While the announcement of the new and unprecedented 12th. regeneration of Dr. Who isn’t planned until tomorrow night on the BBC. Bookmakers in both the United Kingdom and in Vegas have stopped taking bets after a rush of wagers on Peter Capaldi, best known for his role as the foul-mouthed, tyrannical spin doctor Malcolm Tucker in the political satire The Thick of It.
When betting closed on Friday, Capaldi’s odds at William Hill stood at 5/6. A spokesman for for the firm said: “We have seen people today trying to back Peter Capaldi as much as possible at every price available, and after a small gamble on Daniel Rigby overnight, it seems that Capaldi is in line to move into the Tardis.”
Steven Moffat, had previously said that he had not ruled out an older Doctor.
Sources close to the show said only 10 people knew the name of the new Doctor, which will be unveiled in a one-off live show at 7pm tomorrow, to be hosted by Zoe Ball.
The chosen actor will be interviewed in front of a live studio audience and a few Daleks, with previous Doctor Who stars also present.
Last time the Doctor regenerated, he said he wanted to be a ginger (red head for us murricans) so I think it’s going to be Price Harrry!
