Sal Trejo, a gay man from Salt Lake City, Utah posted an 8 second clip of himself being assaulted on Twitter Sunday night and SLC police are asking the public for help identifying a man who hit him and then pulled a knife after asking him if he was gay.
The assault took place downtown and the video starts with the suspect asking “Are you gay though?”
Trejo responds, “Oh, I am.”
“Oh, then you are gay.”
“Yeah, but…”
That’s when the man punches him.
Trejo also posted a statement that said after the assault, the man pulled a knife, yelled anti-gay slurs and eventually ran to a car.
Salt Lake City police are investigating and asking for the identity and any information on the assault.
