Trump DOJ Files Supreme Court Brief Against Adoptions By LGBTs

 Via theWashington Blade:

In the latest example of the Trump administration seeking to enable legal discrimination against LGBTQ people, the Justice Department is calling on the U.S. Supreme Court to allow religious-affiliated adoption agencies to refuse child placement into LGBT(Q) homes.

In a 35-page brief, U.S. Solicitor General Noel Francisco and other Justice Department attorneys maintain the City of Philadelphia has “impermissibly discriminated against religious exercise” under the First Amendment by requiring Catholic Social Services to abide by a contract requiring LGBTQ non-discrimination practices in child placement.

The U.S. government isn’t a party to the case, known as Fulton v. City of Philadelphia, so the brief is completely voluntary. In justifying the brief before the Supreme Court, the filing makes the case the Justice Department has a compelling interest to intervene.

  1. I will never comprehend the reason behind this type of behavior. Living with one mom, in an orphanage for a few years, an abusive biological and step father who were abusive alcoholics. I don’t get it. What is the problem with single parenting or gay parenting, either two women or two men. I’d had loved that opportunity. Two people who loved me and showed it, instead of seeing drunks beating my mother and siblings as well as myself physically and emotionally. Then the orphanage was run by so called christian women that acted like they hated kids. I just can’t wrap my head around this. Please let kids receive all the love from one or two parents, no matter their sexual orientation as long as they love in the correct manner and desire to help as well as want children. As a gay man I’ve taken care of many cast off’s for Mental Health and the State. The bulk of them, were abused in one way or another from family members. The state tends to look the other way, due to being overwhelmed. The good christians around where I live, didn’t take in throw away kids, because of that stigma, they may have problems. You think? All I can say is Show some compassion, fight this ignorant asshole and his administration with their faux religious perverts, that protest something good and healthy.
