” – Video

It always amazes me that are straight LGBT allies deliver such strong and powerful messages for us.  Much more powerful than our own organizations which actually says a helluva lot.

As much as I like to “hit on” John Fugelsang, Ben Cohen and Chris Kluwe I am so appreciative that they stand up fo us and speak their mind and admire them and thank them for it.

Rock Stud Henry Rollins SLAMS The Catholic Church Over Gay Adoption And Hypocrisy in Vanity Fair

“Let the record speak for itself. The Catholic Church does not approve of homosexuality; their position on pedophilia, however, is not as clear. I am sure most Catholics do not approve of pedophilia, but the executive branch of Catholicism seems to have difficulty convincing some of us that they are willing to do what is necessary to make sure that the members of their staff who are active sexual predators are brought to justice.
“I can’t see any sane person not wanting someone who harms innocent children taken out of circulation as soon as possible. Relocating them is tantamount to enabling them further. Maybe there should be a television show called To Catch A Priest. I’ll watch. I think the expulsion of this child from the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic School is the best break the parents could have hoped for. Children should be raised in an environment of kindness and encouragement, not discrimination and ignorance.” – Henry Rollins, in a Vanity Fair essay saying that those protesting the explusion of the children of gay parents from Catholic schools are “wasting their time” and that the kids shouldn’t be there in the first place.

.Henry is a ROCK GOD!
