In September of 2011 we reported about Dakota Ary, a Texas high school student who claimed he was persecuted and suspended from school for telling his German class, “I’m a Christian and, to me, being homosexual is wrong.” and claiming that his German teacher Kristopher Franks has been pushing a “homosexual agenda” in his class.
Well that turned out to be a lie and Dakota turned out to be a lie and it was revealed that Dakota and his pals have a long history of homophobic remarks and actions.
But that isn’t stopping the National Organization for Marriage’s “Marriage Anti-Defamation Alliance” from using the obviously troubled teen and his mother in a new anti-gay hate ad.
But regardless of just how anti-gay young Dakota was on that day, the truly ridiculous thing about the National Organization for Marriage now using Dakota in a “Marriage Anti-Defamation Alliance” video comes in the little fact that Texas is about as far away from marriage equality as any one state in this nation. Whatever went down in Dakota’s case, it was not about the national conversation surrounding civil marriage rights—it was about basic respect for LGBT people during the public school day! He did what he did in a red state with no legal recognition of same-sex couples. A rejection of the casual peace of mind that all students deserve when they head to school is not supposed to be among NOM’s goals.
At least it didn’t used to be among NOM’s goals.
Hooper makes a good point. But what he misses is that it’s not all about marriage equality. This is about anti-gay bigotry and hate pure and simple across the board,
And while there’s no doubt that the hateful homophobic little mouth-breather in the video below is a product of his bigoted hateful cow of a mother he is still a minor and NOM is pimping him out to spread their hate under the guise of “free speech” sinks the already repugnant organization to the lower depths of using disgusting tactics.
