North Carolina Wendy’s Franchise Stands With Chick-fil-A (And can go down with them also)

Wendy’s franchise owner Jim Furmen, who has a total of 86 Wendy’s franchises all over North Carolina has taken it upon himself to “Stand With Chick-fil-A” and has posted the above message on all  his restaurants throughout North Carolina.

You can contact Furmen’s franchise offices at: (828) 262-1811 ~ Fax: (828) 262-0015, or email them

I personally just contacted Wendy’s Corporate Headquarters to lodge a complaint against Furman’s franchise chain.  Because even though it is a franchise operation Furman’s restaurants still need to comply to comply with the Wendy’s Corporations rules and standards which I am sure using their message sign under the Wendy’s logo to promote anti-lgbt sentiment is not one of.

You can contact Wendy’s Consumer Relations Corporate Office at: Phone: (614) 764-3100, x 132032

^UPDATE – Wendy’s Corporate has been in touch with the franchise owner and the signage has been taken down.

** UPDATE 2 – It seems that this post has been picked up by Michele Malkin’s which is mistakenly reporting and misinforming its right-wing base that the Chick-fil-A boycott is about Dan Cathy’s  “freedom-to-speech” and not the fact that it’s about Chick-fil-A using its profits to donate to  some serious extremist anti-LGBT Hate Groups  including the FRC and Exodus International.

  1. Wendy’ Condemns Chick-fil-A President Remarks On Gay Marriage
    by Brad Warbiany
Caught this across the wire today:

Wendy’s Spokeswoman ‘Wendy’ Stands With Gay Marriage Supporters

Dublin, Ohio, July 25 2012: Wendy’s corporation found Dave Thomas believed in treating all people, customers, employees, and vendors with the utmost respect. As the woman you see on the sign and in the logo of Wendy’s, it is my belief that Dave would, as I do, support the rights of same-sex couples to marry.

Being ginger, I have faced discrimination my entire life. I’ve been called “firecrotch” and “carrot top”, have endured countless barbs from people such as “you’d better get out of the sun, ginger”, and “they don’t make an SPF high enough for you.” Growing up different from your peers is hard, and when you’re already a cartoon likeness of a human being, to know that you’re a cartoon minority is itself an added struggle.

On behalf of the entire Wendy’s organization, I would like to express our solidarity with all minorities, and our firm commitment to stand beside you as you fight for equality. I would condemn other fast food chains, whether it be their company President or their chicken-hating cows, who would not offer you the same respect.

At Wendy’s, we believe that all loving couples should be afforded the same rights — the right to marry and all the legal protections that accompany the institution. We live in a nation that trumpets freedom and individual rights. It’s time to ensure that we live up to the values we espouse. Besides, I’ve got my eye on that chick from Brave. Rawr!

In addition to her role as corporate mascot, Wendy has been a tireless supporter of minority rights and equality since she was first drawn in 1969.

It must just be his beliefs…according to this letter the actual Wendy’s corp is a supporter of gay and minority rights. I would take his franchises.

  2. There use to be a time when LGBT Groups would protest inside Churches.. not to mention every St Patricks Day Parade ..

and still this year you can find LGBT Parades where people go barely dressed and places like the Castro District in San Francisco where Gay Men go Naked in the streets protesting stupid stuff not Gay Rights and the police don’t arrest them…

I am Straight.. My cousin is a Gay Rights Activist in West Hollywood.. I love him and always will…

Why do you want to get married in a church.. in God’s House on His Alter?

Most but not all Gay people are Atheists or non-practicing Christians..

Why would you want to do this when even if you do still believe in God you know its not something God Condones….

Get Married on a Beach .. In a Park .. At a Hotel Pool or in a Public Square… BUT NOT IN GOD’S HOUSE

If you want respect you have to show respect and the Gay Community has gained respect about the time they stopped protesting inside churches …

If you want to get married get a civil union and a wedding and stop saying there are absolutely no options for your relationship…

But just like two gay people can’t have children alone.. without outside intervention… there are somethings you have to say ok to…

There is no reason to get married in a church.. and any church that would perform such a wedding is not worth attending.. however I do know there are some really great gay people out there that are kind and care about the world and everyone in it…

but really … Get a Civil Union for legal reasons and get a friend to perform or perform the wedding yourself..

    1. I can’t believe that you are so misinformed on the subject and claim to have a “gay activist cousin”

Same sex marriage is not about getting married in a church and just fyi civil unions DO NOT cover a gay couple for all legal reasons.

You REALLY need to get the puck out of here and call your cousin and learn something.

  3. The point of ” Cfa day” is freedom of speech! most of you, including Wendy, have missed this. Now I will exercise not only my rugt of free speech, I will also put my money where my mouth is. Goodbye , Wendy’s. Hello, CFA!

  5. As i am a gay employee for Wendys hamburgers, Its disheartening to know that this is what our franchise owners want and believe. Straight, black, white, mexican or whoever we are have a right to work, walk, drive, marry, eat, travel, talk, and so forth without any discrimination. I dont care what anyone believes, but as an employer and using your job to discriminate against others and including your own hard working managers and employees is just down right crule and absurd. Yet, they still have their busiiness and franchise contract??? Someone should take them down a notch or two. Jim Furman i have worked for. He is a very sweet christian man. I am glad. Personal beliefs you fight for, but when your an employer for gays and all walks of life, this is when you should be neutral with your business.
