“I regard this primary campaign as the beginning of a process to save conservatism from itself. In this difficult endeavor, Paul has kept his cool, his good will, his charm, his honesty and his passion. His scorn is for ideas, not people, but he knows how to play legitimate political hardball. Look at his ads – the best of the season so far. His worldview is too extreme for my tastes, but it is more honestly achieved than most of his competitors, and joined to a temperament that has worn well as time has gone by.
“I feel the same way about him on the right in 2012 as I did about Obama in 2008. Both were regarded as having zero chance of being elected. And around now, people decided: Why not? And a movement was born. He is the “Change You Can Believe In” on the right. If you are an Independent and can vote in a GOP primary, vote Paul. If you are a Republican concerned about the degeneracy of the GOP, vote Paul. If you are a citizen who wants more decency and honesty in our politics, vote Paul. If you want someone in the White House who has spent decades in Washington and never been corrupted, vote Paul.” – Andrew Sullivan
Well I guess ff you’re a rich conservative homo with HIV who doesn’t give a shit whether your less fortunate brethren can’t retain or access to life-saving medications, vote Paul.
Oh and Sully, I don’t remember ANYONE thinking Obama had zero chance of being elected this time last election.
Now go crawl back under your rock.
Will, I just felt a thud in my stomach with the comment:
“Well I guess ff you’re a rich conservative homo with HIV who doesn’t give a shit whether your less fortunate brethren can’t retain or access to life-saving medications, vote Paul”. This could have been easily reworked:
“Well I guess ff you’re a rich conservative homo who doesn’t give a shit whether your less fortunate brethren with HIV can’t retain or have access to life-saving medications, vote Paul”.
As a gay man living with HIV I have a problem with outing his HIV to serve any purpose. It was rather insensitive to us with HIV to do so. My version is just as effective without going there.
This is the first time I have ever had to come down on you. Please reconsider. But I do understand your point.
I’m sorry Bob. but just so you know I am not outing Sullivans HIV status he’s very open and forth coming about talking about it and has done articles about it himself since 1996.
I personally find it insensitive of Sullivan a gay man who’s openly living with HIV to endorse anyone that would hamper acess to much needed medication to those who need it in the name of money.
I am sorry if I offended you though
Will
Thanks for the response Will. I love your work and totally understand. I agree Sullivan is a clod. I know Sullivan is out about his HIV status as am I. I want people to learn not only from my experience but help people overcome their fears of contracting HIV. It is appalling how ignorant a lot of gay men are about HIV but then I was one of those people before my infection.
I do appreciate you taking time to respond. I check your blog several times everyday. Happy Holidays!
