On Friday, ThinkProgress LGBT reported that Republican Congressman, Scott Tipton (R-CO), announced that he is in support for the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA). ENDA is key legislation making it illegal to fire someone because they are LGBT.
In an interview Wednesday after the Presidential debate, Tipton was reported saying:
“I’m a businessman. When you walk in the door, if you’re able to do the job and you’re focused on your job, that’s all that’s important.”
He then was asked by ThinkProgress interviewer Scott Keys if he would be in favor for such legislation like ENDA. Tipton responded:
“Yeah, yeah. I don’t believe we ought to be discriminating against people for their private lives.”
