Spiteful Colorado GOP Kills Civil Union Bill That Had The Votes To Pass

Just to further prove how spitefull, vindictive, and evil the Republican party really is, Colorado Republican House Speaker Frank McNulty purposely stalled a civil union bill in Coloradolast week and then purposely sent it to the Veterans and Military Affairs Committee which is also known as “The House Speakers Kill Committee” where every bill that lands there gets killed and which indeed was the fate of Colorado’s Civil Unions Bill last night.

Governor John Hickenlooper lashed out at the Republican House stating “Transparency, accountability and the virtues of good government are compromised when the legislative clock is used to avoid consideration of important legislation”

Gay-rights activists are calling upon Democrats to make the civil unions failure a rallying point for November.

“For too long Democrats have let the right corner the market no talking about values. Finally we’ve claimed the moral high ground, and we can talk about that,” said activist Wiley Sherer, who was selling buttons that read, “Ignorance is forgivable. Pride in ignorance never is.”

One Republican Rep. Don Coram, whose own son is gay, spitefully voted against the measure accusing the Democrats of using the gay community “as a political pawn”
