Puerto Vallarta police are baffled after 10 naked men have been found tied naked to lamp poles around the city with the letter “R” shaved into the back of each man’s head.

On Wednesday when people reported a naked man tied to a pole in the Valentín Gómez Farías neighborhood the victim Alejandro “N”, 25 years old was tied to a post and naked and with slaps on his buttocks.

Minutes later, another naked man was reported tied up and naked in Aguamarina and Diamante, in the colony Joyas del Pedregal.

In all six naked men were found naked tied to poles in Puerto Vallarta a few minutes apart on Wednesday night in Puerto Vallarta, at which time police released the information that 4 other men were found in the same condition the night before bringing the total number of men to 10.

All of the men were found with the with the letter “R”  shaved into their heads and authorities suspect the “R” stands for “rat,” a common term to describe thieves and that possibly local vigilantes are to blame. They also say it could be a conflict between rival gangs.

Many of the men said they were abducted from their homes, but claim they have no idea who did it or why.
