Gay Penguin Couple ‘Kidnaps’ Chick From Its Neglectful Straight Parents

Zookeepers at Denmark’s Odense Zoo had to intervene after a gay penguin couple “kidnapped” a chick from another couple of neglectful penguin parents.

One of the males had previously tried brooding on stones. But when they saw the young chick unattended on Monday, they swooped in.

The gay penguin couple decided to adopt a chick after its parents went for a swim leaving the chick unattended.

According to NBC news, zookeeper Sandie Hedgegard Munck said, “He [the father] may have then left, and then the [gay] couple had thought, ‘It’s a pity, we’ll take it.”

When the biological parents realized what had happened, there was a showdown and after the parents expressed their fury, the baby chick was returned

After the chick was reunited with its parents, keepers decided to give the gay penguins an egg from a mother who had previously abandoned chicks and eggs.

One of the prospective fathers is now happily brooding on the egg.
