KENTUCKY: Homework Assignment at Christian Academy of Louisville: Persuade your friend to stop being GAY.

A homework assignment given to some middle-schoolers (7th. grade = 11/12 yo) at Christian Academy of Louisville, Kentucky has been exposed showing how it encourages students to persuade an “imaginary friend” to reject being gay. *cough*-GROOMING-*cough*

Via: The Courier Journal:

Screenshots show the assignment required students to write a letter to a hypothetical friend “struggling with homosexuality” and persuade them “God’s design for them is good,” “homosexuality will not bring them satisfaction” and “you love them even though you don’t approve of their lifestyle.” – Assume that you have known this friend since kindergarten, that you go to the same church and that you have been pretty good friends over the years until now,” the screenshot of the assignment read. “… The aim of your letter should be to lovingly and compassionately speak truth to the person you’re talking to in a way that does not approve of any sin. Instead, TRY TO PERSUADE THEM OF THE GOODNESS OF GOD’S DESIGN for them.”

Christian Academy of Louisville School System Superintendent Darin Long in a statement said the assignment had been given to students in a middle school Bible elective class.

The homework was “part of a unit of study which discusses ‘What are humans and where is their identity?'” Long wrote, and “in context, was how a person could discuss homosexuality with a friend from a biblical perspective with compassion and love.”

And Jesus wept. Again.

  1. Absolutely Disgusting, People Still Think This Way and To Put It In Our Schools. What’s Wrong With These Nitwits!

  2. On the positive side, at least they are acknowledging the issue (rather than pretending that gay kids don’t exist) and there may be a few bright students who, in thinking through the assignment, come to the conclusion that it is totally inappropriate, especially if they actually have a friend who identifies as one in the LGBTQ minority.

    1. Thank you, Frank, for allowing me to look at this side of the subject. I appreciate your take on this very much. I am just very tired of hearing these young children put down and in danger, from pure stupidity of the right wing. Thanks againl
      H.

      1. I had to really force myself to find a “positive” take…I am as disgusted with the evangelical brainwashing as you are and yes, it is a danger to LGBTQ kids.

  3. I find it hard to believe that people, who call themselves educators, dismiss credible information to the contrary. People do not choose to be Queer. We are born this way. These same educators go to Dr.s and take advantage of other medical science. Denying the very medical science that has kept them alive. Why? Because they believe in something you cannot see, hear, feel touch. HMMM…How many patients are on psych wards that do just the same things? How many of these people at rallies exhibit such a fervor of belief. They are red-faced and spitting their words. Hmmm, I have seen the same behaviors in the ER. Those people are in 72-households. So I can only ask how these people can call themselves educators. When do they have such closed minds? Do they cherry-pick what science they believe in? “Ya I think I’ll believe in one from column A, and 2 from Column C.? Mr. Trump and his disbelief in proven scientific evidence and belief in pseudo-medical science empowered these people. Mr. Trump played to this bible belt, Red Neck, Red states constituency. Mr. Trump enflamed the fears of the disenfranchised and poorly educated. The same people think a computer is only for porn and Facebook. Who listen to Dr. Laura in their pickup trucks. Believe there should be a national monument to Rush Limbaugh. These are the same groupings that tried to perpetrate the overthrow of the government January 6,2021. The group that wanted us to have the democracy they choose us to have. These are the people that support book burnings and a rewrite of the education system. These people are in these “private” academy’s. Creating the next generation of narrow minds under the guise of christianity. They forget St. Peter 4:8: Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.
