Donald Trump on Sunday tweeted a video spinoff of him tackling and punching a man with the CNN logo superimposed on his face. CNN’s Brian Stelter points out that the video, which was likely tweeted by Trump’s social media director Dan Scavino, apparently came directly from a Reddit thread. Last week, deputy press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders disputed allegations that the president encourages violence. “The president in no way, form or fashion has ever promoted or encouraged violence,” Sanders said on Thursday. The network responded to Trump’s tweet via Twitter by quoting Sanders. – via The Daily Beast
This morning Republican strategist Anna Navarro was a guest on “This Week with George Stephanopoulos” and she rightly called Trump’s Twitter statements what they are—an incitement to violence against a free press. She added the president is surrounded by enablers and it is time for the Republican party and those around the president to stand up for democracy itself and say “no!”
Looking directly in the camera, she tells the audience, “America, we cannot stand for it.”
