Jamiaca’s “Love March” which took place in it’s capital of Kingston on September 15th was suppossed to consist of prayers, worship and performances by various Christian artists. But in reality the march organized by a couple of anti-gay Christian groups who claim they are fed up with “sexual immorality” in the end was nothing more than an anti-gay parade.
According to Anti-Gay Fact Check many held signs reading “Keep The Buggery Law,” a signal to Prime Minister Portia Simpson-Miller, whose residence they marched in front of. (Simpson-Miller has stated that she is considering revising the law to legalize consensual same-sex activity.)
The started to sing “Hosanna Jesus is the rock of my salvation” which was followed with a prayer and the national anthem at 10:19 a.m. At 10:20.a.m. the sermon started with Daniel Thomas speaking. AGFC of course, had to be there to listen. As we went closer we heard him talking about the “dangers of gay sex that spreads HIV”. Gay sex was compared to “man on dog” sex and the buggery law was declared to be “important”. The topic changed to the evils of fornication for a short while until it turned to homosexuality. The prayer against homosexuality started at 11:47 a.m. The “demon of homosexuality” was spoken of and homosexuality was said to be poisonous.
As the crowd passed behind the road of one of the nation’s pro-LGBT organisations the shouting continued. The crowd then began to pray against Obama and David Cameron who were out to “destroy the country.” They claimed secret meeting were being held in order to ‘desensitise’ Jamaicans and that the LGBT movement was out to persecute Christians as they claim had been done in other countries. Daniel claimed that the “minority won’t have their own way” and asked God to “keep us free from evil powers” in reference to the “evil homosexual agenda”. People in cars beside the march cheered on in agreement.”
Considering that Jamaica has one of the highest murder rates in the world and it’s tourism industry earns over 50 percent of the country’s total foreign exchange earnings and provides about one-fourth of all jobs you’d think they’d have more pressing issues to worry about and would be wary of pissing potential tourist off
