California Sen. Barbara Boxer Files Bill To Abolish The Electoral College

The LA Times reports:

Retiring Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.) filed legislation Tuesday to abolish the Electoral College in light of Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton winning the popular vote but still losing the election. Such legislation makes a statement after an election that shocked Democrats, but is unlikely to gain traction with Republicans holding control of both chambers of Congress in a lame duck session.

Her bill calls for an amendment to the Constitution that would end the Electoral College system. Should such a thing pass, the amendment would only take effect if ratified by three-fourths of the states within seven years after its passage in the U.S. Congress.

Clinton leads President-elect Donald Trump by nearly 800,000 votes nationally with a final count still pending, but Trump won the most electors in the electoral college system that is how the country actually picks it’s president.

Boxer was a vocal advocate for Clinton throughout the campaign and had said that electing the first female president was on her to-do list before leaving the Senate in January. This is just the fourth time in U.S. history that a nominee has won the popular vote but lost the Electoral College and thus the presidency. The most recent was Al Gore’s Electoral College loss to George W. Bush in 2000.

Nice sentiment but lets face it. The last thing in the universe any Republican will vote for today is a proposal to eliminate the Electoral College.

The Electoral College just resulted in the Republican incarnation of Juan Peron being elected President of the United States.

Trump Pulls Out Rainbow Flag At Rally In Colorado

Yesterday at his rally in Greeley, CO despite the fact that has vowed to enable the overturn of same-sex marriage and has promised to support the legalization of anti-LGBT discrimination by businesses Donald Trump had the nerve to pull out a rainbow flag and hold it in front of him. Upside down and messy. Which pretty much sums up both Trump’s support for LGBT people and LGBT peoples’ support for Trump.

For the second day in a row, Donald Trump rallied Colorado voters just nine days before the November General Election on Nov. 8. The republican nominee spent Saturday in battleground Jefferson County and held another rally on the UNC campus in Greeley on Sunday.

Greeley, which is located in Weld County, is a traditionally Republican county. Trump took the stage in Greeley holding a rainbow LGBTQ flag from one his supporters. He then hinted at possible voter fraud in Colorado. “Do you think those ballots are properly counted?” Trump asked the crowd who yelled back, “No!”

WTF? - NBC News Poll States 20% Of LGBT Voters Support Donald Trump

NBC News reports:

A large majority of registered LGBT voters support Hillary Clinton over Donald Trump, according to results of two weeks of the NBC News|SurveyMonkey Weekly Election Tracking Poll. Seventy-two percent of registered LGBT voters support Clinton, compared to 20 percent who support Trump.

On the campaign trail, Trump has touted himself as the better candidate to fight for LGBT rights, but his decision to pick Indiana Gov. Mike Pence as his running-mate was seen by some as contradictory to his LGBT-friendly claims.

When Libertarian Gary Johnson and Green Party candidate Jill Stein are added to the match-up question, Clinton still maintained the lead among registered LGBT voters with 63 percent support. Trump, on the other hand, had 15 percent support. Johnson was not far behind with 13 percent, followed by 8 percent support for Stein.

In past elections, LGBT voters have played an important role. According to results from the 2012 NBC News Exit Polls, 5 percent of voters identified as gay, lesbian or bisexual** and 76 percent voted for Barack Obama. Voters who did not identify as gay, lesbian or bisexual were split—49 percent voted for Obama and 49 percent voted for Romney.

It just goes to prove that stupidity and greed knows no sexual orientation or gender.

Scrambling among Indiana politicians has reached the point where Republican Party insiders are convinced that presumptive presidential nominee Donald Trump will pick Indiana Gov. Mike Pence as his running mate.

Constitutional lawyer James Bopp, an Indiana delegate to the Republican National Convention who is close the governor, told The Washington Times that Indiana House Speaker Brian C. Bosma, 58, a conservative Republican, had sought advice from him on running for governor.

“He wanted my counsel on what he needed to do to set himself up to run for governor, because he expects Pence to step down as governor in order to be Trump’s running mate,” Mr. Bopp said in an interview.

The Trump election team boosted the Pence speculation Sunday by suddenly adding a campaign rally in Indianapolis to a fundraiser planned for Tuesday featuring Mr. Trump and Mr. Pence.

Several Republicans close to the campaign and to the governor have told The Times over the last 24 hours that they are now convinced it’ll be Mr. Pence.

For those of you who don’t remember in 2015 Pence signed a measure into law in Indiana that allowed businesses to turn away gay and lesbian customers in the name of “religious freedom.” stating:

“Today I signed the Religious Freedom Restoration Act, because I support the freedom of religion for every Hoosier of every faith. The Constitution of the United States and the Indiana Constitution both provide strong recognition of the freedom of religion but today, many people of faith feel their religious liberty is under attack by government action.”

Donald Trump’s presidential campaign gave press credentials to the white nationalist radio program The Political Cesspool, which says it will soon air an interview with Donald Trump Jr. National civil rights groups have criticized the program for supporting anti-Semites, Holocaust deniers, and white supremacists like David Duke. The show openly states on its website that it’s a “pro-White” program that wishes “to revive the White birthrate above replacement level fertility.” It is hosted by white nationalist James Edwards, who has claimed that Martin Luther King Jr.’s “dream is our nightmare,” “interracial sex is white genocide,” and “slavery is the greatest thing that ever happened to” African-Americans.

Edwards who is based just outside Memphis, Tenn.  has featured a wide roster of white supremacists, anti-Semites and other extremists, including David Duke and his KKK affiliated group Stormfront and Holocaust denier Willis Carto.

The Political Cesspool‘s mission statement says it “stands for the Dispossessed Majority” and is “pro-white.  The show rejects “homosexuality, vulgarity, loveless sex, and masochism” and believes “secession is a right of all people and individuals.” It add: ‘We wish to revive the White birthrate above replacement level fertility and beyond to grow the percentage of Whites in the world relative to other races.”

In James Edwards own words:

“A lot of their motivation is that they hate Christianity. They hate what we call the WASP establishment … and they’re using pornography as a subversive tool against us. Jews are by and large dominant in the porn industry. … You know, connect the dots and look at the names of people controlling our media, and you find out what the common denominator is. … These Zionist Jews are more interested in subverting the dominant culture, which would be the European culture here in America, than they are in helping us and assimilating into our culture.”
