23rd Annual GLAAD Media Awards Announced. And No Back2Stonewall.com Is Not A Nominee

Nominees for the 23rd Annual GLAAD Media Awards have been announced.

The awards recognize outstanding work in the LGBT community in news coverage and entertainment media.

The GLAAD Media Awards ceremonies will be held in New York on March 24, 2012 at the Marriott Marquis in Times Square; in Los Angeles on April 21 at the Westin Bonaventure; and in San Francisco on June 2 at San Francisco Marriott Marquis.  Special Honorees for each city will be announced in the coming weeks.  (Because we all know that the GLAAD Awards are bigger than the Oscars and couldn’t ever be held in just one night)

Nominees include:

Outstanding Movie:  Circumstance; Gun Hill Road;  Pariah; Tomboy and Weekend

Outstanding Drama Series:  DeGrassi; Grey’s Anatomy; Pretty Little Liars; Shameless; and Torchwood: Miracle Day  (What no True Blood?  The Closer? Ugh?)

Outstanding Blog:   Bilerico; The New Civil Rights Movement; Mombian; Rod 2.0; and Towleroad

Congrats to Bilerico and The New Civil Rights Movement!  Well deserved both of you.

As for Towleroad I personally consider it more of an LGBT News site than a “blog” and I wonder why its nominated in that category.  Especially when there were so many outstanding REAL independent blogs this year that worked so hard and get no recognition.  And no I am not talking about myself.  (Okay maybe just alittle, but still.)
