Pat Buchanan Calls For Violence Against “LGBT Militants”

In an interview with Wingnut World Daily World Net Daily (WND), Pat Buchanan, once senior adviser to American Presidents Richard Nixon, Gerald Ford, and Ronald Reagan, spoke on the controversy over the Indiana Religious Freedom Restoration and is urging Christians to fight the “LGBT fanatics” even if it means violence.

“This battle can be won, but it cannot be won if we do not stand our ground and fight against this moral onslaught from the left,” he said. “The hill to stand on and fight on is the God-given natural right and the constitutional principle that people of faith may choose not to associate with those whose actions are abhorrent and whose lifestyle is insulting and offensive to that faith.”

“The LGBT militants are not asking to be left alone, they are demanding that we accept the morality of homosexuality and same-sex marriages, and manifest that acceptance, under pain of law and sanctions, in our daily lives. As the Romans demanded of the Christians, the LGBT fanatics want us to burn incense to their gods. The answer is no. If it comes to civil disobedience, so be it.”

“As Aquinas wrote, we do not have to obey immoral or unjust laws. We should defy them. And support the brave people who do.”

In December of 2013 Buchanan praised Russian President Vladimir Putin for his defense of “traditional values,” citing his opposition to such “evil” developments as marriage equality to position Putin as the global leader of the fight “against the militant secularism of a multicultural and transnational elite.”

  1. I think you don’t have to smell the guano to realize that Pat has way too many bats in his belfry.

  2. The shrill cries of a dying breed! The war has been won, but insecure people like him will go to their graves wondering how so few see it like he does.

To my beautiful Gay Brothers and Sisters: James Dobson and Focus on the Family will never agree with you because this inaccurate and false information they spew is their bread and butter. If they did not have a populace to discriminate against, then their REVENUE would greatly shrink. The foundation to healthy living is to protect yourself against their shameful and untrue Evangelical beliefs, for they are dangerous and immoral. Always feel good about yourself my gay brothers and sisters, for I have the experience of internal hate and oppression like many that lasted for many years. I have survived the emotional turmoil that has shaped my entire life, many of our gay brothers and sisters sadly, have not. We must continue the education that being gay is not a learned behavior but a cherished gift from the source of life. Please remember, these religious sinners who are in charge of different faith-based organizations know NOTHING about God, only money and power and they will say, preach or do anything to have it.

I would like to tell every single gay person and everyone in the United States and in the world, be STRONG! There is nothing wrong with you, it is them— The small minority of mis-informed people who are listening to powerful political bigots who want to keep their cash flow going by hate. They do this by mis-interpreting the True God of Love. These people are Focus on the Family, The Family Research Council and others. Please educate everyone you know always about these religious radicals. The True God is about love, compassion and helping others, not a hateful God that they should not be preaching to and about! Buchanan is EVIL!!!!

  4. Buchanan is well known as a fringe element bigot, but i can’t really say his speech actually called for violence.
I am willing to call him a bigot, opposed to nearly all Christian values, and anti American, that’s all very clear, but I am not willing to condemn him for things he didn’t say. The headline was misleading.

  5. Buchanan is one crazy motherfucker, but I am tired of reading scare headlines that are not justified by the text below. In what is quoted, he does not call for “violence against LGBT militants,” he calls for possible civil disobedience. He’s bad enough without being subject to hyperbolic slander, and I think you owe your readers an apology.

  6. He’s a crackpot just like pat Robertson, I think on some level they’re words might actually further the LGBT cause due to the fact that Americans are (most) better educated and realize how ignorant their message sounds. There will always be hateful people out there but together we can shame them into their own closet and lock them in.

  7. Wow.. so he says it’s a God given” right to not associate with sinners… when his bible specifically commands people of faith to seek out and associate with “sinners”… and to “Go with them two” when “forced” to do something like bake a cake for a gay wedding.

Then he goes and quotes Aquinas, Dr. of the Catholic Church, on a secular issue when he could have found the same quote by a founding father. (Bad choice, BTW.. A LARGE PART of the evangelical right wants to go after the Catholics, as well…. just sayin)
