Premiering on this day on ABC in 1981, Dynasty features a (sort of) gay character Steven Carrington, cat fights, and more shoulder pads than were in Joan Crawfords closet.
Through it’s run on television gay bars around the coutry showed it LIVE and gay men flocked to them to watch it as a tribe and cheer on Krystal or Alexis as a tribe.
Posted below: EPISODE 1 – SEASON 1 – This is the ending scene to the very first episode, Oil A small family dinner, Fallon is glad Krystle is gone while Steven is worried his sexuality is out in the open.
In an interview with Good Morning America‘s Robin Roberts on Wednesday, former football start Colton Underwood — who headlined Season 23 of the ABC “reality” show The Bachelor— confirmed the longstanding rumor.
He is gay.
Underwood’s being a virgin was a plot point The Bachelor seized on. It also fueled rumors that he was gay — which he had previously denied.
Titled “Colton Underwood: In His Own Words,” the former “Bachelor” star opens up to Roberts:
“There is something that you want people to know, so can you tell us what is on your heart that you want to share?” Roberts asks Underwood in the clip.
“Yeah,” he responds as he takes a deep breath. “It’s been a journey, for sure.”
This year’s been a lot for a lot of people and it’s probably made a lot of people look at themselves in the year and figure out who they are,” he shared. “I’ve ran from myself for a long time, I’ve hated myself for a long time. I’m gay. I came to terms with that earlier this year, and the next step in all of this was sort of letting people know. … I’m the happiest and healthiest I’ve ever been in my life. That means the world to me.” – Colton Underwood
NYC Pride announced that WABC-TV will be its official television partner and broadcast the 48th NYC LGBT Pride March on Sunday, June 25, 2017. The NYC Pride March started in 1970 as a civil rights demonstration on the 1-year anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising. Today, it is one of the world’s best known LGBT events, with 350 marching contingents and more than 2 million spectators in 2016.
WABC-TV will broadcast the annual trek down Fifth Avenue from Noon – 3 p.m. on Channel 7 and also stream the event on its website, abc7ny.com. This important new partnership comes at a time of political and social turmoil in many communities. “We’re excited to have Tri-state viewers welcome us into their homes for what will be an unprecedented opportunity for the LGBT community’s collective voices to be heard,” said Chris Frederick, NYC Pride Managing Director.
WABC-TV joins a vast array of nonprofits, community organizations, corporate partners, small businesses, political candidates and activists who participate each year. “Channel 7 prides itself on being able to bring important, local celebrations of community spirit to as many people as possible,” said Dave Davis, President and General Manager of WABC-TV. “We look forward to making this year’s March the best ever.”
In addition to the live broadcast, the station will also provide coverage of other essential NYC Pride events: PrideFest – the annual LGBT street festival, Pride Luminaries Brunch, the Rally, and Pride Island – a new three-day LGBT cultural experience.
This year’s theme, “We Are Proud,” speaks to the LGBT community’s unwavering ability to rise and be proud, even in the face of the existing political environment. The American Civil Liberties Union, Brooke Guinan (trans woman, FDNY firefighter), Krishna Stone (Director of Community Relations, GMHC), and Geng Le (Founder, Blued) will helm 2017’s iconic March. – Via Press Release
ABC has cast three more stars for its upcoming mini-series When We Rise which chronicles the LGBT rights movement in San Francisco. Mary-Louise Parker (Longtime Companion, Weeds, Angels in America), Guy Pearce (Priscilla Queen of the Desert, Memento, L.A. Confidential), and Rachel Griffiths (Muriel’s Wedding, Brothers and Sisters, Six Feet Under)
Pearce will helm the cast as the LGBT activist Cleve Jones, while Parker “is set as women’s rights leader Roma Guy.” Griffiths will depict Guy’s wife Diane, also a social justice activist. Still to be cast are the roles of Ken Jones, the African American Ken Jones, a longtime gay city resident who was the first African-American chair of what was then known as the San Francisco Gay Freedom Day Parade and Celebration Committee and Cecilia Chung, a transgender activist.
Chung founded the San Francisco Transgender Advocacy and Mentorship (SF TEAM) to provide events for the transgender community through the San Francisco LGBT Community Center. She was also one of the founders of the annual Trans March. She is also the first transgender woman and first Asian to be elected to lead the Board of Directors of the San Francisco Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender Pride Celebration and the first transgender woman and first person living openly with HIV to Chair the San Francisco Human Rights Commission
Currently, Chung serves on the Presidential Advisory Council on HIV/AIDS, the current chair of US PLHIV Caucus and is also the Senior Strategist at the Transgender Law Center.
Dustin Lance Black has been adapting longtime gay activist’s Cleves Jones upcoming book of the same title as the source material for the mini-series.
He believes the television series will avoid the controversy that engulfed the widely panned Stonewall movie this fall. It was harshly criticized for downplaying the role of people of color and transgender individuals at the 1968 riots tied to a police raid of a New York City gay bar.
“We are not fucking up on the diversity issue,” said Jones.
The miniseries will be divided into six episodes, with the first and final both two hours long. Gus Van Sant, who directed Milk , which was nominated for a best picture Oscar, is directing the pilot episode.
“It is kind of a huge deal,” said Jones about the project. “It basically follows a few people, all of whom decided to come to San Francisco.”
You can pre-order, When We Rise: Coming of Age in San Francisco, AIDS, and My Life in the Movement by Cleve jones through Amazon.com by clicking the book image below.
Deadlinereports that ABC has greenlit an upcoming miniseries about the history of the gay rights movement from its “turbulent infancy” to the present.
ABC is reassembling the team of the 2008 movie Milk for another project about the gay rights movement, eight-hour miniseries When We Rise. Milk director Gus Van Sant has joined the mini, written/executive produced by Milk writer Dustin Lance Black and executive produced by the film’s producer Bruce Cohen. The project, which had been in development at ABC for more than two years, has now been officially greenlighted for production with Van Sant directing the first two-hour episode. He will executive produce the mini alongside Black, Cohen and Laurence Mark.
So 46 years covered in 8 hours. Good luck.
Lets hope that Dustin Lance Black actually does some research unlike that of Roland Emmerich. After all Black won’t have “The Life and Times of Harvey Milk” to adapt this time. And as we know from Emmerich’s “Stonewall” and the flap surrounding it that the events of that night have not been well documented and have been re-written many times.
Dan Savage’s sitcom The Real O’Neals is a go for ABC this fall. The story centers around a good Catholic boy who tries to skirt around the issue of being gay before finally coming out to his extremely dysfunctional family.
Meanwhile in Christo-fascist land Tony Per-KKK-ins is incensed. INCENSED I tells you! That ABC would allow an “x-rated gay sex columnist” who has a “legacy of bioterrorism and death threats” to have a sitcom on the Disney owned channel Tand is promoting a petition for ABC to cancel the show.
“What does an X-rated gay sex columnist have in common with Walt Disney? Nothing. And that’s exactly the problem. Most Americans have probably never heard of Dan Savage, but unfortunately, that’s all about to change this fall. Despite massive outcry — thousands of phone calls, emails, and petition signers — Disney’s ABC is taking its LGBT activism to new lows with plans to bring the controversial Christian-basher to life in a sitcom called The Real O’Neals. The trailer is already worse than anyone could imagine. When the show isn’t mocking Christians, it’s celebrating homosexuality. It’s a savage, if you will, caricature of a Catholic family and the Faith, where the parents are divorcing, one son has anorexia, the daughter runs a fake charity, and the son pictured in the middle is gay. Oh, and there’s a Virgin Mary statue over the toilet. While the Left is counting the days until the comedy airs, Savage’s real-life legacy of bioterrorism and death threats is no joking matter.”
Hey Tony! I’m pretty sure more people know who Dan Savage is then who know who Tony Perkins is.
On the comedy side, the untitled Savage comedy is a single-camera semi-autobiographical entry based on the LGBT activist/boundary-pushing columnist’s life. It centers on a picture-perfect family that is turned upside down when the youngest son comes out of the closet. What seems like the end of their idyllic life turns out to be the beginning of a bright new chapter when everyone stops pretending to be perfect and actually starts being real. Savage is responsible for organizing the It Gets Better photo campaign following the passage of Prop. 8 and numerous other anti-gay legislation.
Well the Family Research Council’s Grand Dragon, I mean “President” Tony Per-KKK-ins is SHOCKED at the fact that a “vulgar” and “athiest homosexual” like our Danny boy will be allowed on television to push the dreaded “homosexual agenda.
“Dan Savage says ‘it gets better,’ but don’t be surprised if viewers get bitterafter ABC’s newest program. The Disney-owned network, for years a shill for the LGBT agenda, is taking their activism to amazing lows with its plans to bring the controversial ‘sex therapist’ to life in a regular feature. His dark and vile attacks on Christians have been well chronicled by Savage himself (so vulgar most are unprintable). Lately, though, the open atheist homosexual has taken a break from harassing high schoolers and Republicans to focus on this new fall sitcom, which, producers say, ‘will follow the younger years of Savage’s life and the experiences of his family following his decision to come out of the closet.’ As desperate as the networks are to out-shock the competition, does ABC really want a pilot show based on an anti-Christian bully like Dan Savage?” – Hate group leader Tony Perkins, via email
Perhaps Tony is a bit jealous. But I hear American Horror Story is looking into adding plotline on his life in Season 5.
As the 2014 Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) kicks off just outside of Washington DC, and all the news networks scramble to cover it, not one is reporting about the fact that ProEnglish, the white nationalist led English-only outfit that created serious headaches for the conference back in 2012, has quietly been allowed to again be an official exhibitor at CPAC 2014.
According to the CPAC 2014 event site, the ProEnglish booth is number 538, sandwiched between the booth for a movie about the IRS “scandal” and the booth for the group, Tradition, Family, Property. The site lists the ProEnglish contact for CPAC as Robert Vandervoort who was the organizer of the white supremacist group, Chicagoland Friends of American Renaissance, while he lived in Illinois. During that period Vandervoort was at the center of much of the white supremacist activity in the region. While he was in charge, Chicagoland Friends of American Renaissance often held joint meetings with the local chapter of the Council of Conservative Citizens. He also made appearances at white supremacist events outside Illinois, for instance participating in the 2009 Preserving Western Civilization Conference.
ProEnglish, was founded by white nationalist John Tanton who also created a network of organizations – the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR), the Center for Immigration Studies (CIS) and NumbersUSA – that have profoundly shaped the immigration debate in the United States. A retired Michigan ophthalmologist, Tanton has white nationalist beliefs and has written that to maintain American culture, “a European-American majority” is required.
In His Own Words
“I’ve come to the point of view that for European-American society and culture to persist requires a European-American majority, and a clear one at that.”
– Dec. 10, 1993, letter to the late Garrett Hardin, a controversial ecology professor.
And there the group sits at CPAC14 while not one major television or print news network has the journalistic integrity or balls to report that they are there.
During a rather soft interview with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Sunday’s This Week, ABC News host George Stephanopoulos asked Putin about the country’s anti-gay laws. Not about the countless arrests and hassasment that has happned in Russia. Stephanopoulos asked Putin whether gay people will be prosecuted under the propaganda law if they wear a rainbow pin at Sochi.
Acts of protest and acts of propaganda are somewhat different things. They are close, but if we were to look at them from the legal perspective, then protesting a law does not amount to propaganda of sexuality or sexual abuse of children. That’s one. Two is that I’d like to ask our colleagues, my colleagues and friends, that as they try to criticize us, they would do well to set their own house in order first. I did say, after all, and this is public knowledge, that in some of the states in the U.S., homosexuality remains a felony.
Stephanopolous replied that “the Supreme Court has struck those laws down.”
How are they in a position to criticize us for what is a much softer, liberal approach to these issues than in their own country? I know that this isn’t something that can be easily done. This is so because there are a lot of folks in the U.S. who share the view that the legislation in their state or in their nation is appropriate, well grounded, and is in sync with the sentiment of the vast majority of the population…The Russian people have their own cultural code, their own traditions. We don’t interfere. Don’t stick our noses in their life. And we ask that our traditions and culture are treated with the same respect. Russia does not criminally prosecute people for being gay, unlike in over one-third of the world’s nations. Seventy of the world’s nations consider homosexual behavior a crime. Seven out of the 70 use capital punishment for homosexuality. What does it mean? Does it mean we need to cancel any major international sports events in those countries? Probably not.
But according to a source to Back2Stonewall.com from a source that has read the Russian transcripts from this press conference there’s a lot more propaganda from Putin than ABC was willing to talk about including the fact that even after being corrected about about homosexuality being criminalized in “several US states — Texas, for example,” Putin kept repeating this over and over.
Putin also doesn’t recognize the usual designation of the law as “Mizulina’s law” and claims that it’s a law “against propaganda of pedophilia and homosexualism.”Pedophilia is NOT MENTIONED in the law. And “homosexualism” was only deleted in order to make out that the law is not anti-gay. Instead it’s against “propaganda of non-traditional sexual relations.”
Another outrageous claim from Putin in the Russian transcripts is that he claims that in several countries in Europe there is a valid movement WITHIN THE GOVERNMENTS to legalize pedophilia. He repeats this again and again too, and it’s a major feature of Russian anti-European propaganda adding that also in Germany 38,000 children were taken away from straight parents and given to gay couples.
This is only the tip of Putin’s propaganda iceberg.
