Wall Street Journal Editor Paul Gigot Dismisses Mitt Romney’s Anti-Gay Bullying With A “So What?”

Wall Street Journal editorial page editor Paul Gigot appeared on FOX News Sunday where he totally dismissed the upsetting story of Mitt Romney’s past as a bully and the episode where Mitt forcibly held down a fellow student in high school and chopped off his hair with sissors because he “looked too gay” according to statemesnts from others who were involved in the incident.

Said Gigot:

“He was a leader of the prankster group. So what? And this is the only anecdote I think they found that was kind of edgy. [...] I think in terms of politics, if this is the worst thing that the American people find out about Mitt Romney in the next five months, he is going to be a very happy man.”

Edgy? It was an physical homophobic assault.  What if students at a school in the Northeast tackled a Christian student to the ground, yanked off the cross that he was wearing, took out some scissors and gave him a crew cut? Or did the same to Mormon child because of his faith and sheared.  Would that be edgy too?

Whats worse is that today SEEN THROUGH ADULT EYES , Romney STILL doesn’t think it was a big deal, while the victim John Yoblanski passed away in 2004 he  permanently psychologically scared by the incident and rmembered it to his passing while all the other “pranksters” involved as Gigot puts it are now sorry and feel remorse for doing it.   Romney does not..

This is nothing more than an example of one ReTHUGlican standing up for another.

Fidel Castro’s Neice, Mariela Castro Leads Hundreds Through The Streets Of Cuba For LGBT Rights

Mariela Castro, a noted gay rights advocate and head of Cuba’s National Center for Sex Education,  led a colorful march of over 400 hundred LGBT and straight allies and advocates through the sweltering streets of the capital for LGBT equality.  The event is linked to the International Day Against Homophobia on May 17

Mariela, niece of Fidel Castro and daughter to the daughter of Cuban President Raul Castro earlier this weel praised Barack Obama on the final stage of his “evolution” to supporting same sex marraige:

The U.S. president delivered a message that was humane, understanding, in which he even recognizes that he too has been changing his opinion in favor of marriage, the free union of same-sex couples,” said Mariela. “Hopefully his words will be taken seriously in the political and legislative decisions made in different states and in the whole world.”

Mariella Castro has predicted for years that Cuba’s parliament was on the verge of legalizing gay marriage, but it has yet to happen. She said she hopes legislators would finally follow through when they next meet in July.

GOP – Tea Party Senator Rand Paul Attacks Obama With Offensive Gay Joke – Video

Kentucky’s own Tea Party Congressional member Sen. Rand Paul was his skeevy old self on Friday when after he was done attacking a women’s right to an abortion he then attacked Barack Obama’s support on son same-sex marriage by saying he didn’t think the president’s views “could get any gayer.”

Paul who was appearing at an event held by Iowa’s Faith and Freedom Coalition stated in his speech:

“The president, you know, recently weighed in on marriage. And, you know, he said his views were evolving on marriage. Call me cynical, but I wasn’t sure that his views on marriage could get any gayer.” ………

“We understand sin and if we believe it’s a sin, we still are (sinners) and people sin. We’re not out there preaching some sort of hateful dogma against people.  But that doesn’t mean that we have to go ahead and give up our traditions.”

“Six thousand years of tradition” combined with “anthropological” evidence shows “there’s stability in the family unit,”

Six thousand years?  REALLY?

Perhaps Paul should pick up a history book for change and stop reading NOM’s talking points.

Nero married two men, Sporus in 54 CE, and Doryphorus in 68 CE. and same sex weddings took place in increasing numbers over a period of time, but were outlawed in 342 CE

Paul is as much or more of a nut-bag as his insane father.  It’s a national embarrassment that tese two freakish crazy assed mothers like these two are able to run for or hold any public office.

Its interesting how Father and Son who called themselves ”Libertarian”until they took GOP and Tea Party money would  give a flying flip if two gay people wanted to get married?   Doesn’t that fall under the category of, “It’s none of the government’s business”?

Gay joke starts at 5:40 mark

Mitt Romney’s Commencement Address At Jerry Falwell Founded Liberty University – VIDEO

GOP Presidential nominee, violent gay bully, and boring as hell, Mitt Romney today gave the 2012 commencement address at the bastion of “hateademia” Liberty University which was founded by Jerry Falwell in 1971, leader of ”Moral Majority”.  And is home of the SLPC certified hate group, the Liberty Counsel

Falwell once said: “AIDS is the wrath of a just God against homosexuals. To oppose it would be like an Israelite jumping in the Red Sea to save one of Pharaoh’s charioteers … AIDS is not just God’s punishment for homosexuals; it is God’s punishment for the society that tolerates homosexuals.”

Mitt’s biggest applause line? “Marriage is between one man and one woman!”

Who’d have guessed?

Falwell was unable to attend today’s commencement ceremony, as he had a previously scheduled lunch date in HELL with Hitler,  Ronald Reagan, and Roy Cohn.

***NOTE: The video cuts off the very beginning of Mitt’s speech, in which he praises the anti-gay founder of Chick-fil-A and Focus on the Family supporter Truett Cathy.

“Leaked” GOP Memo: We Need More Votes, Stop The Hating And Embrace The Gays

A memo “leaked” from Jan van Lohuizen, the Republican pollster and founder of Voter Consumer Research (who’s name couldn’t sound anymore like a Nazi’-ish if he tried) urges “Republican operatives” to quickly embrace LGBT rights because of the changing attitude of the majority of Americans to stop further the alienation of the GOP party.

Background: In view of this week’s news on the same sex marriage issue, here is a summary of recent survey findings on same sex marriage:

1. Support for same sex marriage has been growing and in the last few years support has grown at an accelerated rate with no sign of slowing down. A review of public polling shows that up to 2009 support for gay marriage increased at a rate of 1% a year.  Starting in 2010 the change in the level of support  accelerated to 5% a year.  The most recent public polling shows supporters of gay marriage outnumber opponents by a margin of roughly 10% (for instance: NBC / WSJ poll in February / March: support 49%, oppose 40%).

2. The increase in support is taking place among all partisan groups. While more Democrats support gay marriage than Republicans, support levels among Republicans are increasing over time.  The same is true of age: younger people support same sex marriage more often than older people, but the trends show that all age groups are rethinking their position.

3. Polling conducted among Republicans show that majorities of Republicans and Republican leaning voters support extending basic legal protections to gays and lesbians.  These include majority Republican support for:

  1. Protecting gays and lesbians against being fired for reasons of sexual orientation
  2. Protections against bullying and harassment
  3. Repeal of Don’t Ask Don’t Tell.
  4. Right to visit partners in hospitals
  5. Protecting partners against loss of home in case of severe medical emergencies or death
  6. Legal protection in some form for gay couples whether it be same sex marriage or domestic partnership (only 29% of Republicans oppose legal recognition in any form).

Recommendation: A statement reflecting recent developments on this issue along the following lines:

“People who believe in equality under the law as a fundamental principle, as I do, will agree that this principle extends to gay and lesbian couples; gay and lesbian couples should not face discrimination and their relationship should be protected under the law.  People who disagree on the fundamental nature of marriage can agree, at the same time, that gays and lesbians  should receive essential rights and protections such as hospital visitation, adoption rights, and health and death benefits.

Other thoughts / Q&A:

Follow up to questions about affirmative action: “This is not about giving anyone extra protections or privileges, this is about making sure that everyone – regardless of sexual orientation – is provided the same protections against discrimination that you and I enjoy.”

Why public attitudes might be changing: “As more people have become aware of friends and family members who are gay, attitudes have begun to shift at an accelerated pace.   This is not about a generational shift in attitudes, this is about people changing their thinking as they recognize their friends and family members who are gay or lesbian.”

Conservative fundamentals: “As people who promote personal responsibility, family values, commitment and stability, and emphasize freedom and limited government we have to recognize that freedom means freedom for everyone.  This includes the freedom to decide how you live and to enter into relationships of your choosing, the freedom to live without excessive interference of the regulatory force of government.

Of course this isn’t about “true” support.  It’s more of a “do this so we can get more Republicans in office” sort of LGBT support

But it’s the last paragraph that is going to make Tony Perkins, Matt Barber, and Brian Brown’s “gay hating borg brian” explode as it advises Republican candidates to emphasize the CONSERVATIVE [author's emphasis] nature of gay marriage, to say how it encourages personal responsibility, commitment, stability and family values.

Jan van Lohuizen was George W. Bush’s pollster for his 2004 re-election, in which the GOP replied heavily on using same sex marriage and LGBT equality as a wedge against the Democratic party which for the most part supports same sex marriage

WOOF! – WWE Pro Wrestler C.M. Punk Stands Up For Same Sex Marriage

WWE professional wrestler C.M. Punk (aka Phillip Jack Brooks) used his Twitter account to stand up for same sex marriage.

“Making same sex marriage illegal is the same as having segregated drinking fountains,” Brooks tweeted after North Carolina voters approved to amend a constitution to define marriage between only a man and a woman.  “Embarrassing. The human race is embarrassing #evolve.

GLAAD Steps Up (FINALLY) – GLAAD’s New President Slams CNN For Hosting Tony Perkins

“To cable news viewers, he’s just the conservative guy who comes on sometimes to talk about gay stuff from a Republican point of view. But Perkins’ own statements will show you that those positions don’t come from politics. They are the result of pure animus towards gay people, and a belief that they’re doing the work of ‘the enemy.’ You can expose how extreme Perkins’ positions are by challenging them, like [Soledad] O’Brien and [Piers] Morgan did. But you’re still not telling the whole story, unless you tell your audience what’s at the heart of those positions. We are once again asking journalists to hold anti-gay activists like Perkins accountable for their own statements against LGBT people, and to deliver that critical information to their audiences.

(Imagine) Wolf Blitzer: “Joining me is Tony Perkins from the Family Research Council, which has been labeled a ‘hate group’ by the Southern Poverty Law Center for its anti-gay activism.”

Boom. Done. Now the audience knows exactly who Perkins is, and has a pretty good idea of where he’s coming from,

The above are the words of GLAAD’s New and Impoved  (AND HOT!) president Herndon Graddick, in a scathing HuffPo piece he wrote slamming CNN for hosting Tony Perkins three times in the 24 hours after Obama’s announcement of his evolved support for same sex marriage.

Finally a breath if fresh air and some straight to the point talk from GLAAD.

Perhaps there might be new life for GLAAD other than “Award Galas” and taking on bad  ”cross dressing” television sit-coms.

GO HERNDON!
