On June 25th, 2011 James Craig Anderson was standing in a hotel parking lot minding his own business at 5 a.m.

Little did he know that just a half hour earlier a drunk, 18-year-old Deryl Dedmon Jr. proclaimed, “Let’s go fuck with some niggers!”to his friends and they drove 16 miles to where they found 49-year-James Craig Anderson standing in a hotel parking lot at 5 a.m.. Dedmon and his pals kicked and punched Anderson while screaming “White Power!” Then Dedmon circled his truck around and ran Anderson over, killing him.

Daryl Dedmon, now, faces capital murder charges and is being held without bond. The driver of the and the FBI is also involved in the case.

But James Craig Anderson wasn’t only black,  he was also gay and he and his partner of of 17 years who were blissfully happy and raising a 4 year old child together. And to add a final insult to the monumental pain and loss suffered by this horrible crime Anderson’s partner, James Bradfield wants to file a wrongful-death lawsuit against the murderers but he’s denied even that because “under Mississippi law, same-sex partners have no claim in civil actions such as wrongful death.

More pain, sufferening, and inhuman treatment of gays thanks of the Defense of Marriage Act and the lack of statewide protections for LGBTs and same-sex couples in MississiKKKi.

How much longer are we going to allow this heinous treatment of us to continue.

DEMAND AN END TO DOMA NOW!  DEMAND LGBT INCLUSION INTO THE CIVIL RIGHTS ACT!

that is really sad and disgusting to read….it really makes me think twice about marrying my partner legally (we are both women of color, so potential targets in multiple ways). Hopefully he takes this further. thanks for this post
