1980’s teem television star Lisa Welchel, who played Blair on The Facts of Life is a well known devout christian went on record during an interview on The Justin Root Show dispelled many rumors that she’s anti gay and slammed those “one-way” Christians who believe that homosexuality is an abomination.
“There are some very loud voices that wear the ‘one way Jesus’ t-shirts and point fingers,” Whelchel said in the interview. “Sadly, that is the voice and that is the poster child for Christianity and the nonacceptance of people that choose differently. Born differently, cuz’ even that you have to be careful with, saying choose differently. That’s an electric rod right there. I’m sorry about that, and I’m sad for that… because that is, of course, not at all what Jesus taught. (Jesus) taught acceptance and love and grace. I’m sad that (being anti-gay) is the stigma that Christians have deserved, unfortunately.”
Paging Mike Seaver! Call for you it’s Blair Warner!
There is lots of room at God’s table for both LGBT and STRAIGHT people. It was how God intended it to be, otherwise God wouldn’t have created LGBT. Trust in God’s plan. Work together to stop starvation, homelessness and poverty.
Blair was always my favorite Facts of Life girl. It’s always easy to assume that because someone is a Christian, they must be a homophobe…but that’s not always the case…and Ms Welchel is really one the the “good ones”. Great interview btw.
Wow.
It’s really sad when Christians buy into Satan’s lies and don’t truly know what God’s love is all about. It’s not about compromising your values as a Christian and telling non believers what they want to hear so they’ll hate you a little less than the others. It’s about speaking the truth in love.
My bible says “Faithful are the wounds of a friend, but DECEITFUL are the kisses of an enemy.” A true friend doesn’t tell you all the lies you want to hear just to win you over. A true friend cares enough to lovingly warn you when you’re in harm’s way. And that IS what Jesus taught.
Flying under the radar is not part of the Christian experience. All who live Godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution. If you’re doing it the right way and not the “I care what everyone but God thinks of me” way you will be persecuted. And if your heart really belongs to Christ you’ll never be the person who persecutes their own. Very disappointing.
I think Christians need to “Judge not lest Ye be judged” and ” Love one another” of all the commandments I have given you this is the most important”amen
