when I came out in NYC 1976, I lived and went to vintage gay discos: the CockRing, the Anvil, 12 West, the original Limelight on Sheridan Square, the Gallery and the Loft. I felt most comfortable in the downtown underground clubs and adopted the ‘clone’ look the enhanced my masculinity. Tom of Finland illustrations were the prototypes of my fashion. This image is the one I most identify with.
