You hear the word icon thrown a lot but for someone that has been able to turn back time and her popularity in current pop culture, Cher is the personification of icon. Which is probably the committee for New Your City Pride asked one of the most recognizable gay icons in music to be a part of next week’s festivities. Here’s more:
Singer, actress, and all-around pop icon Cher will headline NYC Pride’s annualDance on the Pier.
As part of her June 30 performance, the diva will perform her new single “Woman’s World” from her forthcoming “Closer to the Truth” album, which is due out in September, along with several of her classic hits. This year’s show will take place on Hudson River Park’s Pier 26.
“NYC Pride is thrilled to welcome Cher to the stage of this year’s Dance on the Pier! Her performance will be one of the most memorable in the history of this world-class party,” Chris Frederick, Managing Director of NYC Pride, said in an email statement. “Now in its 27th year, the Dance on the Pier continues a proud tradition of partnering with all-star talent to create a high-quality event that raises funds to support local LGBT non-profits and New York City’s annual Pride festivities.”
Sounds like good times. Get it? Times. As in turn back time…okay I’ll stop. Enjoy the festivities next weekend New Yorkers!
