ACT UP Crashes and Protests Stoli Promo At Popular NYC Gay Bar Splash

ACT UP Protest

Last night more than a dozen ACT UP members crashed and protested the “Most Original Stoli Guy: New York” event taking place at Splash Bar in Chelsea  shouting and displaying signs with slogans such as “Russia Kills Gays” and “Dump Stoli”.

Although the protesters had to deal with a small crowd of 150 gay men who were more interested in looking at hot men with six-packs and an abusive drunk drag queen MC who at one point screamed  “Look at those assholes being taken out of the bar. This is America, not Russia.”

ACT UP  organizer Mark Milano, was still pleased. “I think it was great,” he said. “They were totally taken off guard. There were Stoli executives in the room who saw their event crashed.” Another ACT UP member, Brandon Cuicchi, added “Stoli was doing an event they could not do in Russia. You’re not LGBT-friendly marketing to gay people while saying nothing in your home country.”

The event was co-hosted by GayCities.com which has a sponsorship deal with Stoli and also owns Queerty.com
